Broken Tractor! Major Set Back for our Greenhouse Build

This weekend we've started back filling the foundation for our greenhouse build. We've utilized both our tractor and Kioti track loader, on loan, for moving a ton of dirt. However, we experienced a major set back when Bryan discovered the backhoe was broken on the tractor.

Pretty common for this unit. it's a structural "stress riser", its a matter of time and use, not a sign of abuse. These sub frames need fish plates welded to the sides of the sub frame tubes. the newer sub frames sold with these machines have had a design change to address this. The kioti forums have lots of info from users on designs of their fixes. I recommend a longer fish plate running the height of the double horizontal tubes near the backhoe, about 16" back from the break, and then taper forward, narrowing to the height of the single height of the tube steel about 24" forward of the break.

Looks clean, out in the open, tis weldable. Buy some plate steel to weld over the fix and should be better than new. My old Century Buzz Box AC230 could do a fine weld with little effort.

OMGoshhhhhh, Bryan & Amy that's wild to just have that much metal fatigue that your back hoe breaks off like that. So glad you didn't get hurt from stored energy like in a hydrolic line or mid scoop with the excavator bucket. Hope you'll get it fixed soon enough to get back to work on the green house and finish what ya need to before the snow begins falling.

👍 Just break out the welder,repair and add strengthening plates or it will just happen again as will a replacement. Just curious, why no waterproofing on that Styrofoam? I thought that was required below ground level. Good luck with the backhoe situation.

looks like a call to your friendly weilding company to get it wielded with some braces. They should be able to come out and get that done.

No way you just backed up and that happened? The Kioti backhoe is 1 of the strongest setups there is! It's not just a 3-point hitch setup its on a separate frame. I call bull! " I take it back just googled it and it is a flaw, said some dealers cover it somedon'tt? bad wields on that point led to failure!" good luck!

Go back to the tractor dealer and ask if there is something they can do to help overcome the obvious shortcomings of the tractor and equipment. Woe is me with so much to do and no tractor to do it...(sob) (sob)
