One of my favorite ways to tip, and one that seems pretty happily accepted that I’ve done is placing $1 hard ways for the dealers. I learned to play the iron cross strategy from you and was playing that and the hard ways for the dealers this one time. I made sure the dealer knew that I would need to be reminded to keep the hard ways on for them. They knew what strategy I was using and helped me keep it going. Once I forgot to place the field bet and a 9 came up. I thought (because it’s a field bet) that I had won. I realized I had forgotten to place my bet and groaned out loud saying “aww man. I forgot to put the field out.” The pot boss told the dealer to pay me anyhow. He said “you’re taking care of my guys, so I’m taking care of you.” I’ve never forgotten that. It was something he didn’t have to do. On a side note, thanks for making these videos. They are entertaining and informative. I enjoy them immensely.

Thank you, Jeremy and John. As a craps dealer, a lot of our regulars will toss a buck or two and say, "Dealer's Choice." They want to make a wager for us, but leave it up to us for the decision making. A lot of times when the point is 6 or 8, I'll just tell them, "We'll get on the 6 with you. Thanks for the bet!"... and I'll put the bet in the center of the box for that number. That way we're rooting for them to hit the point, and we both win. Other times, players will just hand us chips, and as John said, it's guaranteed money for the dealers. I appreciate both kind of tips. When the player makes a wager for us, it makes us feel like we're in the game with them, so it's a little more exciting. 😁 Thanks again for the video!

Just recently, I ended up rolling a multitude of sixes with pseudo-setting the dice. I ended up placing an extra dollar or two as a pass for the dealer. The boxman and the rest of the dealers were astonished at the number of sixes I rolled and the money they got extra really got them excited. I was pretty sure the boxman examined the dice after I 7'd out.

When I first started playing craps, I would make a bet "for the boys". My wife was with me one of those times. She hit my arm and pointed to the female dealer and said they weren't all boys. The female dealer said she worked hard to become "one of the boys" and didn't mind at all.

Profited $435.00 this morning at the Craps table thanks to your training videos. Shooter b4 me was Hot (10 + rolls b4 Big Red arrived). $30 6/8 place bets. Gave the Dealer $3 off the break and started winning field and boxes. Gave all my ones to the dealer on the box wins and they "hooked" me up on my buy bet for the VIG. Pit Boss and Box man was very kind to me... Karma came back 40 min later when I went to BJ and hit 2 back to back huge side bets (over $500) and took care of that dealer too!

I've only been to Vegas twice. But we cruise very often. The dealers on the cruise ships always tell me they'd rather "play". So I am always putting money in for them, especially if I'm winning. One of the best things for me about cruising is getting to know the crew. The dealers on the ship are crew too and it just makes the whole game more fun when they see you coming to the table and are happy you're there!

I didn't realize how much the dealers depended on tips. I definitely tip when a dealer pays attention to my strategy or answers my dopey questions. But I've wondered why some people seem to tip extravagantly, even when losing. It's good to know they might not expect such a good tip when you're losing. I'll have to figure out my 20% the next time I win... Great topic...

I really appreciate that you did this video, I teach this a lot in my classes. I will ALWAYS bet a buck for the dealers on the Hard ways, and when I parlay my bet, I know they can't so i bump it up to 5. No better feeling than hitting a hard way/parlay with the dealers! But that's just me. I also tip heavy in the beginning with the cocktail wait staff, you will get awesome service and probably not have to even ask, they just keep bringing them.

I didn't know you could ask the dealers what bets they prefer, more knowledge gained from Color Up! I usually make a $1 pass line dealer bet early on, then put one out every hand or two and maybe add some odds if I'm doing well, then tip out when I leave.

Great PSA. Many dealers across the world thank you. You will definitely gain an advantage over the non tippers as a bonus, you will get more pull with the dealers and the box man. They will look after you and will aid you and you will definitely receive more attention when booking bets and getting paid. It’s all situational, most dealers will be grateful, but some burnt out dealers won’t care and I recommend finding a crew that you mesh with. Win or lose, I guarantee you will have at least enjoyed yourself a bit more.

Two years ago Linda and I took a cruise around the British Isles. The casino dealers were just terrific!!! They constantly watched what I was betting and helped me to make a better bet that was more advantageous to me. I had done really well in the casino on this particular trip and on the last night of the cruise , after I cashed out, I went back in and bought $50 worth of chips and gave it to the dealers telling them how much I appreciated the work they did. They were VERY expressive abut me doing this and I was glad I did.

Great video. I have always thought about this, but was nice to hear this from a stickman/dealer. One time I thought about a FireBet and how the last 2 times: the casino brought in the Bank changers. Bam. I set up my Firebet with a Dealers bet of $5 and ask them to keep it quiet? There was zero yelling as we won the 5th different of 12 Pass/wins. 1hour 45 mins was a great day.
@lindafoxwood785 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. At the casino I was talking about: the FireBet thing. Every Time someone got to the 4th win of the FireBet, the casino would call in the "Parade" / "Circus" to disrupt the table and shooter. They always brought in the Bank Box and the radio phone: "We have a FireBet here - We need a Bank" . What I was saying, I understood this and "TIPPED" the dealers for a FireBet and begged them to keep our table quiet. I mean, if the crew wanted an extra $125 or more tips on a FireBet win, they should help me win too. :)

I always toke my pass line bet (don’t forget that if you put shoes on your pass line; you need to put little booties on the dealer’s bet 😂) The other bet I love to make is 3-way Yo whenever a new shooter is coming out (me, the boys, and the shooter). And yes I realize the EV on such a wager is horrible. If I am the shooter and the point is possible hard (4,6,8,10); I will take that number hard 2-ways. One correct on the video: The dealer can press their winnings; but you can’t notify them to press their wager after the win like you would on your bet. You have to announce you are requesting “Player Control” on the dealer bet prior to the roll.

This video was very helpful for the "how". For the "how much", I'd say it depends on your bets. If you're get betting $5 on the pass line, a $1 toke is 20%. But if you're playing a $25 table, having the house play with you for the same $1 is only 4%. I'm not saying always put out 20%, but it should be somewhat relative to your bankroll or bets. If you can't afford to give an extra $5 to the house, you probably shouldn't be playing a $25 table in the first place.
@sarry4195 жыл бұрын
Long read ahead Tipping is something I see almost no one besides my own family do. My general tipping comes with a don't line bet for dealers, at table minimum, that anyone can put odds on; yes that's right a dealer's line bet can have odds come from anyone. I will add odds when I win other bets. I usually have a timer going on my watch so I do it 1-2 times a dealer shift. I do announce every dealer bet I make on craps and I put those bets (if self-service) in areas where it is very clear that its a dealer bet like directly on the 9 in the field. If I am place betting ; (normally Iron cross) I siphon a dollar off every 1-3 wins (depending on attitude and helpfulness) then the dealer gets it after the roll. If the dealer wants to play it they don't get the siphon during that. These bets are piggybacked so they can continue to reap the rewards of the bet and not just once. When I leave if I am losing I leave all my chips for the dealers. If I am winning, its all whites and up to 2 reds on a color up. These tips are separate from the cocktail waitress which just get tipped when I order a drink.

Your videos r great. I am a good shooter with dice setting. I was doing an Iron where I regress after a certain number of hits with any numbers. I was one of 4 people at the table. I actually got pretty hot and after 2 point hits the dealer knew my exact pattern. I ended up with a $54 profit for the night and left the "extra" $4 for him. Now I think i should've sprinkled more in throughout the night or tipped more. I tend to scale my tip based on winnings but also reserve some if I'm losing. Thanks for the new perspective!

I've always viewed this as a service based game and threw in "for the boys", "dealer on the line" or "2 ways" throughout my stay at the table. If a dealer is a bump on a log w/ zero personality, then my thinking is if he/she is that out of touch with a customer, than works both ways and no tip. If a dealer makes the effort to see my game play style after a couple passes, where I don't have to keep repeating my bets and they already know where I want my bets when I drop my chips then I make it a point to be sure to tip out generously when I color up to leave the table after I'm done playing.

Great video with real world advice. Everyone is an employee unless you own the casino. And those working minimum wage appreciate your gratuity. The concept of tipping started in English taverns “to insure promptitude” or TIP. Thus the whales/vip's would get better service although method did not travel well to America as it highlighted a class system (which most countries have regardless of what they say) and in some instances they brought slavery into the debate! In bartendering the change used to go into a tip glass and when it got to a certain amount the patron would receive their next drink "on the house". But good bartenders do more than mix your drink or uncork a bottle, they keep the bar clean, tidy and well stocked. They give advice on drinks (and life if you ask them). In a Casino environment, ladies walk around in heels for 8+ hours a day, least you can do it give them a couple a bucks a round, same with dealers. No fun standing at a table "taking" your hard earned money every hand, and they have to give advice, make change, watch their work area But if it is an exciting table, with plenty dialogue, make sure the staff know they did a good job by tipping them. You help them out, they will help you too.

Thanks for the video. I usually tip $6 across a few times during the session. I also usually just split my $1s at the color up. I was working the dealers pretty hard with lots of movement/action/different strats so even though I was down a little I just dumped them my entire $1 stack which happened to be $28. I hadn't even counted it as part of my winnings/lose for the session so why not, right.

I ALWAYS tip the dealer! they are there to keep you straight. Most people think the dealer is working against them, NO, they are keeping the game straight & moving. The dealer is just like the bartender and your server. I always tip the waitress/bartender a couple bucks for each drink why not the guy who is working hard keeping my money straight! They are your most valuable asset at the table. plus you can get your drink on and they help you keep it together while you play! Most of them are fun to talk with as well!

I’m rarely at the table more than an hour hour. Even if I lose my bankroll, I pull a 20 out of my pocket and put it on the table. I’ve had my share of good and bad dealers.

He is wrong on place bets. It could certainly be that every house is different, but I've played all over, and when I place inside bets I just put an extra dollar on each one for the crew, and I always tell them to press $1 and keep the rest. They place their bets right, middle edge of the square. I've never had an issue with that. I also love throwing the stick guy $6 on the come out, and telling them "2 way horn high you pick". I'm a poker dealer. I like to think that I tip pretty generously. A lot of players need to realize that tipping goes a long way just like you both mentioned in this video. The crew always looks out for me. There's even times where I didn't book action, and the box man knows I've been on then bet every time, and they've paid me. Bottom line when you take care of them, they take care of you.

I see the place bets for dealers be placed along the center line between the numbers. This is to identify dealer bets in Illinois and Missouri otherwise the commission calls it out as under minimum table limit

yeah, I've seen that too

very funny, remembering one time when i was playing conservatively on a cold table- $44 inside after point was set, as soon as 1 number hit i'd pull all my bet numbers down (leaving my don't pass bet with odds) the base dealer was getting upset for doing work off the first roll and just looking at me weirdly with a stank eye and kind of pretending to not hear me at first so i ended up not tipping him, base dealers switched out and this one was super awesome and didnt complain at all or anything, i was the only one winning at the table with everyone else playing pass line and losing after the first number (max rolls i saw in an hour was 4) and i'd throw the guy my $1's or id throw them on the hardways or the any 7 bet for the dealer and the stank eye dealer came back to see me tipping this guy and he wasnt happy but hey, dont get mad at someone for playing the table state. have a good attitude, and who knows you can probably get some decent tips

I always tip on the Field. Easy one time bet for the dealer and no pressure to add odds for them. At the end, if I did ok, I’ll throw in a chip to the dealers not to be bet.

Lately I've been doing more dark side playing, so I tip at the color up (sometimes covering the hardways for them on the next shooter). If I play the pass line, I'll put a buck along side and when we get a point, I'll back it with full odds. Even we can't play the house more straight up than that. And those times when I've had my ass handed to me I'll take the last $10 or less, rap it on the table and tell them "The house ain't getting all of it".

House aint getting all of it - love that!

The secret: when you get your chips play all the hard ways first for the dealers. Don’t bet nothing for yourself till the next session I’ve been noticing they like that and it shows you think about others first.

I try my best to always read the people providing a service to me. People have bad days and I try to take that into account when I tip. I don’t necessarily tip based on my experience, but on theirs. Sounds backwards, but think of it like this: you’re the one fortunate enough to be at the casino (or restaurant, or whatever) and if the dealer (server, etc) is clearly trying hard to make you happy, a couple dollar tip may make their day a little better and pass that on to others. Point is, tip the dealer. Tip your server.

Not too long ago I was laughed at by the dealer cause I called for a 3-1, I said it'll be a 3-1. He just shook his head so I played a 3-1 for the crew, and bang!!!! It hit. Not too many days after that I played a few small bets for the crew as well but later on I played a two way ten hop, we hit the hard ten and they got a $29 jump.

I like to tip beside my pass line bet and or field bets. I agree that most players don't tip at all. Sad really since dealers math skills have to be sharp for the entire shift. I also watch to see if players do not tip the cocktail waitress and I tell her that I saw she got stiffed by a player and give her an extra tip from me. They seem to really appreciate this gesture. I only play pass line when I shoot. When I do I always put out socks and shoes for the dealers.

tipping is completely optional and personal. What determines the situation for me is whether or not the dealer hands off come bets to me or leaves the winnings in the come box for me to have to reach myself every roll of the dice. I find younger dealers especially offensive in this way, especially younger asian female dealers. I bet 132/136/137 across after the come out, full odds behind and a 10 come bet. On each number rolled I am down with full odds on that number and a fresh $10 coming. If a dealer is too dense to eventually understand this pattern, there is no tipping. If I am making money and the dealer acts professionally, I will bet $5 on a number for the dealers, but I control the bet. If the number hits, the winnings go into the box, but the bet stays up and I put another $5 on a different number. If I get all the numbers eventually covered for the dealers, I will let them decide whether to press their action or keep the bet at $5. It is the most fun and the dealers enjoy the action.

You are right, it’s personal and optional. I like your approach.

I always ask for a 2way for whatever I'm tipping and then I say I control the bet. They've always taken the win but left the bet. That way my tip goes farther and their tips have the potential of getting bigger.
@serbianh2o6235 жыл бұрын
You can ask for ANY bet to be 2way? Or just the place, lay etc and props?
@thomaspreston36185 жыл бұрын
when I am just playing just place 6 and 8, and when point is made and the next point is a 6 or 8, i will turn that point money into a two-way hard.

I think what the casinos should do is pool the tips based on games. I myself am a Roulette and Craps players and I know Craps people tend to jump from table to table looking for what is hot. So if I am tipping, then 90% of my tips are to Craps tables so the Craps Dealers as a whole should get the split. I wouldn't want that tip to go to Black Jack dealers, Poker dealers, etc because they didn't influence my tip.

What's the minimum on a dealer bet? If the table is 15$ do I have to bet 15 for them also or is it what ever I want even 1 dollar?
@ColorUp5 жыл бұрын
whatever you want, $1 is fine, no minimum

I’m liking that don’t pass for the dealers because once the point is set they are going to win that money at some point

Not exactly...point gets rolled and the bet is lost, but they are more likely to win than lose

I always toke the dealers straight up. I have had some tell me that’s better than making a big bet for them and having the chance to lose it.
