This movie was so much more than just an attack on government it is a testimonial to the complexity of and ultimately the fate of us humans. None of us are all good or all bad. We are humans and flawed but at the same time capable of great and beautiful things. We are created in our makers image. As for Samuel Tristan and Alfred they are the colonels sons and each of them are not only part of him but in their own ways reflections of their father at different points of his life. Remember he is called colonel for a reason. Samuel wants to be like his father was. Tristan like his father is and in the final scene Tristan is the Colonel at the end of his life. Alfred was who the colonel wished he could be because thats the man his wife wanted and needed him to be. He sees himself in each of them and that brings him happiness but also fear and remorse.In the end they were true to who they truly were and there lives just like their deaths couldnt have been any other way. For better or worse tbey were who they were. Every character in this movie was important and the characters and those who played them were captivating.
@matthewgabbard64152 жыл бұрын
I think what you just said is the only way a God makes any sense. If we are made in his image then he has to be flawed as well. Maybe the Old Testament jealous and wrathful God was just learning how to be God. Maybe he matured along the way. Or maybe we just like to make up bedtime stories. I'm not sure
@cherylhulting1301 Жыл бұрын
Excellent and perceptive comment. @DuchessDiz God and His word is timeless. Standing against LIFE is to stand against the Author of Life. Don't peach to us about rape or incest. The lions share of abortions are convenience abortions, and NO unborn human life should be destroyed because it's "inconvenient". God gave us free will, not to do whatever we want, but to do what we ought to do in HIS eyes, that which is holy and pleasing to HIM. And the ills of this planet are a direct result of turning away from HIM, so don't tell us that religion doesn't rule any more and shouldn't; Christ should reign supreme in the hearts of mankind. We were put on this earth to love, honor, and serve HIM. And at the end of our lives, we WILL be judged by HIM, and on the Last Day. As concerns your comment, I'll remind you of the 2700 year old Bible you malign : The wisdom of man is folly in God's eyes.

The overwhelming majority of abortions are for the sake of convenience, so an unborn child gets to be killed for being inconvenient. How do u square that with your conscience? If u can, your conscience is ill formed, and your belief in God and HIS ways is non-existent. I will keep you and yours in my prayers for your conversion, that your souls may not be lost. Likewise, I am even more repulsed by the behavior of self-entitled, spoiled children who profess themselves to be wise, & know NOTHING of the world at large. Most base their opinion's on media lie's; having never traveled beyond their border's. Most not passed the county line! Nor for Adult children that attend brainwashing academy's claiming to be institutes of higher education. But produce's MASKED THUGS who riot in the street's, looting & burning. This, when they're not engaged in some sort of Bacchanalia relabeled as Spring Break. I am beyond World Weary, & live apart from it all I can. What bothers me most are the event's that try to pull me back into the Maelstrom. That gives me the most stress of all. Like the Colonel, I want no part of "their" "civilization". I don't go to place's where I might encounter such people. Likewise, I avoid the other side of the coin. Especially those fools promoting civil war! They have no idea the Pandora's Box that will open! Easier & wiser to stay home, avoid such people, & live apart from them. Remember, Fools rush in. That's what the Colonel was trying to teach his boys. Stay out of "the world's" issue's, but take care of your own---meaning family. As I have no family remaining in my life, I have only myself to care for. I will not place myself in harm's way for a fool of a politician. Be it local or national. They don't give a damn about me anyway. So I, in turn, don't give a damn about them either! You should watch the movie again, & focus on Colonel Ludlow's character.
