My Timbren SES Installation Video: • Timbren SES (Suspensio...
In this video I talk about a simple suspension upgrade you can make to your tow vehicle. This upgrade will have a huge impact on the ride quality and stability of your tow vehicle. Around 1.5 years ago I installed the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System (SES) on our 2019 Chevy Silverado. The Timbren SES replace the small factory bump stops on your vehicle. This is alternative solution to installing air bags on your vehicle. In my opinion, these are a much simpler and superior upgrade than air bags. They do not require any adjustments, they are easy to install yourself, and they are much cheaper solution. You also don't have to worry about them leaking or not holding pressure because they are a solid block of rubber.
Between all our gear, passengers, ATV, and tongue weight on our trailer, we haul around 2,000lbs of payload. We have been very pleased with the additional stability we experience while towing our travel trailer. We no longer get the side to side sway or rocking motion we used to get. I would strongly recommend these to anyone towing/hauling heavy loads. Thanks for watching!

I just installed them to reduce the squat on my 1500 Ram when my TT was hooked up to it. Installation was easy. Old units popped out very easily. I found the SES did not push in easily, and I had no prybar. So just filled the space with scrap wood and lowered the bed which pushed them all the way home. Overall happy with the result. Small price to pay for what they add.

Hi Brian, I watched your video last week and installed these on my 2017 Ram 1500. I was very surprised at how easy the factory one's were to take out. Heck, I just grabbed them and they came right out. It's a wonder they never just fell out! Putting the Timbren's in wasn't bad. I jacked up the truck under the tow hitch like you did. I couldn't get them to stay up in the cup, so I put a 2 x 4 and a small 1/2" piece of wood the same size as the 2x4 and let the bed down with the jack. In they went! I hope they never fall out. I'm a little leery of that, since the factory one's came out with no resistance at all. Just pulled on them and out they came. I'll be glad when I hook up my travel trailer and put some more weight on them so I can be sure they are compressed in there and will stay. An awesome video and thanks for posting on how to change them!!!!!

Good stuff. Something to think about. I'm pretty happy with the ride of my half ton Ram pulling a 5,000 lb TT. There are so many cool gadgets for that 2-3 hundred dollar mark. . .I need to start prioritizing! I still think that the Micro-Air Easy Start for my A/C needs to stay at the top of my wish list.

Thank you! If you're setup is working for you, I'd say keep it! Like you said, there are a lot of cool gadgets out there for the $2-300 mark. That easy start was on my list last year. We actually installed one I bought on Ebay. It was not the Micro-Air Easy Start and a different manufacturer. It was around $120, however, I think we got what we paid for. It seems to work, but we still have issues with our generator tripping while running our AC. It's been hard to tell if it is the AC easy start or our generator. I haven't done a video on it because I'm still trying to figure it out and I definitely don't want to endorse a product if it's not working properly. I wish we would have just spent the extra cash and went with the Micro-Air because it get good reviews. Oh well!

I bought the Timbren SES for my 2002 Toyota Sequoia. Product was shipped from Timbren in Ontario, Canada to California via UPS ground. Not the fault of Timbren, but the shipping took nearly two weeks. Upon receipt of the product, I found that the bolt supplied to attach the rubber to the bracket would not fit through the supplied washer that Timbren ‘pre-loads’ in the rubber. I called Timbren and they confirmed that the wrong washer was supplied. Duh. Bad engineering/parts assembly. I ended up going to the local hardware store and bought 4 of the proper washers. I asked Timbren for a partial refund for the parts $2USD and for my trouble. They declined my request for a partial refund and are shipping me 2 washers from Canada. Short story, if I didn’t supply my own washers, I’d still be waiting for correct parts before I’d be able to install these $309 overgrown pencil erasers. Not impressed.

Hows it going Brian ....Are ya ready for spring ? I have 2 trucks 1 which is my Dodge Ram 2500 with air bags for the slide in camper. And I also I have a Toyota Tundra . Im thinking about finding a slide in camper as well for this truck too , a lighter set up for sure ....so thinking about adding a leaf spring kit . have you ever done that ? and if so does it work well ? Ok have a good spring & summer ... skiing is done down here Its fishing time for me now .

Yo man! I am more than ready for Spring! I want to get out and go camping! How about you? I have never done an add a leaf spring kit. However, the kits that I have seen don't look super difficult to install. I would definitely recommend being mindful of the payload capacity of the Tundra with a truck camper. Those leafs are just meant to take the sag out of the truck and not increase the payload capacity. Bummer that ski season is over, it wasn't anything the brag about here. How about by you? Funny enough, we just got a decent sized snow storm hitting the state right now. I've seen a ton of guys hitting up the river lately!

No, not at all. Once I have maybe 500-600lbs in the truck, they engage a little bit. But I do not notice any difference at all. I also have a 2500. Maybe if you had a 1500 you may notice a difference. Thanks for watching!

I am looking at putting these on a 2020 Chevrolet half ton 2 Wheel Dr. I will be towing a large travel trailer and about 90% of my tongue weight with the travel trailer. These seem like they will be a good option what do you think. Also does it affect the weight distribution hitch?
@ColoradoCamperman

So far I really like the Timbrens. As long as you are still under your payload capacity, they should work well for you. If your weight distribution hitch is already setup for your truck and trailer right now, you will likely need to adjust it after installing the Timbrens. Let me know how they work out for you! I don’t understand how it would make a “stiffer ride” on the 1/2 ton trucks if it isn’t engaged unless u have a load on. Do they mean its stiffer when loaded because thats the idea🤷🏼‍♂️ unloaded I can’t see it being an issue
@ColoradoCamperman
@ColoradoCamperman Жыл бұрын
Not sure since I have a 3/4 ton truck, that's what I've read from reviews. I'm guessing because they already have softer suspension it may take just a little bit of weight for them to be engaged. I love mine. I can't imagine not having them on my truck. Thanks for watching!

So is the purpose of this is to make contact with the axle when 500lbs or more is added to the back? My 06 f-350 rides like an old log wagon empty... I'm not sure if my truck would benefit from these. My trailer is only a 25 footer so we don't get much feed back when pulling. Perhaps if we had a longer trailer??
@ColoradoCamperman
@ColoradoCamperman 3 жыл бұрын
Lol, your truck sounds like it has a stiff ride! If it does, It probably would not benefit from having these. These are more ment for trucks that have a softer suspension to help stiffen the ride so you don't feel the trailer as much. Hopefully that makes sense! Sounds like you have plenty truck for your size trailer.

Might be dumb question, when you setup your weight distribution hitch, did you have to make any adjustments for toe ball height or was there not any change? Thank in advance

I did not have to make any adjustments on my truck. The Timbrens have been great! I can't recommend them enough. I just towed an 8,000lb excavator on a 3,000lb trailer last week. I could really tell the Timbrens were engaged pretty much the whole time I was towing. It made for a much more comfortable and safe driving experience. Thanks for watching!

If you go over a speed bump with a half ton, you'll feel a little bump. If you go over a speed bump in a 3/4 ton, your butt will catch 3-4 inches of air. However, throw 2,000lbs in the back of a half ton and you feel every crack/rock/bump on the road and your steering sucks. Throw 2,000lbs in the back of a 3/4 ton and you're suddenly driving a Cadillac. Towing/hauling with a 3/4ton truck is significantly better and more stable than a half ton. But your ride quality is not as good when you are not towing/hauling. Hope that all makes sense. Good luck with the new truck and thanks for watching.

I can't decided between these and a typical helper spring. I drive a 2013 F150 and tow a 5,000 camper that sags the bed a bit more than I like. Any thoughts.
@ColoradoCamperman
@ColoradoCamperman 3 жыл бұрын
You're talking about a bumper pull camper and not a truck camper, right? If you're talking about a bumper pull, these should help, although they do not completely take out the sag. They help more with stability while towing. On my truck, they took a little bit of sag out, but not much. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

I've thought about these for my 2012 Ram 1500. But it has a leveling kit, as soon as I put a couple hundred lbs in the bed it sags which is normal. But if it didn't have the leveling kit the sag would actually level it out. Not sure what to do.
@ColoradoCamperman
@ColoradoCamperman 3 жыл бұрын
The TImbrens ultimately help with ride quality and stability while towing. When you're towing/hauling a heavy load, if your rear end is bouncing/swaying more or the ride quality suffers, these would likely help. Have you towed/hauled heavy loads with your truck and the leveling kit? Do you notice bouncing/swaying in the rear? How is your ride quality while towing?

Few bud lights down & picked them directly from their Whitby factory . The cost was slightly more than going through an independent dealer, but same day calling & pick up was awesome. Personally, every vehicle with a tow package must come with these beefy bump stops & must be adjustable based on different situations.
