I have experienced the same issues with snow removal as you. I purchased the exact same snowblower with the same options last year for my JD 3320 open station which I use to clear the 1100' driveway at the cabin. I have owned both Allied & Woods rear mounted snowblowers which were great units. I found the Woodmaxx to be everything and more of those two quality units. I am extremely happy with this purchase. IMO with this purchase you now have a great snow removal set-up; A snowblower on the rear for +2" or so snowfalls and drifting. A loader mounted plow to quickly clean and gather the liter snowfalls/drifts to one side to be blown. Another plus is the snowblower makes great ballast. I reduced the time to clear my driveway by 60% with the addition of a snowblower.

This is amazing to hear and love that you are happy with your purchase. 60% timesaver-wow!!

As an ex northerner, who lived in a lake affect snow area here's a couple of hints for your snowblower. If your area receives wet heavy snow I would suggest waxing the chute and the impeller, that wax will help to keep the chute clear. You will want to keep your skis down so that you can build up a base of packed snow over the stone driveway. Rock throwing is not advised. You may know this already but just in case you didn't I thought that I would throw in my two cents in.
@ColoradoMountainLiving4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I did notice that the inside of the chute was lined with a high grade polymer, I imagine to make it more "slippery."
@alanswanson19524 жыл бұрын
They actually make a couple different kinds of spray for that. Teflon and graphite. I used both they work about the same. But check if yours is plastic coated if is safe to use. Mine is older and just metal

Good to see Viggo playing with his Kong. He is a great dog to let you work on him without complaining. A fellow employee lives up on the mountain and uses a rear mount snow blower to clear his road to get out. He had a local Tent and Awning shop make a set of clear vinyl curtains like they use on boats that use Velcro straps to attach it to the canopy frame that is on his ROPS. I believe it buttons to the fenders so that it covers the rear and both sides. It keeps a bunch of the snow off of him and he is very pleased with that. You may not have that problem but this may be a solution that is less than 5K if you want/need less snow down your neck.

Solid piece of equipment. QUALITY‼️ My only suggestion, you will have alot of snow blowing back at you, you might want some sort of enclosure for yourself. You won't regret it. I have the same blower here in Wisconsin we get everything light snow and very wet snow not a problem with that blower ,we have a 300 foot gravel driveway 16 feet wide and 1 mile of trails in the woods we keep clear for the dogs. It went from 6 hours with a bucket to 45 minutes on a 8 inch snowfall. But now I have to blow snow for three neighbors.
@ColoradoMountainLiving4 жыл бұрын
That is great to hear! Totally amazing. Some storms; especially would require 2 or 3 separate plow sessions, since the drifting overnight would mean doing the job over again, and much more difficult with compacted snow. LOL funny now your job has increased for different reasons.We have a neighbor with a large excavator who clears the neighbors drive.

One more thought..I'm 70 and move snow commercially. Updated to a jd 4052r cab unit and frt mount express 72 inch snow pusher(Hannah was grt to work with.also i have frontier rear mount 72 snowblower. That is a good looking snowblower. It should serve you well. In case you were unaware, pull type (inverted) rear mount snowblowers are available for tractors. It takes a minute to wrap your head around driving through the snow that you are going to snow blow. But they work great.
@ColoradoMountainLiving4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. We're excited. Didn't know they made those, but cool to know!
@fredhinck88474 жыл бұрын
Pull types work well in heavy forest situations with fallen snow. In heavy drifting snow, they are useless as you can't drive through the drifts.
@bwillan4 жыл бұрын
@@fredhinck8847 That is their one down side. However, if you leave the FEL on with a bucket, then drifts can be knocked down to the point where you can drive through and continue with your inverted blower.

I live about 1 mile east of you. I’ve used a tractor PTO snowblower on my road (1500-feet) for more than 40 years. Great tool to have. Spring and Fall snows can be problematic due to heavy moist conditions . During 2003 7-foot snow fall took me 2days to get out. Using loader would have taken MUCH longer. Cab would be great plus for you. Was for me. Good luck. BTW vids getting much better. Well Done!

Wow is that right? One of the Gulch roads? Great to hear it’s held up for so long. I wondered about the heavier, wetter snow, but then those can be faster melting. Wow what was that 7 foot snowfall like? Saw the pictures and heard a few stories from locals. Did you dig some neighbors out? Thanks for the support- been spending more effort on the video skills & upgrading equipment now that we can afford to.
@johnmcmillan70484 жыл бұрын
First driveway off highway. Brown steel pipe gate. Little more than mile. The way to take care of wet snow is to tackle it early in the morning before it warms up. Also important to not go clear down to gravel. Obviously very abrasive. Oh yes... wet snow will pack into chute. Have some kind of tool on the tractor to help clear the chute. Your snowblower is a good one. I’ve been looking at them for awhile now. I am about ready to replace mine. Good luck!
@dallasbaiton32343 жыл бұрын
If you have a plow still you will find you can use both to your advantage by plowing light snow to one side and then blowing the ridge away. The plow is much faster moving and the blower will get rid of that ridge so you don’t getting drifting. We do use both and it makes for a much faster day . You can mount both on at the same time on one machine. You will in time upgrade to a cab but for now use what you have . Good luck and the blower is a good investment for roadways with limited space for snow .
@ColoradoMountainLiving3 жыл бұрын
We sold the plow, it wasn't working out for us because we didn't have the hydraulics hooked up and we had too much snow to deal with often. Glad to have the blower; last year we ran out of room to put the snow.

You will Love the snow blower. Just remember any rock or debris that goes in comes out like a bullet so aim wisely. We have a front mount but it blows the snow and I get the spray back in my face. Bought a tent style cab enclosure but the windows have to be wiped constantly. "Similar to a cloth top on a Jeep". I think a rear mount is probably the best choice.

We hope it will save quite a bit of time; and a good reminder to use judiciously at the bottom of the drive, near the neighbor's house.
@alanswanson19524 жыл бұрын
The best part of a snow blower is that there is no pile to drift from the snow kind of disappears into the existing snow. It takes some practice to find that sweet spot of rmp and tractor speed were the snow just flies.as mentioned with a gravel driveway this the snow away from cars and the house.

Greetings from Wisconsin! This is my 1st video of yours because I was researching this blower. I have a Kubota L2501 which I know is a "25hp" but it's also a 100c.i. that i believe was the same engine that powered the L3400. I think my 2501 would easily handle this blower. My other choice is the 60" and that's the width of my tractor with spacers. I've got a 700lb rear 72" blade tht I've dug up mile long driveways with no problem, and a 72" 3ft high front snow pusher. Which after seeing your video of trying to clear that drive with a bucket got me thinking that I've long thought the perfect setup is a snow pusher in front and blower in back. I just feel this blower is far and away the best deal out there. On those cold windy days, I'm not above putting my sled helmet on my grape. Looks funny maybe, but I'm warm, and dry. Beautiful dog, I've got a chocolate lab and huge black lab/ mastiff (he's my avatar pic, with a beer) . They love their Kongs! Made me 😃. God bless and can't wait for the next video. I've got a few of me working with my pusher and back blade. P.S. we got our 1st snow today, nothing much, but it's here.

The only problem we had with a rear mounted Snow Blower was it was hard on your neck from having to keep looking behind. One note on what we did. If they predict a heavy snow, we would go out and mount tall orange flags, like tall wire antennas to show where the driveway was, and where it was NOT. One year before we put up the tall orange flags our snow blowing ended up in a small pile of rocks off of the driveway and it caused damage to our snow blower. Some way to mark the driveway is a must.
@ColoradoMountainLiving4 жыл бұрын
Great tip! Was thinking of using the orange tipped fiberglass poles , or similar to mark the edges
@arnoldromppai53954 жыл бұрын
hitting therocks should not have done any damage at all, if you had proper shear pins in, unless it was a very light made unit, i can see, with this snow blower the auger is made out of light 3/16" steel it looks like and yeas that will bend up even from large iice chunks as they will not brake the shear pins, i dont buy the costly shear pin, i use grade 6 bolts and put a cut in the bolt were it needs to brake on my band saw, about 1/3rrd into the boltnever use grade 5 bolts, they are to soft, and just bend, and hard to get them out..
@talfacprez4 жыл бұрын
@@arnoldromppai5395 shear pins shut you down though. You have to go back to your shop and fix the snow blower and you lose time.
@arnoldromppai53954 жыл бұрын
@@talfacprez what?? your never shut down more then 10 min or less.. you keep extras and a hammer, punch and 2 9/16 wrench in the tractor tool box, you get off the tractor replace them and you up and going in know time, why on earth would you go back to your shop.. just just makes no seance. they all have shear pins, same as walk behind units, hay balers, and it is only one that will brake, they are very easy to get to,

Can't wait to see your first use video with this snow blower. This is the exact blower I want to get later on, not this year. I have a 7 foot grader blade rear and fabbed up a home made pusher for my front. Using a 7 foot rear mounted 3 point blade. it floats without using the loader float. That cost me 700 bucks in total material to convert plus 200 bucks for the adapter plate to skid steer quick attach. May your snow removal be so much more enjoyable now. I cut my time down by 70 percent easily ,,,I like watching your videos nice job

You can create a snow shield on the tractor using a pvc frame to hang plastic on with magnets to stick the lower edge to the tractor. Not as good as a cab but better then being out in the blow created by the blower and any wind. No drilling into the roll bar so ubolts to clamp around it are the best way to do it. Can do vertical supports for the frame using magnets glued into pvc end caps to stick to the metal of the tractor for no fastener setups and a peaked top to not let snow build up on top of the structure and rip the plastic.

This is probably an idea we could implement, fairly simple-thanks!

I built a custom roof for my tractor help keep the snow off of you and I have a back window in it stops the snow from blowing in your face

I never heard someone regret having a snowblower unless its junk to begin with. But now you have one your going to wish you had a cab on the tractor from all the snow blowing back at you when using it. It gets old when it gets in you face constantly and you cant see a dam thing

This sounds like the last 2 winters trying to plow snow on an open tractor during a snowstorm with 20mph winds, wearing a fur hat and ski goggles. Fashioning a DIY cab sounds like a good idea.
