Just recently found you Channel and love the educational info you provide and want to say congratulations on the Grand Slam of Color Phase. I just restarted bow hunting last year after a 30+ year layoff. Last year I got my blind and this year in Aug got my chocolate to give me 3 of the 4 color phases. Yet to get the cinnamon but hitting it hard to try and complete the slam yet this year

What a cool accomplishment, and to have taken them all with a bow!Glad you got your blond bear, now to go find the video of it! My prized bear is a cinnamon with blond shoulders, I’d trade half my others bears for it.

Nick does a really good job & I had him do a life-size of my chocolate phase bear I shot in 2019.

Some great mounts . Just got my biggest black bear done into a rug but thinking for the next decent one I may need to go with a half mount , those look great

I've been following you since a short time before you came out with your book on bears (Bear Baiter's Manual ). Outstanding! Well done! I know it took quite a few trips on this North American Continent for you to accomplish this. I have harvested a brown and cinnamon bear, working on getting a black. Doubt I will be able to get the blonde.

Love the top two mounts, I wanted my biggest bear mounted that way and the taxidermist told me "it's not natural for a black bear to have their teeth showing " huh well you didn't see this mean beast when he got shot. Looks great and enjoy your videos so much only bummer is when I watch them all and have to wait till the next years videos haha.

A guy told me that I shouldn't mount them that way because he's never seen a bear act like that. I told them when you have hunted as long as I have and been around bears as long as I have, you will see them like that.

@@BowhuntingRoad my father in law has a nice 300 lb one with a huge white V across his chest and it's mounted this way, teeth and claws out, like it's coming out of the wall to attack.

If your ever looking for a taxidermist Randy Hill in Pennsylvania is one of the best I've ever seen, started as a part time gig and got so big he does it full time now. Just from Maine I know 10-15 guys that send pelts to him cause he's worth the extra effort to cross state lines. He's on Facebook and check him out, he's done 3 of my bears, a 3/4 mount like your bottom left one on the log, a standing full mount and a full mount on all fours walking kind of. Again Randy Hill of Pennsylvania.

Not many taxidermists do bears well, so if you find one, that's a good thing. Too many people take their first bear to the guy who does their deer and that's usually a mistake.

@@BowhuntingRoad look him up, he does a lot of bears . I can send you pictures of mine if you like , not cause he did mine but he does the best work I've ever seen. Too many times I've seen people wait a year or more for their deer or bear or whatever and it doesn't look good at all. Shouldn't look 50 years old the first day you get it, haha

Great video, as usual. Question: just viewed an older video of yours on Active-Cam Scent. Do you still use it? Still find it helpful as a lure for bears?
@BowhuntingRoad2 жыл бұрын
Yes I do! It's more of a curiosity scent for bears I would not consider as good of an attractant as Northwoods bear products sprays or Gold Rush.

I already have my other one died. I kept going to him out of long time loyalty but his work lost a lot of quality towards the end of his life. The blonde bear won several taxidermy competitions.

Missed opportunity to promote PATIENCE. From this angle, you dont NEED that little bear. Its okay to be honest about maybe taking a smaller animal when you shouldve waited or putting the time in. The hunt is more valuable when sweat goes into it, not just more money. Its also not even a phase grand slam, unless you plan on poaching two more
@BowhuntingRoad4 ай бұрын
You should watch the video of that hunt. A grand slam is 4.

I'm in my 50's and I've hunted all my life. I've never really understood the trophy hunting, but I grew up having to hunt if I was going to eat well. Even now, I hunt to put meat in the freezer. I do understand keeping the population cut down to prevent disease and overpopulation. I've never really got the whole hanging part of an animals carcass on the wall though.
