Lol, it is funny how the moose just stroll on by while you're there working. Good luck

Great progress guys. Back in the 70's, a contractor here in the Adirondacks built a number of highly-efficient homes using only solar for the heating system. And he too used air ducts buried in sand to store the summer heat in, and would release it during the winter. He called it a 'sand battery'. I toured one of these beautiful homes in January when it was 10 degrees out, and it was above 70 degrees inside. No central heating system at all, just a small Jotul cast iron wood stove for backup. I am excited about your build, as I've been using solar heat principles as much as possible in my home builds. (Two post & beam framed homes). I built one for each wife lol. Amazing moose shots.

Hello Amy & Bryan from Phil in Utah just over the Mountains from ya. That green house sure looks complex I hope once it's done and you plant your first crop it will be a huge success.

Fingers crossed! Thanks Phil! We just watched some other KZbin videos of greenhouse domes to get us motivated and hopeful!!

The tool is called an excavator. Makes handling those "small" pipes easier also

Yep we’re hiring one out soon.

You can use dish soap to lubricate the joints in the pipes. Dirt Perfect is always doing it on their channel.

Bryan my vision is permanently damaged after seeing the length and girth on that pipe, lol. Great job guys Thanks for Sharing project is surely coming along, do you think the grow dome will be up before Christmas?
@ColoradoMountainLivingАй бұрын
Haha- that is the goal, certainly depending on the weather. But we’ve had a lot of competing weekend commitments over the summer (amys art shows- but gotta pay for the project somehow!) along with scheduling delays. We have one more week weekend away but our weekends should be free the rest of the year, so we can get more done.

Better put a barriers around your foundation you might find a moose in it.
@ColoradoMountainLivingАй бұрын
Hah! No lie- we had 5 moose hanging around this morning .

Can’t tell if you’re correcting something that was said or referring to the fact the foundation isn’t backfilled yet.

@@ColoradoMountainLiving, this person is trying to show how smart they are. Typical troll. In the video you said that you would be harvesting the air from the ground. Obviously you are referring to the heat you would get from the ground and most can figure out what you’re saying. Some feel the need to correct others. Why can’t people just watch and enjoy the video. You both are really doing a great job. Love the channel. Best of luck as you continue to improve the property.

@@906Dreams The majority of the heat stored in the climate battery comes from cooling the greenhouse, this is why the amount of winter sun is so important for climate batteries. The mass around the tubes isnt instantly recharged with heat from the surrounding ground, this is why you can only access the heat in the mass out to about 8" from the tube wall in a 24 hour period. If you google for soil conductivity and diffusivity you`ll get an idea of how fast heat moves through the ground.
