That diagonal from lightest blue to darkest navy would be a gorgeous fade 😍

I really want to do a diamond focusing on those diagonal gradients as a fade.

Ooooo.... I may have to fiddle with the DOS of the red and blue so it wouldn't just be completely red heavy, but this sounds fun!

I think tequila sunrise would be a fun one to try. Rows can be grenadine and columns can be orange juice. Don't forget the cocktail umbrella! Edit: How fun would it be to do a bunch of yarns based off of cocktails!? You could go really literal like the above or you could go really impressionistic like, "This is what martinis make me think of" Martini would be a hand paint of a tonal gray with a small yellow olive section and the smallest stripe of red for the pimento.

I've been wanting to do a purple/black gradient for a gift I can't find yarn for. Ihave been putting off doing the math. Thanks for this lol They all look awesome!

I think it helped that I had a good feel for the blue and black before I started, but I think if you just mixed the dyes for the first or last column and checked on a paper towel that could help you determine if you're on the right track. :D

I LOVE these types of experiments. I'm of a more scientific mind when it comes to dyeing because I want to be able to do it again. This method is really good for showing the various depths of shade and color combinations.

It is such a handy reference for doing something in a reproducible way. Some dyers make swatch cards that they can flip through to see the various hues and recipes. :D

I love when you make these types of videos. It's so interesting. I was just thinking thought, what would happen if you did a triangle with just florescent pink, yellow, and frozen blue (or Jacquard Turquoise)?

I haven't done with Dharma yet, but here is a triangle with Dharma hot fuschia, turquoise, and yellow :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWXHaIqfhcSLrdk

I think it may be easier to use Black even more diluted than to also use gray. (If you see DYepot Weekly 117 Dharma silver gray and True Black cross over at certain DOS.) I do want to try one of these with gray, though.

ooh this is such a cool technique! i really want to try this to make a blanket for my new little nibling coming in november, now i just need to decide on what colours to use! edit: i'm thinking yellow and turquoise at a really low dos could be very cute! (and gender neutral!)

Are you using hot boiling water to the cups and solutions? I am just learning and I am just fascinated, thank you so much been watching tons of your videos, it is soo fun to watch you
@ChemKnitsTutorials3 жыл бұрын
I think boiling water would melt these cups, but I might add boiling water to jars if I was using glass. I did a "cool vat" to let the dye soak into the yarn and then used steam to set the color after the fact. Not all dyes will absorb this well at room temperature, but these ones did. :D

I love the color mixing episodes, it inspires me to pick up some paint and mix, just to see what happens. Closed captioning doesn't know what a dye bath is, it thinks you're saying something uh rather embarrassing 🙀

Do you think this method ight work with four colors in the same format?
@ChemKnitsTutorials Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried to do this with 4 colors before, but it could be awesome! I might reduce the amount of dye for the darkest colors... but I'm going to play with some numbers now.
