Sorry for the long video! I wanted to do a talk through going over everything color: levels, lifting, toning, filling, correcting, color wheel, gray coverage, etc. Let me know your thoughts and what videos you would like to see in the future!

I’m an apprentice hairstylist. In school they didn’t teach us how to colour formulate. They said when apprenticing you’ll learn that, at my salon basically I have to learn my own. So I’m panicking trying to figure out colour theory and this video has seriously helped me so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this.

Hey, so I am a graduated cosmetology student that has been struggling with confidence. I feel like I didn't get these basics in school. So this is seriously a blessing!! Thank you so much for taking the time to help teach all of us, and even help some refresh!

I love that you go so in depth in such a short time. It really helps. I feel like since you are still pretty new in the industry, you still have a grasp of the basics. At my hair school, (as awesome as my teachers are) theyve been doing hair for so long they get frustrated that I dont understand what they're saying. Having a fresh perspective helps SO MUCH. Thanks ❤

This was super helpful BASICS are important! What some people don’t realize, this is not only helpful information for hair stylist but also for customers as well. Some can get disappointed as they wanted blonder but don’t understand that some just can or can’t naturally pull better than others when you give them the best & healthy results for their hair types (specifically if it’s not what they thought they could achieve / as blonde) in one go. Also for girls like you and I, whose hair is hard to hold color/doesn’t stay in the hair long. I think anyone wanting to just understand this is a good video . Thank you so much. I recommend talking about the colors and how to explain to customers that your color of dyes or box dyes (ahh ) is still in the hair shaft even when lifted and tips for stylist on how you correct those issues/colors so not only is the information helping stylists but so customers can watch and understand so they don’t just think you’re lying when you did your job very well.

Thank you thank you thank you! I went to hair school but immediately went to esthetics school after and ended up working in skin care. 8 years later, I want to get back into doing hair and this was SO helpful! I was just thinking that there should be some basic classes for people like me who haven't done hair for years and this was exactly what I needed! 🙌🏼 Keep the videos coming! 😄

Thanks for the video. I sent this to my boss and the other stylists in my salon because we did have one client that we all had to resolve a green highlight that a friend had put in her. I'm the one with least experience at the salon with color but I do understand and I have learned so much from them. The color lines we use is lumishine and wella. My boss asked to first put on Wellas 12nG on with 20 volume and I did but in my head that would also lift the base and it it did a little and the green was still there. So she then asked me to but on 8g with 10 developer and I did but I New all this was not going to work be the G had too much green and how are you going to kill green with more green?? I went with what I knew was going to work and that was to add an R. I mixed 8G 1oz with 4R .2 oz because we were running low in Rs and it's all I had. When I my boss blow dried the hair she was happy to see that most of her green was gone so she felt compelled confident. However I was feeling even more confident because I didn't think of just correcting with opposites I thought of looking in the book and seeing what colors make up that G in the color. After the client was gone I asked my boss what colors make up the G we used on her and she didn't know what to respond so I should her the book and what I did to correct the green on her hair. She told me she was afraid to put any red and have her base change to more orange or red. But in that case we couldn't do anything about the red in her base because the green was more noticeable. Well the client walked out happier then when she got there. I was happy I was able to help educate everyone with more experience just to remind them that we need to go back to the very basics and I learned so much from this too.

I am a color specialist in the "ART WORLD" with paint and found you and your video to be super amazing (not at all boring) you sound like a color genius and I wish I could find someone as knowledgeable and as brilliant as you near me with color on the hair (as I am with paints) haha anyways I am entirely grey silver and charcoal. I suppose I would love the color if I was in my 20's but I'm old so I want my beautiful brown with highlights back, however my problem has been that when I used Aveda hair color I was itchy and more sensitive to things for about 2 weeks after, so I have been afraid to color cuz I may have allergies to the stuff in the hair dye. I have coarse and kinky hair and now that it's grey the texture is hard for me to work with. Can you recommend a line of colors that cover grey but are maybe PPB FREE or organic ? and could you do more videos on covering grey hair. Thank You so much

I love your videos very educational!! I worked with an older lady at a hair salon for 3!years and got nothing out of it really. We worked a lot with 3/4 clients that wanted to be base leval 7 with highlights. But felt like they would all look same they would all lift so warm. Trying to get back to working but I have such hard time achieving that cool leval 7.. any suggestions!!

How to achieve light blonde on natural level 6 virgin hair would be a really interesting video. I would like to see how light someone can go if they have light brown hair.

Anna Webber I’m a naturally a 7 and I pull very easily the lightest volume I’ve been able to pull a 9/10 level is with 10 Vol without added heat (just heat from foiling) 🤯 which is amazing and so good for the hair. Virgin hair is always the easiest and best to work with and will always pull better since there’s no other permanent dyes just the natural colors in the hair. Last time (since I don’t do my own hair) we used a 9NN goldwell to tap/smudge out the roots a tiny bit then I like the bottom for Ash. My hair looks literally seamless no lines at all (I prefer redken when doing hair myself or will tone myself between sessions) love the redken shades eq glosses line in semipermanent / Demi for toners 09T, 09V, 09B for pulling very blonde and ashy). Hope this helped a little.
