@@Cherrytea558 Instead of high, I think you mean jacked up. Like how they tend to jack up their viewers' hopes with the promise of good footage, and then end up failing by going to the wrong places and not shooting good footage 😂 But Pecos Hank here gets shit done, with precision, skill, _and_ while taking the proper precautions instead of recklessly running- er, driving into immediate danger. I say immediate because storm chasing in itself is dangerous, but PH only gets as close as he knows he can without getting himself in a place where he might not be able to make it out. Also, he's funny, very nice and cares for animals, and is just an all-around great guy.

As a citizen of colorado, I can confirm that a large number of our tornadoes happen in the eastern parts of the state. They occasionally happen along the front range and elsewhere, but they are not usually a threat! We usually see a killer tornado every few years such as the Windsor tornado of 5/22/08, or the Holly tornado of 3/28/07. The strongest tornadoes we can get have an EF3 rating, but most tornadoes in colorado are either land spouts, or have a rating of EF2 or weaker.

Im glad colorado gets recognition for its tornadoes, 2023 has broken records for colorado with 2 ef3’s, in the area that i live in (colorado springs/fountain) there have been many tornado warnings and it was really exciting for me because im intrigued by tornadoes, nobody was injured but its just beautiful storms all around! Also side note, in 2008 there was an ef3 in Windsor, colorado and somebody died by it, and thats where my cousins live. It was a crazy tornado and my cousin’s friend hid under the road and left his car because there was hail. Car totaled obviously

Hi Hank, Joel Ewing here. Nice, informative vid, bro. I've said for years that if a beginning chaser wants to make sure to bag a nader every year, all he or she needs to do is set up a tent and live in Cheyenne Wells or Anton/Akron Colorado thru mid-May until June 30th and you'll get your tornado. Washington and Yuma Counties....guaranteed. That June 4th '15 day that I'm sorry to hear that you missed was one of my top scores in 30 + yrs. of chasing. We must have bagged 8-10 gorgeous naders....but I DID almost get my chase partner and myself very literally killed by that "big" one that was so long lived and followed behind all the other photogenic ones. Yeah, I 'bout dirtied my diapers that day.

After living in Colorado my whole life, this video gave me quite a different perspective. I used to live out in Weld County as a kid, and I remember getting annoyingly frequent tornado watch alerts on my TV, and I never really understood why they happened so frequently, my parents had always told me that the mountains stopped tornadoes from forming. But after seeing this video, it put the mountains in a whole new light. So, the mountains can almost boost the chances of a tornado forming (If I understood the video correctly). Never would’ve guessed that myself! Amazing video as always, Hank, hope you stay safe out there!

i live in a super rural town in the eastern plains of colorado and we see funnel clouds every single time it storms. most of the time the just break and never form anything dangerous. once we got a weather alert saying that a tornado touched down in a small town about 10 minutes away from us, so we drove to the town and watched the tornado tear across the open pasture. absolutely beautiful, one of the best experiences ive ever had in colorado, nothing else is like it. almost identical to the one at 6:14 for anybody wondering.

We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate how you often incorporate the latest scientific research findings into your voice-over narrations (E.G., in one of your other videos you interviewed Dr. Leigh Orf and shared his supercomputer model's findings on how cold air from a storm's RFD can assist in the formation of a tornado). Your videos are truly both entertaining and educational! Just a minor correction on Colorado's tornado fatality count: Since 1952 there has been five tornado-related deaths. One in 2008 (Weld County), two in 2007 (town of Holly), and two in 1960 (Sedgwick County). Again, another excellent video, Hank! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and videography!

Hank, what is the connection between dew points and tornado formation? Do higher dew points indicate more moisture content for storm creation? If so, how does pressure play into that? The local weatherman says low pressure systems lead to storms.
@PecosHank6 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin. I'll give this a quick whirl... Dew points are the temperatures water vapor condenses and are a good indication of how much moisture is in a layer of air. The more moist, the more unstable, the more likely a storm will develop. Think of air pressure as a force pushing down on a column of air. The more pressure, the more densely packed the air molecules, the less space for H2o molecules. At higher elevations the pressure force is less. The air is thinner allowing for more H2o molecules. So basically for 2 parcels of air the same size and dew point, you get more bang for the buck with the dew point in a lower pressure.

They're clear and very easy to understand and that's a great thing. Also had a chuckle with the "Tornado Happy Hour" sign. Keep on going, you're doing awesome.

I've lived in Colorado most of my life and it feels like my town is in a bubble, to say the least. All the stroms that produce tornadoes in Weld county and further east pass right over us, never dropping anything more than hail. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't disappointing.

Man I've lived in colorado for 14 years and I just found out we can get tornadoes. Granted I'm 17 so I haven't been around much but still

Probably best you found out from a video, as opposed to finding out by being caught in one lol

I did not know that a county in Colorado holds the lead for the most tornadoes! I like all the facts and very well done explanations of why. A very interesting video!

There isn’t a storm chaser that is more interesting, or makes better videos, than Pecos Hank. Everything down to the music is so well blended and videos are extremely informative and easy to understand. Love this channel.
