LoL, I had the same sock issue on the AT years ago. I know some squirrel had a warm stinky nest. I never leave items out now.

Salts are hard to find in nature and we concentrate it with every bead of perspiration. I have heard they are attracted to the salts found in our sweat and why they chew on or straight take worn hiker clothing.

I lost a pair of shoes that way!! I never place them on or in the “porch” of my tent all the way in now. On another subject are you cold soaking or cooking? If cooking what is your system? Thanks. 😎
