If I were them, I would have dozed off in the middle of the god damned test. That isn’t fair. I wouldn’t have the energy and the conscience to know what I’m doing, thus increasing my chances of failing. And yet they still have to pay for it!? What a burden. I just never understood that. My advice for anyone considering taking AP classes in high school: don’t. You’ll be far better off using that time to take dual enrollment classes at your local community college. Whatever university you end up going to is far more likely to take a community college credit than an AP credit. I took four AP classes in high school and only got college credit for one, while my friend did dual enrollment and is now graduating a year early.

I immediately lost all faith in AP tests the moment I saw my grades for my 2022 AP tests. I took AP European History and AP Computer Science A. I got a 4 in AP Euro and a 3 in AP CSA. For the Computer Science test I was 100% confident on every single one of my long answers. I had so much time at the end of the test that I went through and checked every single letter to make sure the capitalization was correct. And for the multiple choice questions I only guessed on two of them because I didn't want to read all the code they put down. I am absolutely 100% confident that if that test was graded by my Computer Science teacher that he would have given it a 5. For the AP European History test... I have no idea how I got anything better than a 2. I literally have zero idea what Prussia was and the teacher for that class hated me because of how much I sucked in his class. I have a friend who took that class with me. If you asked him for the price of Barley in northeastern Switzerland in 1694 he would know it off the top of his head. He got a 3. For my long answer essays on that test I put down absolute garbage. The essays I wrote were irredeemably awful in every sense of the word. If you were to use those essays as toilet paper you would get Hemorrhoids. I cited random bullshit for no other reason than hoping it would get me a good grade. Some of my citations stated essentially the polar opposite of what I said they meant. In short: My essays were wrong. I should not have gotten a 4 under any circumstances. The scores I got on those tests made me realize just how incredibly useless those scores are. They do at at all represent my knowledge in the subjects I was tested on. Whatever wack ass way they grade those tests clearly does not work.

Yeah, you only need about a 70 percent raw score to get a 5, which goes to show how dumb it is. I had the same experience with AP WH. Got a 4 when I should've got a 2...talked out of my ass for every single essay.

I took the AP World History (WHAP) test. It was pretty awful tbh since we weren't prepared at all for it but I somehow pulled a 4 out of my ass. In my class we barely went over DBQ since a lot of the test was SUPPOSED to be multiple choice but the test was only one DBQ question.

Dude for my APUSH exam, the same shit happened, except my teacher was so fucking garbage that I remember one day as he was about to go over how to write a DBQ, someone in the class asked his opinion about the Chic-fil-a sandwich vs. the Popeyes sandwich and got completely off topic for 30 minutes. When it was getting toward test time he was saying how unprepared everyone was and how we needed to more attention, this fuck threatened to give me a "referral" for insubordination when I start asking him about that time he wasted 30 minutes talking about chicken sandwiches or the countless other times he just sat there and put on a movie while the whole class did busy work multiple choice questions IN AN AP CLASS, THAT WE PAID FOR.

2 people passed my APUSH (Such a stupid fucking abbreviation that only instills rage in me because we were practically forced to use it.) test... 2 out of a class of probably around 20 students. I was one of the ones that failed the test by the way, but I finished the class with a b+ average, poor teacher honestly had no idea what was going to be on that test.

10th grade AP World History students also had to learn to according a brand new curriculum layout this year, already with minimal resources to use to study. Heimler's History KZbin channel did a demo of their test DBQ in 45 minutes to model for the students how to pace themselves and it took him more than one try to get himself a passing grade in the allowed time. AN EXPERIENCED AP TEACHER WITH AN ENTIRE ONLINE CLASSROOM ARCHIVE AND REVIEW ORGANIZER FOR THE NEW CURRICULUM COULDN'T PASS THE EXAM WITHOUT A RETAKE. That's not a slight against Heimler, he's great. That test was framed so poorly since they chopped off the last few units for this year so the students didn't get to learn anything after the Industrial Revolution unless their teacher wanted to cover them even though they were NOT going to be on the test, which would put students taking that test at a disadvantage. How about you cancel the exams and let the students get their complete education fairly? WWII, the Creation of Israel, the Cold War, Tensions in the Middle East, Apartheid, Globalization, ALL of it was deemed non-essential to the testing and therefore discouraged to cover in the final quarter of classes, distance learning regardless. Most of the time in quarter 4 ended up being an online version of the greatest hits of other quarters for APWH, and for what? A timecrunched DBQ with an awkward rubric and means of submissoon for students that don't have a catalogue of proper materials to study from.

This year, I took the AP French exam. Important thing to note: I'm literally fluent in French. Not only did they make me pay too much for two questions, but I also had to pay a "late fee" even though I submitted my money well before the final date, and well before exams were even close to being ordered. So this was 180$ (CAD) which is already ridiculous, especially because it turns out the exam was online. I still decide to do the exam. Come the testing day, I do the exam, everything goes smoothly, but a week or so later, my teacher calls me saying she never got my answers... Well fuck. Turns out, even though nothing went wrong with my exam and it said I was all good and stuff, they still never got sent to College board. So I have to do the rewrite. Oh, also, the original exam was on May 21st... The retest was on JUNE MF 29TH, which is past the date that marks can be sent to Colleges/universities lol, so it's pointless if that was your goal (for me, I wasn't sending my marks anywhere though so 🤷). I still decide to do the retest. I think I do decently, but I don't feel as good about it as my first one. After this exam, I STILL don't know whether or not the board got my results; I got no emails, no confirmation anythings, nothing! And no one is contacting me about it either, like anyone locally. So now I'm wondering, "did I just absolutely waste 180$ for this fuxking garbage exam?". Turns out, they did get my answers this time and I saw my score. Keep in mind what I said earlier: I'm literally fluent in French, but I got a 4. The exams, especially this year, do not only poorly test your knowledge of an entire subject by only testing you on a singular aspect and potentially a topic you just are bad at, plain and simple, but they are NOT a good representation of your knowledge of the subject. I feel scammed and then ended up w a mark that doesn't reflect my actual knowledge of the subject, so I can't even talk about it/show it to people without having to explain the whole catastrophe that is AP college Board

TLDR; for the AP Bio test, your score was actually predetermined by which question you got. It was so bad, I got a 5 on the AP Bio test when I got a C- in the class. Biology was by far my worst subject. My question was about, get this: Water. Yep, Water. Just water. How water works. Barely nothing to do with Biology, almost entirely about the chemistry, and it was some of the most simple aspects of the CHEMISTRY of water, and nothing to do with biology. After the test, all the students talked about the questions and their scores. 2 other kids got the same question as me, and they both also got 5’s. In the entire rest of the class, (41 kids) only 2 other students got 5’s, and the overwhelming majority got 2 or 3, and much, much harder questions. There was one question that 6 students got, and every single student got a 1 or a 2. I can’t exactly complain, because I got the good end of the stick, but college board literally made a test so absolute shit that your score was basically determined by which question you got, not how much you knew about biology.

I took my finals two days after my surgery to repair the tendon on some nice pain medication and couldn't finish 10 questions on my 7am math final, because it was rainy and my crutches kept slipping so I got into school late that morning. "...Expected me to write a page and a half about something that can be explained in 2 sentences..." That's the first taste of the bull shit that is writing academic papers in the format for professional journals. Summarize your findings like 3 times in 3 different ways and you you need to include a lot of fluff and cite multiple other academic papers. Each time I'm forced to write one, I'm torn between wanting to strangle my prof, and feeling intimidated and having a feeling of deep seated dread, that leaves me wondering if I actually got into the correct field. You'll start to run into that bull shit somewhere around second semester junior year. You'll write lot more of those if you're a masochist or hate yourself, and pursue a graduate degree (currently in a masters degree in a field where such a thing likely has a low to no rate of return (do get your bachelor's degree, since that'll give you solid footing for negotiating bigger pay)).

Collegeboard decided that “Oh ThAtS wAyY tOo cHeAP, hmmmmmmmmmm.... WhY dOnt we jUsT gEt rId oF tHe sUbJeCt tEsTs anD fOrcE sTudEnTs tO tAkE tHe AP ExAmS iNsTeAd” So now if you want to show colleges interest in any of these subject areas (a lot of colleges even required certain subject tests), you’ll instead have to buy the $96 AP exam. Don’t be surprised when, in a year or two, T20 schools start requiring AP Physics and AP calc scores to be sent to them instead of the subject test scores.

College if you don’t make it through on scholarships alone the debt is too much to be an option for most people so if you make too many mistakes that’s not an option anymore ( and with crap like this it is inevitable) prisons are designed to punish and end up making it extremely hard for people to turn over a new leaf ( if you got a felony on record you most likely ain’t getting a job so back to stealing you go) jobs will often look for minor infractions to fire you for after one mistake ( good bosses that won’t do this exist but still it’s not good that one minor mistake will lead to them digging up policy they never enforce to fire you in some cases)

it was genuinely devastating to take the ap tests online because i work backwards-- i start from the last question and once i get to question 1, i check my answers as if im retaking the test. not being able to check my answers or work in the way i found is beneficial to me in timed exams was a huge blow to my score, as well as the ap lang essays-- i was considered to have the potential for a triple threat essay score, as my school called it (getting a 6 on all 3 essays) but having that opportunity taken away to write a single rhetorical essay was ultimately detrimental. i got a fucking 3 💀 so many of the best writers in the school faced the same fate and not being able to bolster the score with multiple choice questions or other essays highlighting your strengths caused a tremendous dip in scores. no one got higher than a 4.

High school students, if you don’t do well on AP tests, it’s perfectly okay! Don’t beat yourselves up about it. A lot of college/university professors aren’t out to purposely trick you on exams like these tests do. I’m a junior in uni with a 3.6 gpa and I barely squeaked by with 3’s on my ap tests (art, eng lit, and stats). NO exam I’ve taken in college has been as long, confusing, or complex as an AP test. They’re not “college level” classes-they’re BS. College board is just out for your money. Try to dual enroll at a local community college to get your gen-Ed’s done instead. It’ll save you a load of money and get you exposed to professors who actually care if you learn the material.

I totally agree. I had fun in the classes, but I say EFF those AP Exams. The only reason I didn’t dual enroll was because I didn’t have a way to getting to the college. I knew people who graduated early because they played their cards right with dual enrollment. It’s an awesome opportunity and less stressful than AP classes. Let’s not forget that you’re essentially guaranteed the credit as long as you pass the class, and it’s pretty much free. Take advantage of it. You’ll learn more in the end in my opinion.
