Batman v Superman will sell more, think about. - Batman and Superman on screen together for the first time. We've already seen The Avengers. - Wonder Woman debut. - Batman v Superman will go 6 weeks without any solid competition. Civil War will eventually meet up with X-Men in 4 weeks. - Batman is literally a money making machine. - The 1 year delay made people more anxious to see it.

+You Dont E.N.O why don't we hope both recieve equal money? i know for some fans we side to what we root more then the other... but then again these 2 movies are important for the genre in overall. why? bcoz somehow some ppl in the industry who doesn't like comic book movie especially superhero genre is bring superhero fatique issue for several times now. Now... BvS need to be really success bcoz its stand for the rest of DCEU plan and SS. Civil War need to be success bcoz its stand for phase 3 MCU. So i really really hope both movies are really really success. eventhough i don't really know (little) kids will like BvS tones.

John, I didn't walk away disappointed because I was expecting more from the sequel. I walked away disappointed because we see this badass shot of Captain America's shield broken, Thor is laying on the ground defeated (Actually dead but we didn't know that in the trailer). Then we also see a badass shot of Ultron being really intimidating saying, "There are... no strings on me". The movie comes out and we get a singing robot, a robot with quips here and there (Basic Marvel stuff but this was just horrible), and right before he gets his heart torn out he says "Y'know, in hindsight.." *Boom*

I honestly think both BVS and CA:CW will make a ton of money at the box office, over a billion dollars I'm expecting, anybody who thinks otherwise is really ignorant. But depending on both of the films, the film that I think will make more at the box office is BVS just because of the heroes in the title and the benefit of this being the first time seeing these characters on the big screen. Granted in Civil War we are getting Spider-Man(my favorite Marvel superhero of all time) and Black Panther in the MCU as well and I'm anxious to see them (mostly Spider-Man) in the movie, but the buzz that BVS has been getting is outrageously high. Not saying that Civil War doesn't have the high amount of hype as well.

This isn't more money for Movie News, it's for a separate thing. It's like when your mom gave you $5 to buy comic books, and then $10 to buy a shirt. You don't suddenly have $15 to buy comics. I don't think the Academy can forget a movie, but I do think they can forget just how good a movie was. There were a lot of movies that I watch and thought it was ridiculously good, but over time, I sort of forget just how good it was until I rewatch it. An example of this for me is The Avengers. Every time I watch it, I'm just in awe of how good it is, but after a few months, I think it was just good until I rewatch it again and the cycle continues. I've watched that movie 13 times now.

I don't expect Iron Giant 2 to ever happen, but as I recall, the book it is based on actually has a whole second half in which the Giant defends Earth from alien monsters, or something. Alternatively, the sequel could be about the Giant's creators coming to see what happened to this faulty unit. That could be played either way, for humor or drama.

Then there are the other big box office films releasing in May and June. After 20 days Batman v Superman is going to face off against the Jungle Book for 20 days. So, BvS basically has 40 days of domination at the box office. Civil War only has 20.

ULTRON was bad for the simple fact that MARVEL told us as the viewer that the characters are getting sequels, thus there was no worry that any of the characters would die. Take a cue from the Rocky franchise. Start killing off key figures... they're fictional. You can bring them back next year... right Spiderman?
@peteraguilar76009 жыл бұрын
So following your logic, you would then have to also say that WB is telling us that Justice League Part 1 will be bad because we already know the movies coming out afterward that involve the JL characters.
@praveerkrishna10749 жыл бұрын
+Peter Aguilar what? those movies will,in all probability,be origin movies. they will be set BEFORE the events of Justice League Part One,except for ofc Justice League Part Two,and there's no way you can say that all the characters who appear in Part One WILL appear in the next installment. I mean they can kill some of the characters off in the first part itself if they want,so the suspense will be intact.
@peteraguilar76009 жыл бұрын
+Le Stuff Respectfully, I would say that you are not following your own logic to its logical conclusion. Let's follow your logic and say that one of the characters appears and dies in Justice League Part 1, and then we have that character's origin movie. You just killed any chance of that character having a sustained franchise because the audience has already seen the character die. Any suspense in the character surviving to the end of another movie is killed because we know for a fact that the character dies. WB most likely has the lead actors signed for 4-7 movies, so it does not make financial sense to kill any of them in their first movie.

Don't know about the opening, but I think BvS will take all-time worldwide box offive. BvS: A shitload of hype, it's something new, 20 days of unopposed box-office money until Jungle Book comes out and then it still has 20days to make money at number 1 or 2 spot until Civil War comes out. Civil War: A lot of hype, but we've seen Cap and Iron Man before, hell, we've even somewhat seen them fight each other. Most people don't know who Black Panther is, but it does have a lot of Avengers, Spider-man and the Marvel name. It has 20 days of unopposed box-office, but then X-Men: Apocalypse (same audience) and Alice through the Looking Glass (first one made over $1billion) come out on the same day. After that, movies like TMNT 2, Warcraft, Conjuring 2, Now you see me 2 etc. start coming out. So, I think BvS will make more money, because it has more time and because it's more interesting (atleast for me). Don't know which one will be better though.

After being amazed by The Avengers it really made every other cross over in the MCU not as amazing. Both are gonna sell greatly but it's expected for Civil War to be a crossover film with good reviews while BvS is the dark horse, and very mysterious on whether or not it will be DCCU's first crossover success or failure. This is DCCU's first real step into the shared universe, that's enough to make everyone have its eyes on it.

Woody Allen clearly deserves an honorary Oscar. Has one of those honorary Golden Globes, but not yet the Oscar. Spike Lee's getting one, but he almost seems too young, even though he has been directing since mid-80s. Judging by that test man of steel was a zero... I almost fell asleep throughout the entire movie until the last 20 minutes. Adding to the fact that half of it made no sense. Same with the first captain America movie. I couldn't even finish "the first avenger" or even "the dark world". Hopefully bvs. Isn't that boring.... I,don't think marvel will really have any more movies like "the first avenger" besides maybe one or two throughout the rest of their run (hopefully) but I'm really looking forward to suicide squad. That's honestly the only movie I'm really looking forward to in the dceu. I can't imagine that will be boring at all

I think Civil War will make more money than BvS but only by a small bit. You got Spidey, Black Panther and I think the general audience is more interested in seeing Cap Vs. Iron Man after seeing these characters for nearly 10 years. Also Cap 2 and IM3 made more than Man Of Steel so that clearly shows people are more interested in that universe and those characters. However the addition of the Dark Knight himself may provide a challenge, I still think Civil War will make more. MOS also received more bad reviews than all of the MCU movies.

I agree that the BvS trailer was better than the star wars one but thats not a super fair argument because the BvS trailer is just that a full trailer while the star wars "trailer" was actually a teaser so thats a little unfair. Also while I agree the BvS trailer is better overall there were a few parts of the star wars trailer that for me were the best moments ever put in a trailer. One is the first shot because its the first thing ive seen since 83 that felt exactly like actual star wars, and the other is the han and chewy moment which is in my opinion the greatest moment ever in a trailer and it made me cry so there is that haha

I loved Age of Ultron and by no means thought that it was a disappointment. I just wish that if they were going to slap that comic title on it, it would be a little bit close to it's source material. In the comics Ultron practically controls everything. The heroes basically live underground for a long time. You could say for an AGE. The movie makes it seem like not a whole lot was at stake and took place over the course of a couple of days it seems like. I feel like it could have been solved in a standalone film with maybe cameos from heroes instead of being an AVENGERS film.

The Iron Giant reminds me a lot of the robot from Laputa Castle in the Sky, the influence is strong in that movie.

I have to reject this notion that Batman and Superman are the two biggest names in superheroes without contest. Spiderman may not have been big in the theaters in the 80's and 90's, but if you're looking globally there's a real argument that Spiderman is bigger than both. I'm not even a Spiderman fan, but I do think it is telling that his merchandise makes more money around the world than any other superhero. People know and love Spiderman, and I'm not gonna say "DC fanboy" because I know it's not the case, but don't discount the guy that can do whatever a spider can.

swanpride Yes he does. Which is why I think he shouldn't be left out of the conversation for most popular superhero.

I remember when they had slated Jeremy renner to take over the mission impossible series but then after the Bourne thing it kinda seemed to fall through but now I think it would be absolutely genius if after mission impossible 6 Rebecca Ferguson took over the series I think that would be awesome and really smart so I hope so,etching like that happens

In regards to Bat v Sup vs Cap Civil War, you have to take into account the movies that will be coming out after them. Look at Universal for example. All of their movies this year have made a lot of money, but if you look at the other movies that came out on the same day or the weeks after, they have gotten mostly bad reviews. When there's no other good options, then people go see what is popular. Which big movies are coming out on the same days or the following weeks after Bat v Sup and Cap are released? That's when their box office will slow down.
