Transport Fever 2 Evolution part 1

A new playthrough of the game, nothing unusual there. The difference this time is that in addition to a challenging map environment, the only industries the map will ever have are those that are generated over time. An evolving challenge. Might even be fun.

Thrilled to have Transport Fever returning again, and definitely interested in that 'things I'd like to see in TF3' video. Now I don't know if this is some bizarre Mandela effect or not, but I seem to recall in your very first series of transport fever 2, you stopped rather abruptly saying that you would return at the very end of transport fever 2's natural life to see how the game, and your gameplay, has evolved since then. In fact it was the name of this series along with your promise not to play again that reminded me, because I thought that's what this was. I'm really happy to discover that this is a whole new series and I love the concept, but it did lead me to wonder if we ever will see a return to that first series?

I've downloaded the (excellent) map, and I'm running with an 1800 start, 1/4 speed time, ships up the Whazoo (that's the name of the river), and I was almost bankrupt in 1802, but have turned things around in 1803. Make sure you dock is connected to the food factory, people.

So, about electrics in the 1950's...at least in the US we had fully electric lines since the 1900's. Most of these were interurban routes, but there were a few major lines with electric power. These would be the Pennsylvania Railroad, Milwaukee Road, and Great Northern. Just some info for you later on, figured I'd pass it now.

$5m in 1950 is roughly equivalent to a bit over $65m today - IOW, a fair whack of cash, but a paltry sum with which to build an empire! Just a wonder, but _IF_ (in the fullness of time) you become frustrated with the limitations of 1950, perhaps a "Part Two" jump to 1960 might become an option? I'm mad-keen on this series (and did watch you build the map!). Cheers

ETERNAL 1950!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds good to me, plus in some respects, hi-speed trains are a major pain in the A**...they never DO seem to get up to the theoretical potential compared to cost. Good going Colonel and you'll suceed as always! (BTW get the Patrician to construct that bridge between Ankh and Morpork, after all HOW can the Watch do their patrols...

Hey! TF2 is back on the menu. Funny, I also started a game without industry when the patch dropped. I've been tweaking the setting to increase the impact of transport and reducing the negatives of emissions. It makes for some nice sprawling metropolises. Just got to show some restraint otherwise the whole map turns is a city.

Something I'd like to see with TF3, aside from smoothing out the AI civilian routing so it doesn't eat processing power so much in the late game when you have bigger cities, is for industries to have a more symbiotic relationship with towns, in reality a lot of towns and villages grew up around basic industries, coal mines, factories, etc, so with the exception of farms which often had their own staff live on site, most industries weren't out in the middle of nowhere like they are in TF. This would also help in the early game since you'd be able to make an easy small income by busing workers into the industrial site from the residential side of town. But you'd still need to connect towns and industries together because different towns will want different products so it wouldn't take away from that side of the game.

Yes, yes, yes! Not sure if it's cheaper. But probably the way a first road between some of those mountain communities would be built. And the hairpins/switchbacks can make for a very interesting and challenging build. Fun to ride along, as well!

My suggestion for TpF3 would be more control over how goods are sent to various destinations. In TpF2, suppose you have a food processing plant* and 4 towns, all along the same line, who all want food. The game will send the vast majority of food to the nearest town, leaving very little for the other 3, even though they all have equal demand. It would be nice to have more control over what gets sent where. * as it seems you do - at 27:35 we can see there is an Atlantis Food Processing plant which the game has presumably snuck in at some point.

You still have another $5mil loan at your disposal if you choose to take it out. You may have forgotten about that. Actually I think it is a lot more than that in 1950. Personally I like to make full use of the loan limit early on. It really helps jump start your company if you spend the money well.
