I used to work with a rather extreme white leftist who really liked to argue politics even if you asked him to let you get back to work. One time, the conversation was about education gaps, and I had pretty easily defended a few different conservative positions, and he just kept getting more frustrated and angry (his wife made a lot of money going into low income schools and telling them how to do their jobs). Finally, he got too angry to continue and yelled, "You don't get it! THEY can't learn like we can!" He didnt realize what he was saying until it was already out, but he was too embarrassed of his own admission of actual racism to even have full conversations with me again.

This is the underlying mentality of quite a lot of these individuals. Their white guilt is just the other side of white supremacy. They think others are lesser than them, and so it's their duty to save them. You'll never see more racism than when people like that meet minority conservatives.
@JimiGosu
@JimiGosu Жыл бұрын
That's the problem with democrat policies. They're created under the assumption that minorities are inherently too dumb or too poor to do the same things as white people, though democrats often word it so carefully that it doesn't appear to say that. For example, popular arguments among democrats against voter ID laws have been that black people can't afford to get an ID, are too poor to take the bus or own a car to get to the DMV/Secretary of State, and/or too dumb to fill out the forms for an ID. Which for a political party that claims to oppose racism, sounds VERY RACIST (because it is.) But I guarantee you there isn't a single black adult that even leaves their home without a state ID or driver's license. So the democrat's position falls apart very quickly when you use your brain.

Studies have been conducted that prove there are differences in comprehension abilities. Those less able to comprehend tend to earn less and to live in impoverished areas, where they have children who on average have lower rates of comprehension which leads them to earn less and to live in the same impoverished areas with their parents where they meet comprehension challenged people and have children with them which further pushes down comprehension. Those who do have high comprehension manage to move out of impoverished areas, which also exacerbates the situation for those left behind. This cycle tends to create high poverty, low comprehension populations. What can be done about this?

The question you have to ask yourself is; "If I assume that bad things happen to me because of the color of my skin, does thinking like that help me?" Assuming racism, whether it's there or not, only makes people bitter and resentful. And eventually, people who think that way wonder why they're bothering at all. "Systemic racism won't let me get ahead, so maybe I should stop trying so hard."

I’m white and grew up very poor, on welfare, weekly food bank trips, etc. And I really appreciate you reviewing something like this, and having honest discourse with it. I was always taught to never judge anyone based on the color of their skin, how much money they make, etc. And even though I’m white, I grew up seeing kids of other races who had way better families, more money, more of everything I barely had. It’s made me pretty sad these past few years to see such a huge divide among people because of race, when I’ve definitely seen black people, Asian people, etc having so many opportunities that I never had because I was poor. Regardless, I’m so grateful for the opportunities I have had and I do think racism is real, obviously lol. But I’ve had a hard time reconciling to myself that there’s just this 100% true form of institutional racism, implicit bias, etc. when I haven’t seen that to be entirely true. I’m sure there are things I don’t understand because I’m white, but I have been in poverty and let me tell you it does not discriminate. I also hate to see so much emphasis on race when it can have negative effects like undermining the intelligence of someone just because they’re black. It’s kinda bass ackwards that someone doesn’t have to use their intellect but instead gets selected because of their race, to do something when they very well could score so high based on intellect alone. Anyways just my two cents, thank you for your review! I like Ben and don’t always agree with him, but I respect the hell out of him for his debate skills and conviction for what he believes in. Peace and love, God bless!

15:05 As someone from Germany I can confirm it's about class, not race. We had the same experiment. If your name is Kevin you are far less likely to be accepted at job interviews or other ventures than people with names that you would associate with high income parents. For the record "Kevin" is considered the classical low income name in Germany.
@danielasalazar5289
@danielasalazar5289 Жыл бұрын
In Mexico you can tell it is predominantly classism too. There’s still a lot of racism, but things like your name, the school you come from, the car you drive or if you don’t have one, etc. are really pointed out or acknowledged by wealthy people at schools and work. Here american names like Britanny or Kevin are considered as “lower class names” and spanish names (from Spain) like Javier or María José are more predominant among rich people, so if you have some of the names of people that come from lower incomes or you didn’t go to a certain school or know certain people you are looked down on by higher income people

As for getting home loans in high risk areas, don’t insurance companies charge higher premiums for cars parked in front of homes in high risk areas, compared to those parked in a garage, carport or driveway in a safer area? This is because actuarial statistics review actual data for damage claims or stolen car write-offs to assess the risk that the insurance company will have to pay out a claim for damage or for a wreck so they set the insurance premium based on factual data. So do banks. If a person whose address is in a high risk area applied to the bank for a loan on a home in a different area, they may be approved because the bank actuarial data rates the new area as safer.

So white I glow in the dark. I'm a welfare baby and my parents are recovered herroin addicts. I had a baby at 16 and was kicked out on the street 2 months later. Where I lived till 19. At 18 when I was legally allowed to work more, I pulled myself out of that situation and even get a management position within a year. This was all before 9-11. Met my husband while he was on delayed entry, married him about a year after boot and 6 months before he deployed the 1st time. It's been 20 years now. I still don't have a GED, and I can't even work now (severe autoimmune disease). But on just his income we were able to move from one an area with one of the worst schools in the city, to a better one, then to a small town outside the city with one of the best schools in the state. On his disability pay. That's it. It's a mind set. We both had nothing when we eloped. But I never had anything and have always had the mindset to work for what you need and improve from there. Not waste money on expensive things with no value. Our sons education is valuable enough to us to reduce our standards in other places and to plan expenses well ahead of time, in order to prioritize that. I had that from my childhood. My husband got that from being married on an E2 pay 😅

I'm currently in the middle of reading through his book "Affirmative Action Around the World" and it is so well-thought out and deeply researched that it's astonishing it isn't taught in schools. Affirmative Action policies always, without fail, lead to a rise in racial tensions and ethnic discord, while simultaneously providing no measurable benefit to those it purports to help. In fact, it harms them as much as it does everyone else, as affirmative action directly leads to higher rates of failure and lower rates of graduation or promotion. In short, Affirmative Action creates a zero-sum game where tribal groups compete for access to government benefits and seek more and more authoritarian power to solidify their group's hold over the others.

The best thing is that he is African American. White people have been telling black people these same facts, for years and years, but weren't believed. I know this from attending a 92% black high school in St. Louis for 3 years. They are now, actually listening to and believe these facts, bc he's black and has academic credentials. He's helping everyone, by explaining to the black community, that white people were slaves too, and were enslaved in MUCH higher numbers, than black people, and for hundreds, if not thousands of years longer. But more importantly, by explaining that slavery wasn't race based; it was power based.

It help me greatly in both science and math. Fellow classmates who were struggling in math complained I was better. I told them to join STEM to get the help they need. I am a son of a millionaire. I grew up in a very nice 9 bedroom house, had summers on a 6 figure boat, drove a BMW as my first car. The day I turned 18 I woke up to a packed suitcase at the door and my father saying "time to go son". He put $1000 in an account for me and told me good luck. Thankfully I did well in school and got some scholarships. Anyway my mother died from cancer in 2014, my father died in 2016 from a heart attack, when I was 27 years old. He was worth 77 million when he died. The millions immediately went to charity according to his will. My sister and I got a trust fund with 100K each in it. We couldn't access that money until we had held down a single job for 5 years. I am now 39 and still haven't accessed the money. On my 4th year at my job. Kind of a long winded response to millionaires inheriting but I can respect my father's decision. Had he just gave me 30 million I would probably be dead, or just a massive douche.

My final paper in college was on the education system in America and how broken it is. The US pours more money into the schools now than they did 50 years ago and the high schools scores were lower than ever. Where does the money go? While some of it does actually go toward extracurriculars and other school improvements, the vast majority of it goes toward teacher wages. Teachers are NOT under paid. Most teachers make more in a year than the median pay of the US, plus they get 4-5 months off during the year! As a teacher, it is very hard to get fired for being bad at your job. There is a system called the lemon dance, where bad teachers get re-assigned to new districts. Teachers have to be exceedingly terrible to be fired. Even you try to get them fired, the teacher union will fight back and they have very very deep corrupt pockets and large amount of sway over the public education system.
@Emmyxf
@Emmyxf Жыл бұрын
So you can grasp this pay of teachers a bit better: Teachers are only paid for 10 months of the year. They can opt to have their pay spread out so that they have checks appear in their accounts during the summer, but the annual salary is still the same. Either you know your spending limits during this 10 months and save for summer when you're not paid, or have lower checks each month so that you can have 12 checks and not think about it.

As far as firing teachers goes, I'm not sure what state you are from, but here in Texas we have a system where you have teacher evaluations and it's a kind of "3 strikes you are out" system. You are put on a "growth plan" and if your next evaluation you are still not showing improvement with the help of a mentor teacher, then you basically are "out", there is no reassigning.

You are the exact proof that the world is working. You alluded to the real problem. People don't go into your field of study. Why? It's difficult. Young people want to "get paid". I am very white. I got out of HS in the 80's at the age of 16. Before I got out, I spoke to my counselor. He told me my only options for college were for me to pay for it, so I left. I went in the Army. I got out, worked really hard to get into an occupation, and clawed my way up. You are getting a college education. Cherish it and don't give up on it.

@Guy Ledouche Yes of course black people are just dumb and they all don't know how to spend their money. I'm not saying the video is right either. But listen to what you're saying. America's black communities have massive problems. And saying that those problems boil down to black people not knowing how to spend their money is .. pretty damn racist to be honest. When you take into account the shitty education available, And the stupidly high welfare giving families no incentive to stay together. You have to ask who makes those decisions? Who made those neighbourhoods into tarpits that hold the people within them down? That's not a trouble the rest of the world has with black poeople. Only in America there is a special place for black people. In most countries they are just everywhere. The only reason it's not the same in America is because Abe Lincoln got assassinated and his legacy sabotaged before he could finish his work. Still in the present day it is more of a class issue than a race issue. Ghetto's are useful for the powers that be. And the racial tensions in the US even after the civil war have placed black people on the bottom rung. But it's not like white people as an entire fucking race are responsible for that either. But that's the accepted narrative because it takes the heat of the actual perpetrators .. the US government as a whole. There are still battles to be fought when it comes to racial equality. And just because it's become socially acceptable to blame 'white people' for everything. And that's in no way a good thing. Doesn't CHANGE that. Do you really think this resentment from black people just comes out of nowhere? That it just FELL out of the sky? That's naive in the extreme. It's true that black people's resentment has been exploited by the unscrupulous to push their own agenda's .. But that doesn't mean it never had a reason to exist. And that everything was just their fault because they are stupid and ignorant. Pandering to the black community is so effective because they are in such desperate need of help. So much so that they will vote for almost anyone that promises to make things better. That doesn't make them stupid that makes them desperate. And such desperation has repeatedly been exploited in history to bring people into positions of power. Hell .. I'd almost guess that's WHY the ghetto is kept the way it is. Because it's a huge bulk of people not educated enough to smell a subtle lie that can be counted upon to vote for anyone that promises them a better tomorrow. Hell .. No wonder the democrats love em.

The name thing has been true for literally all of human history (at least the parts where we had names) Giving your children names that help them in life has always been important, this is why so many people name their children after important figures like presidents or kings/queens. Human brains rely on shortcuts to navigate the world without breaking down and someones name is a very good indicator of their social standing and upbringing. A strange or foreign name means that the person likely comes from a different background than you and even if this is not necessarily a bad thing it does at the very least make interactions more difficult, so people learned to identify with names that symbolize their own group.

I am suggesting a book for you: How to lie with Statistics. Bill Gates has also recommended this book. I used to do institutional research at a state university. If we got numbers we didn’t like, we changed the method slightly. Our goal was to get as much money as possible from the state legislature. You have to look at the methodology to know what the numbers mean. It starts with the selection of your data set. What will you include? Will you redefine what is included if the numbers do not fit the picture you want to paint? On the other end, how are you going to present the results? Average? Mean? Etc. When dealing with elected bodies, you can assume most will know little or nothing of this. They will skim the material you present and look at the charts and graphs. After that, they apply it to their personal biases and political ambitions, taking into consideration where and from whom they get their campaign donations. They also have to consider the goals of their party and the impressions of voters. That brings the media into the picture with major legislation that they push. They will take those studies and manipulate the meaning to suit their narrative. In today's world, you get clicks and opinions with a few facts thrown in to support a position.

The debunking about the name study gave me pause too. I agree that there's still definitely an issue there. My child has a more Americanized first name, but their middle name reflects their cultural heritage. That way they have an easier time getting hired, but have that middle name if they'd like to use it instead. But I think he's on the right track with considering it a class thing, because it's not even limited to other "outside" cultures. I can vouch for the college thing. When I have tried to go to college several times and was searching for scholarships, there were several (most tbh) that were given to students who were of any certain race. It was solely based on that and usually above a 2.0 GPA. Guess which race wasn't given scholarships solely based on race... white. I never found any scholarships I qualified for even though I had a 3.75 GPA. I ended up using student loans and paying the rest out of pocket. That was unrealistic considering I was a waitress with 2 children and a disabled husband. If there is still a such thing as systematic racism, it is against white people. although I agree with your core point I would point out success at the university level is not solely a factor of intellect. obviously there is a minimum standard but most people can meet that what does determine is work ethic, and how much work you can or will put in. the courses are hard core (as you noted) and they dump massive amounts of data and skills training on you and the less intelligent you are does effect how much you need to compensate with the amount of study and work you need put in. you can get a degree with a below average IQ but you will have to work your ass like there is no tomorrow to do it other than that slight proviso you are completely correct

This is actually one of the points that Sowell makes. Affirmative Action has lead to many smart people of color going into a college or university they are not prepared for. Universities that will not cater to where you grew up or came from, but care about your performance. Sowell stated that he's seen many kids go into schools from affirmative action fail or struggle to make even passing marks where if they were in a smaller school they would likely have made the dean's list, and gotten a better education overall because while they won't cater to them, they're not expecting them to have had their entire upbringing be on how to be educated or how to study like an ivy league school.

We then lived in relative affluence in my teen years. Neither of my parents could afford to go to college, but they worked hard so that their kids could go to university. My husband and I worked hard in school all our lives, we’re accepted into nursing school, and both became Registered Nurses in the hospital. This is why I personally resent being taxed to the place that it’s hard to pay medical bills, etc, and why I resent reparations for things I didn’t do, and resent being told that I succeeded because of “white privilege”. Here in WA state, I was always taught in school that every individual was special regardless of color or race, and so I have always believed this and tried to love people of colors. Now, for many white or asian people like me, our love is being trampled upon as they are propagating in government and schools that all white people are inherently evil. How cruel! How evil How ignorant! And I am appalled that many minority people are believing this deception. How can people be this ignorant?! There are good and bad in every race or nation or color! I made the naïve mistake of thinking everyone knows this! Most of us can see they are planning to eliminate white people from the population if they can.

I've seen it happen in Baltimore. They keep dumping more and more money into the schools and thing sonly get worse and worse. Many schools are in dire need of renovation or need basic repairs. Where is the money gone to fix these issues? Salaries of admin have gone up but not for teachers and staff and they keep demanding more money. Bad people and bad policies are why things continue to devolve.

I'm Hispanic American and one generation removed from poor ranchers in New Mexico. Both my mom and dad prioritized education and sent my siblings and I to Catholic school because public schools just are complete garbage. I knew there wouldn't be money for college and so did my siblings, but here we are, all of us college graduates. One an LPN, one an engineer with a local municipal government and I'm a commercial banker. All of us make six figures, own homes and have done a bit better than our parents. But, i don't think we'd have gotten far without having a whole family.

I do wish more college age folks would put in the same time and effort that you are to learn why we are where we are instead of just regurgitating CNN/MSNBC/ETC. This is the work that will make your life better even if those around you are falling down. Fellow engineer here, also glad to see your pride in that.

As Lt Commander data from Star Trek TNG once said: "Captain, the most elementary and valuable statement in science, the beginning of wisdom, is 'I do not know." It's good that you don't already have an opinion on what's being presented. It means you'll contemplate it carefully, and come to an informed decision on what you believe. With names, there is even something as simple as can people pronounce it, spell it, etc? Especially in more recent times where any mistake can become an incredible attribution of oppression. I was a teacher for a while and, personally, always really worked hard to always double check spelling and such with my kids. Some names, that involved checking the spelling every time I wrote it for months. Spelling is not a strong area for me with common words. Other teachers who didn't take such care often led to parents being insulted, complaints to management, whatever. It adds tension. I think some hiring and having two similar applications would be silly to resort to race to decide. On the other hand, if both are similar, but one has a hard to pronounce or spell name might give a little push to the other.

those were my thoughts, if i was a business owner and bob came in for a job and someone else with random letters as a name cause his parents wanted a unique name for their kid or with some obscure name from the bible i would hire bob. dont care if he was less qualified bob is easy to say.

That’s a really interesting review. I’m “white”,originally from Canada, now in NZ. I spent a lot of time arguing with my dad over race issues when I was a kid about similar topics in the video. I could see some of the problems that some Native Americans were having and I always felt it was because of what they had lost, not just physically but also emotionally and spiritually. I do think it takes some time to get back to where you were after being hurt so badly on so many fronts and also for some of the people around you to stop making it harder for you, like with that red lining. But I also see the points that Ben was making. Something to think about. Great job on studying engineering 🤗

I've seen numerous black KZbinrs respond to these sorts of videos. Even seen then say things like "I've been lied to my entire life" multiple times. I've seen his father say this multiple times as well in his videos. What I never see them do is ask who has been lying to them, or show even the slightest obvious outrage at being lied to. The problem with people like the guy Ben Shapiro is responding to in your reaction video is they are being intentionally deceptive. This is a very common political tactic used by both sides, but seems to be more prevalent on the political left as an intentional act of deception. An example? The Wage Gap argument. The political left claims the Wage Gap is Women being less money for the same job. Yet the study this 77 cent figure is derived from a study that looked at median income of Men and Women regardless of factor. This is a lie intentionally being pushed. Because the same study and subsequent followup studies have shown that when you take into account like job, hours worked and the like the gap nearly vanishes. That's what this video Ben Shapiro is reacting to does. It takes a small segment of time or history that could conceivably have had an effect on income within the black community and attributes it to a larger segment of American society. Red Lining is a good example. If you look at the historical record you will see that these red lining areas also impact other poor communities as well, such as white and Hispanic communities. Much of the red lining that happened disproportionately affected black communities because they were in a lot of high risk areas. So while it can be argued that this was a deeply racist policy, there is every chance that it was more a consequence of financial situation than race. Especially after laws were passed that ensures racial discrimination wasn't legal anymore. There are many factors that contribute to disparities, but like most politically left ideologues the one who made the Systemic Racism video Shapiro was reacting to chose to only highlight one factor that likely had an impact. Why do they do this? Because it's easier to get people to vote for policies that appear to address an issue as overt as racial discrimination than it is to address things that aren't the result of intentional actions by someone else. It's sort of like solving the problem of a flat tire by constantly filling it with air but ignoring the the nails, glass and leaking valve stem. Sure it will fix the problem of a flat tire in the moment, but eventually you'll end up with a flat tire again at some point.

It's really based on will-power, culture (how you grew up), who you are now. My parents were immigrants, I'm an first gen-college student along with my sis. My parents struggled and worked hard to get to where we are now and we live in one of the most dangerous cities in the USA. Its really about who you are, how you build yourself to be and whether if you are willing to go forward and earn your living. While others ask how I'm so successful, I see people loitering around, hanging out with friends, spending their time having fun. There's is absolutely nothing wrong with that but if you do that all the time... you won't make any progress on any of your goals. You need to be responsible. You need to be open-minded and you need to think critically for yourself and others.

you're an engineering student? excellent, that means you'll understand this. The number of crazy and/or stupid people in the world is a non-zero number. we can never achieve perfection but we can still strive for it. Pointing out a person's argument is stupid isn't bullying them. He is not "nit-picking", he is rebutting their argument. Emotions belong in the bedroom, NOT the laboratory or the public square. That's why I want the 19th amendment repealed. They never understood that your feelings need to be left at home, governments kill people and aren't to be trifled with.

I did not know you were an engineering student until this video. It makes a lot of sense as you review most topics with nearly pure logic and actually care about statistics and don’t put feelings in front of numbers. I was an engineering student over 30 yrs ago which has a lot to do with why I like the way you think. Engineering in simple form is systematic problem solving. Even though you review social issues, you still have a systematic problem solving attitude and open mind toward it. You are doing great with your channel. It is impressive that you keep this going consistently while being a full time student. Keep up the great journey you are sharing. It’s much better than the channels that come from ‘victim’ or ‘feelings’ points of view.
