Ok guy, so I live in Grand Junction, not too far from that shopping center. There are a whole bunch of homeless in town who congregate in that particular parking lot, as well as RVers etc. Most of those folks are honest, but some might be unscrupulous enough to steal your chair. A camp chair is the kind of thing that the homeless really tend to steal. There are panhandlers on that corner right near where you're parked in the video on a daily basis, year round. So in short - you're lucky that your crates weren't stolen, and let this be a lesson to you to be more careful where you just walk away with your stuff out in the open, where it can be easily carried away from or cut from your car. I wouldn't leave my shovel in my truck bed if I was shopping at that lowes for only ten minutes, just saying.
@farmerjoesrants9 жыл бұрын
modusjoe69 Trust me, he was in Grand Junction. I shop in that center maybe twice a week. If you pause the movie at 2:06. you can see the street name Rimrock drive. I Also recognize the mountains behind him at 2:25.

Yep. The elevation does some wierd stuff to a person till you get used to it. Especially if you go on Pikes Peek. The air is real thin up there, as a kid I even remember the difference in the breathing. But it didnt take no time at all to adjust to it. But what also happened to me is we went up on the peek on that train thing that they have and my nose blead all the way up, stopped when we leveled out and then blead all the way back down. I was so happy that a lady had a whole box of Puffs...lol.

You weren't driving at 14,000' in Colorado. Highest you can get on improved roads is 12,183' Unimproved almost 13,000' You're just not acclimated to altitude. I've lived here 30+ years. You'll be ok. If you have problems you don't want to stay that high as you can get altitude sickness. Like your vids.
@siriusgd47534 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old video but I wanted to say something about Colorado. I live in the Springs at 6,500 ft. When you live here your lungs and heart grow stronger. You get used to it. Just like living in Vegas, your blood thins because of the heat. When I was in the Army and went to sea level, I could run 2 miles without much effort. Also, a vehicle with a carburetor will suffer coming here from a lower elevation. My car (that is fuel injected and computer controlled) actually gains about 50 horsepower at sea level. And we DO have the best pot in the country.
@DirkJ.8 жыл бұрын
That is just elevation for you, take MORE time and go up in elevation a couple days at a time. I moved to CO from the plains of IL 4 years ago and was shocked the amount elevation affected me, took a couple months before I no longer felt any difference. Elevation has a VERY serious affect on certain people. My mum came out and she really struggled with it, lot of headaches for her. Anyway im pouring over your vids lately as I want to break away and live a similar life. I really appreciate all the info you share, Thank you

I remember my first visit to a higher elevation. I was at my hotel and in the bathroom to brush my teeth for bed. I took the cap off of my toothpaste tube and suddenly the toothpaste started flying out of the tube. I shrieked as I watched half of the tube flying up into the air and all over the sink, my hand, etc. I'd never seen anything like that. It remains a very funny memory.
@eveningdim71678 жыл бұрын
Yeah, gotta get used to the elevation. I once vacationed in Seattle, and I was hit really hard by the elevation. I thought I had asthma or jet lag or something. After living in higher elevations, you get used to it. My body adapted, and all I feel now is mild ear popping on higher roads and a little shortness of breath in the same place. 'Course, some people can't adapt, but that's what happened to me.

Nomadic Fanatic Your chair got stolen. That's why the buggy is gone to. That's why it's so important to report suspicious activity. I lived for a few years at 10,000 ft elevation next to Pikes Peak. To alleviate that breathing issue you need to drink shit tons of water. FYI for next time. Good luck, and be safe.

david moreland with all due respect, I have friends that believed the same thing, and after taking a led pipe to someone ended up doing seven years in Sentanela state prison over it. Like you said it's a regime, a bigoted, racists, terrorist regime if you ask me. But even when you have to defend yourself, more often than not it a race to the phone. That's why the government subsidies lifeline phones.

Didn't realize you started your life on the road in a van. I'm newer to your channel and trying to watch all your videos. So many good ones. Your van looked so cozy. Do you miss it sometimes?
@kasandra42749 жыл бұрын
You probably already know this but ;) .... the higher in elevation you go the less oxygen there is in the air, I have traveled over the Rockies, I know exactly the feeling you are talking about. Your body will start to adjust, over time, to the lower oxygen level and become more efficient at using the oxygen that is in the air, thus the uncomfortable feeling goes away.

The symptoms you described sound like altitude sickness - exactly why airliner cabins are pressurized. In fact it's above around 12,000 feet that air starts to become too thin to breathe comfortably. Shortness of breath, chest tightness, frequent urination are all signs of your body making adjustments to the higher altitude. If you're going to high elevation locations, it's a good idea to stagger the climb in 1000ft intervals with 24 hours in between, to let your body acclimatise to the decreasing air pressure.
