Wow this takes me back to my earliest programming experiments on my CoCo as a kid. I’m pretty sure I got our family’s CoCo 3 moved out of the living room doing similar things with SOUND and RND.

My earliest exposure to the CoCo was at a Radio Shack, while my grandmother shopped next door. I would read thru the manual and write programs. Sometimes they would save them out, as demos. Once I even wrote a "Closed for the Holidays" type screen and they put it on a TV in the window. Great times. My sales guy, Don B., got me fixed up with a 64K CoCo 1 with Extended Color BASIC and that was the end of my Commodore days.

The Color Basic manual kind of resembled War and Peace

Nice! I keep forgetting the tab command.

My VIC-20 must have been the one that had SPC() for adding spaces. STRING$(10," ") sorta does that on CoCo Extended. I seem to recall TAB() did not get implemented correctly in CoCo 3 hi res screens, though.
