Restoring Deer, Moose or Elk Antlers to their original, beautiful color can be done pretty easily using fresh coffee grounds! If you find sheds or dead heads this is a great way to bring them back from their chalky, sun bleached exterior to a more natural toned finish. All you need is a little bit of space, a few supplies and a little bit of elbow grease. You could be done this project inside a few hours.
Have fun experimenting and playing around with depth and texture as you bring the wild back to life in your home!

This looks awesome! Thanks for sharing I’m definitely using this technique for the euro mount I’m making. I found a nice scull and antlers while coon hunting. My dog finds the raccoons while I find other treasures!

That's very cool how you used the coffee grinds. I've made a homemade stain by dissolving steel wool. I wonder how it would stain deer antler. Thanks for this tip. Just found your channel and subscribed.

That's great, thanks and welcome! I've made steel wool stain as well and when u do it on wood, it makes it quite grey. You could experiment tho, if it doesn't work, you can always give it a sand and try something else!

Hallo, do you use hot or cold water for coffee ground?

Warm to hot. You want to be able to stand handling it with your hands.

I've never had an issue with it at all. There were some cats that would lovingly do their business in that area but no other issues. I wonder if you strapped the skill to a bigger rock then buried them together it may keep them in place. Is that a big problem where u are from?

How long do you typically leave on? Does time affect color?

For that video, I just let them air dry after the rub. If you want them to be darker, apply a second coat once they are dry, it may even need a third depending on your antlers. The more porous, the darker the coffee will take. Fresh coffee goes on darker than leftover grounds. Hope that helps!

@@theorangehuntress4108 thanks. Will the stain stay on even if you don’t clear coat?
@theorangehuntress4108
@theorangehuntress4108 6 ай бұрын
@@tonysimons7218 It shouldn't change if you keep it inside. That being said, if it's near a window, the sunlight may lighten it. I only did the clear coat because they were going outside.
