This is exactly the strategy I was taught in vegas when I walked up to an empty craps table at the Flamingo and told the dealers I didn’t know how to play. They patiently taught me the basics of the game, which bets were sucker bets, and I wound up grinding a couple of hundred bucks out of the table after an hour or two. Needless to say, I tipped them well. What a great way to learn the game!

So, I know this comment is a year after the video, but I've been practicing this strategy, and finally went to a local casino. Found an opening at a $10 table. Laid down $300 to start. Was about even when I got the dice. I held them for about 45 minutes, pretty much all numbers, when I did 7 out, I colored up for $933 (after a $10 dealer tip). The only regret was I didn't press my place bets enough, and I didn't play the ATS (which I actually HIT the ALL). I just wanted to thank you in helping me gain confidence. Now I just need to talk the wife into letting me go back, she thinks I broke even.

ATS is an additional bet, called All Tall and Small. Tall is the numbers 8,9,10, 11,12 and Small is 2,3,4,5,6. You can win either half all both for the All. So it’s 3 different bets, typical bet is $5-$1-$5,$5 for the tall $1 for the all and $5 for the small, check the payout

I just wanted to leave a shout out to you and John. I've been in Vegas for a month for work. I've always wanted to play craps. I've won $50 here and there and then lost $600 over that time. Each time I tried this strategy but I was never good at it. Nerves and forgetting to press my bets I'd usually wind up losing. Well today I took $200 to the table at El Cortez after watching these videos about 5 times in a row. It was the minimum table I could find at a $10 limit. I went through 2 rollers using this strategy but I added 3-2-1 odds strategy on the pass line in your other videos and walked away about 40 min later with a $1,780 bank roll!!! Holy cow that was AWESOME! I'm sure it won't happen again but at least I've made all the money I lost while here and still walked away with $1,100 in profits just from 40 min. You guys are awesome and made my second to last night in town a success!

I wouldn't say I invented this strategy but I certainly taught myself this method instead playing 54 across on a 10 dollar table I would hope the point was a non field number like 8 so I could minimize the risk with 10 on the 5 and 12 on the 6 and 10 in the field. I'm glad you're showing this to others.

Awesome clip, Color Up! I thoroughly enjoy all of your strategies and helpful insight in the game of craps. I have never gotten into Craps until this year for a buddy's bachelor in Vegas. My brother and I both had hot hands at the table at the LINQ and made several $100s by simply placing the 6/8 and playing the pass line with full odds. Now that I see these other ways to pay I can't wait to try them out first hand back here in New England. Hopefully you make it out here sometime and get to check out the new Encore casino in Boston! Other options are Twin River, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun. Keep the good time rollin' brother!

Just utilized the place 6/8 ($12 each) strategy without a pass line bet the other night with a HOT shooter at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI. I had bought in for $200 right before the come out roll for this shooter on the end. I used the 6/8 hits to eventually cover all of the place numbers and began pressing and collecting. I eventually had the 10 bought for $25, had 5/9 at $20 each and 6/8 at $24 each. The shooter honestly had to be rolling for about 25-30 minutes before hitting a 7! I colored up after that one shooter and had dinner walking away with $580 in just 30 minutes...! What a nice feeling it was and you better believe I ordered a nice steak that night.

Hi. I like your the strategy. I tweaked it to increase the probability to win. My tweak is: Once you establish your numbers then press starting with the highest probability numbers to hit. Example. If the 10 hits press the 8. If the 9 hits next press the 6. And so on... The strategy advocates starting by covering 6 and 8 so to be consistent once you establish all the numbers you should be pressing the the numbers with the most probability to win. I call this strategy the JBplus or JB+ for short.

I like the part about how the dealer starts to address some of the superstition surrounding the craps table. I don’t know how many people actually believe in these things... but I feel like the superstitions are more of a way to make the game feel more mysterious and makes players feel more like they are part of a community when they know all the secrets. Like being in a fraternity/sorority with some random people around a table I just met. With that said; it does make the game even more intimidating to new players for a game that is all ready intimidating enough all ready! I know so many people that play blackjack or slots that look at all the betting occurring on a craps table and immediately say “that is way too over complicated” 😞. Which is too bad. It really is an easy game to keep track of if you ignore the center bets to start with. That said; here are some more unwritten superstitions that the dealer didn’t cover but it’s important to know as a new player; because these are things nobody tells you until after you do them and everybody is all ready mad 😡 1. Don’t cool down a hot arm. If somebody is hitting and on a roll; now is not the time to start betting a bunch of stupid shit that slows down the dice going out. You want to hop the 5 for some reason? Okay that’s great? Scream out “Hop the 5” to the dealer and get that money out there early. Don’t wait around until you have his/her undivided attention and then has to make a special call to the stick to place your bet up and hold the stick up. Or you can do what I do when you know you have good dealers: wait until the dice going out and call for the bet. The response you will get is “bets good” or “that’s a bet” without the money being placed properly on the table before the shot. Which is fine. Stickman can set it up while the dealers are dealing with the upcoming roll; but is still good on the current shot. And don’t ever ever ever make the shooter wait when the dice are in their hand because you have your hands all down in the shooters area. If they have been shooting with a rhythm; don’t break that rhythm. Or you will get blamed when that 7-out comes. Which leads to 2. Get your hands up when dice are out. If you are on the opposite side of the table of the shooter; get your damn hands up and out of the field of play when you hear stick yell “DICE OUT”. Not only for the reason that you might distract the shooter or break their rhythm if they have to wait for you... but to avoid the worst possible scenario: You directly alter the roll. If the dice come flying across the table and hit your hands because you have them placing chips, or pointing at something, or resting your forearms on the rack, whatever reason your hands have directly altered the roll of the dice; superstitious people will automatically assume that is a 7-out. And the times they are right they will scowl at you for it. So get your bets in a timely manner. Again; if you are slow to the draw or you forgot something; whatever it is... don’t put the bet out there with your hands if dice are out. Throw the chips out and yell to the dealer your intent. They will remember your bet and make it right after the dice have been rolled. 3. Don’t alter your own shot. If you are shooting; you want to have a rhythm as well. Don’t let the dice die by limp wristing a shot that barely makes it down the table. And don’t hit the money down there either causing the dice to ricochet and fly all over the place. Don’t overhand throw the dice so they end up underneath the roulette wheel. Calm and deliberate shots. It will make you look like a pro. 4. Don’t ever say the number 7 after the point is established. The dealer in this video touched on this talking about “letting the demons out”; but that is such a big one I wanted to reiterate it here. Don’t ever say the word seven at a craps table when the point is established. Even if you aren’t even talking about the dice. If somebody asks you what time is the movie you are going to see: the answer is right between 6pm and 8pm. Also you probably don’t want to say eleven either because it sounds really close. That’s the reason when people bet Eleven they don’t say Eleven. They say Yo! or E (as in C+E means Craps 2,3,12 + 11) 5. Get hype. There is no game in a casino that fosters a greater feeling of camaraderie of players vs casino than craps. Imagine it being like blackjack; except another player gets to deal your cards to you. It’s not only okay to get excited; it is fully encouraged. When the shooter hits the point? Shout out “nice shot!” “Nice arm” “my man” whatever you feel the need to shout out as encouragement. High-five the people next to you. This one is probably the biggest superstition of all. That a table having a good time and cheering is one that is going to be hitting. That the casino loves the attention their game is getting as people stop to see what the cheering is all about and how excited everybody is and therefore is going to pay out to promote more action. So don’t hold back and let it loose!

I often like to read comments before I watch the video and I get a kick out of them. I didn't write this to specifically bust your chops Bernie, so please don't take it that way. I just saw a window that I thought I could share some opinions! Some of us seasoned players (like yourself and Color Up) go around offering advice to others who may not be so experienced, I am certainly no exception. Craps is probably the most superstitious game ever created. I am coming to the realization that to win at this game you must bet 'right' with sound money management principles and never go into this game with a short bankroll. Somehow(as a right betting strategy specifically) you must learn to parlay your wins and get out as soon as you can! Simple is better in MOST strategies I believe; that is: don't have too much exposure to too many numbers at once for then you end up losing too many bets when that 7 bangs out! ///*** Don't betting is fine but not hyped up to what some may think since a few repeats of numbers with odds like don't pass w/ odds or don't comes w/ odds will remove all your profits in short order.(btw: I've been playing craps on and off since 1983. IF you're going to bet Don't pass exclusively over the course of several hours you will eventually get destroyed, why? Because often times a shooter makes the point then throws a 7(much more likely only cause he made his point and it would seem the 'PROPENSITY* of THAT 7 SHOWING is now quite more likely) or an 11) on the subsequent come out roll to keep the game and his hand going! You must use Don't Come in conjunction with Don't Pass to take advantage of that(otherwise Don't Come all by itself)--->...get up on 2 numbers against and sit tight replace 1 loser and STOP, wait for the next shooter if you lose 1 of them! I know this is lengthy and I'm starting to go around in circles. Always have sufficient capital to withstand some losses no matter how you go about this game. The way this game is designed it is to GRIND a bettor FROM THE ONSET, NO MATTER how they wager! I truly believe you can parlay PASS LINE WINS perhaps 6 times( or more, no odds) and make out ok over the course of several hours, it always seems to happen, some schmuck gets the dice and throws 7 passes in a row. Now at 10 bucks to start, how much is that if you parlay it everytime? A BUNCH! That's all I have for now THANKS for listening!

dontswin Not sure why I would take anything you wrote as “busting my chops” 🤷🏼‍♀️ The majority of what you are talking about here is betting strategy specifically; which is something I deliberately avoided talking about. I don’t advocate for particular strategies because everybody has a different bankroll and a different level of what kind of exposure they are comfortable with. You can discuss the mathematical probabilities of things at a craps table; but ultimately they are just odds in the long run and anything can (and likely will) happen given a small sample size at any given time. What’s important for new players to understand is that you should always feel comfortable at a craps table. Don’t use a strategy that over-extends what you are comfortable having in play at any given time; or you are worried about potentially losing. As far as pass/don’t pass/come/don’t come wagering; I will normally always bet with the shooter. Most shooters are on the light side. Some shooters like to go dark; and I oblige and ride dark with them (without place bets of course). I never have a problem with darkside shooters with a single exception: If you are the only one in the dark; don’t be a complete ass and cheer and holler when everybody else at the table just lost their money on a 7 out. Which has more to do with having respect and compassion for other people than it does strategy.

I know that this comment is 3 years old, but I absolutely love your point 3. I was shooting some dice at home practicing strategies, and I was on a hot streak of maybe 15 or so. I picked up the dice and threw them and as soon as I let them go I felt that the way I flicked my wrist was different and before the dice even hit the wall, I knew it was going to be a 7. Lo and behold, I 7-out right then and there.

John adds energy to the game, like a good dealer should. Maximizing the pass line bet with insurance is one way to go that is contrary to maximizing the odds bet. Too bad your dice were cold.

More risk on the PSO but i prefer $15 field, $30 on 6/8, build to $15 on 5/9 (if field or 6/8 hits) 2nd roll (if hit) pull 6 or 8 down to $18, repeat on 3rd roll (if hit)....this method only takes potentially 3 rolls to essentially break even & then you have a lot of action on the table. A 6-10 roll shooter will make you bank with collect/press after breaking even. Your method is great, low risk, and fun.. however, it takes 4-5 rolls after come out to break even, and you have lower action on the table.
@renshawjoshua
@renshawjoshua 5 жыл бұрын
All betting strategies involving betting numbers and/or field is an exchange between risk and upside. You can just start right out 64 across. You have more risk; but your press is also going to grow exponentially faster when you are hitting. Conversely I have seen people that will only bet 6/8 and have to hit it twice before they will buy 5 or 9. Then hit twice more to buy the other or expand to 4/10 or press 6/8 1 unit. If the table is cold? They are saving a large sum of money compared to the 64 across bettor.... but if they table is hitting the 64 bettor is off to the races and stacking up piles of chips while the “safe” guy has barely gotten started. The key is always to bet within what is comfortable for your bankroll. Avoid “sucker bets” unless you are superstitious and/or want to throw money away in the name of having fun. For example: I like to throw $15 3-ways on Yo on a new shooter come out. Yes; it is a horrible odds bet. And yes even when it does hit I’m only getting paid 5:1 on a 1:18 shot (because I’m tipping the house and the shooter the rest). But it’s fun so that makes it okay 😂 I like the superstitions that this John guy talked about. Betting 12 after 2 or 2 after 12 because the dice “roll over” that’s a new one I’m going to have to start doing. Just because you will have a story to tell when it hits like “how did you know to bet that?” I also like taking the hard way on just the number when it’s the point. Like point 6 = hard 6 bet. I only ever bet the right way anyway. So if shooter is trying to throw a 6? Okay. I bet they will. And since they are throwing a 6 anyway... maybe it will be a hard way because why not. Hard 6 is 11:1 chance paying 10:1 odds if you include the 7.... but since we aren’t including the 7 😂... it actually pays 10:1 on a 5:1 chance and that’s really good! (I hope people can read how this is sarcasm but is something I actually really do).

Ed Armstrong I believe a Craps player with a strategy that takes advantage of what’s being offered on the table has a better chance of winning than someone who is trying to influence the dice. Try to last as long as you can so you are on the table and in the game when that monster hand hits.

@@LEARNTOPLAYCRAPS I agree. The math dictates the house advantage, there is no getting around it. A good strategy and money management is the key imo. I was just curious if you believed favorable dice manipulation could be done. I've been playing this game for many decades and am still undecided. I understand some people in the public eye are hesitant to commit to such questions. I appreciate your responding. Thanks.

Great video, exciting Dealer. It is like an auction, you get caught up in the moment with the table lingo. I have one comment (in my opinion), while I understand the psychology of the "house's money/Free money", in reality it is not. It is *your* money (that you won) which you are re-investing to increase your profit margin, with a worst case scenario that you will break even. Which in a gambling situation, breaking even is as good as a $1 profit :-)

These videos need to be sold and distributed. You and John are the best in the business when it comes to explaining this game. QUESTION - Playing the C&E is only beneficial once you start playing larger chips on the Pass Line before the come out. Correct? Its insurance, I assume?
@ColorUp
@ColorUp 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! John likes to use the C for insurance, and many people use the C&E that way. As far as when beneficial, you are always facing a high house edge but if you want to bet on those numbers and they roll next, its beneficial :)

I think I would power press up to greens (even if you want to press 6/8 on any hit) before my first collect. Basically any 3 number hits pays for the hand, and at that point it looks like a good roll.

Same. Depends on my bankroll I guess since that is a bit more aggressive and vulnerable to a quick 7 out, but yea, I feel like by the time you get all the numbers set and collect once, the 7 is on it's way a majority of the time.

I think my main complaint with this strategy is isolating bets up front. IMO the collecting/pressing loop shouldn't start until you've collected your initial investment first. Treating a bet that's hit twice like you're pressing with house's money doesn't feel great when a 7 rolls next and you're still $13 down on that shooter. I think a nice variation of this is, per shooter track your initial investment, that's the up front 21-22 you throw down first + any lost fields. Then once you get all your numbers covered, still keep track of what's been hit, but don't press anything until you've recouped your initial investment (besides the pass line, if you'd still like to progress how John suggests)

That was my thought, leaving the $100 out there when you make it all house money didn't make sense to me. Dealer kept saying "your playing with house money" when he wasn't, his was still out there and then it was gone. If it was all house money, he wouldn't have lost his ass.

ideal play is boring. Place bets can be good but hedging and pushing bets are the illusion of safety. If you're taking the pass, always take the odds but don't act like it's going to save other bets with strong house advantage.

Keep watching. I explain about odds often. It’s a great additional bet. It doesn’t increase your chances of winning, just increases volatility. Great of winning, but bad if losing. Long term math says it’s a break even bet and doesn’t help or hurt over long term. But it’s certainly the best bet you can make in the casino if you have the extra money for it.
