Hi Peta I just love your tutorials. I have learned so much from you. On the really long tendril, I couldn't find a really dark purple in my collection as I don't have the same pencils that you do, so I used black and it turned out very nice. The severely dark worked well against the lighter purple. Thanks again for putting these tutorials on here. I could color with you all day if my husband and my schedule would allow. ;-) Blessings.

For those without the Derwent Artist pencils, I substituted: -Middle Purple Pink(FC) for Magenta - Manganese Violet(FC) for Imperial Purple I didn't have FC Lt Violet so I made the following substitutions: -Greyed Lavender (Prismacolor) for Lt Violet(FC) -Lilac (Prismacolor) for Lt Violet (Derwent) -Purple Violet (FC) for Blue Violet Lake (Derwent)

I am always inclined to use my Bics mark it's fine point when I see anything with fine line like that but there is no way in h....you can get the details you are getting with pencils. Amazing as always, thanks so much for sharing.

Hello Peta, love how detailed your videos are. I imagine you have helped thousands of want to be colourists including myself. May I ask if you use a desk lamp and if so what kind. Everyone in the US seem to like the OTT light. Being a fellow aussie i wondered what you used. TIA. xxx

I've been looking for one too! I'm surprised someone hasn't done it yet, a quick Google search didn't give me much!

Peta have you used the Prismacolor "verithin" pencils? They are harder, can hold a very sharp point an of course are ideal for vey tight spaces such as these. I think they blend pretty well, biggest drawback might be the limited number of colors. 36 I think.

Hi Peta, when colouring the tendrils you use pc light violet but I have the full set and don't have a light violet I have even looked on there full colour chart and can't find a light violet, what is the number of that pencil please. They have a light red violet or a violet but that it. Thanks Jo

I am having the same problem Jo.

+Ann Wooten I ended up using the lilac out of my prisma collection but I still really want to know what no the light violet is and why isn't it in my set or even on the colour chart? Only thing I can think is it must be a new colour, but I've only had my polychromos 4 months. 😕 I would like to add it to my collection as I liked the colour a lot.
@lesleymcleod82308 жыл бұрын
think the light violet was a Derwent Artist pencil.
@anikdot8 жыл бұрын
Peta was definitely coloring with a PC so I did some research - my 120 set also does not contain Light Violet. However, you can buy #139 Light Violet as a single pencil according to 2 art shop websites I looked at. It also appears on older color charts - I'm heading out to the art shop tomorrow ( I need an excuse) to see if this mythical pencil actually exists!
@jonalex08 жыл бұрын
After looking online I can see that the pc light violet has been discontinued which is why it isn't in my full set of 120. You can still get it from some suppliers that have old stock. I managed to find one on eBay. Too late for me to use on this project but at least I will have it for next time.

For anyone who doesn't have the book but want to do the tutorial this particular jellyfish design is available as a free down load, it has the full consent of Johanne basford so is perfectly legit, I have so many books and really didn't want this one as I really want to get her new one so I typed jellyfish from lost ocean in Google and it came up, it's free and inline with copywriter so why not, I couldn't bear to miss out on one of Petas tutorials, that may seem weird to some but I know lots of her followers will understand lol

Peta, while looking for my Polychromos light ultramarine I noticed that the pencil next to it was called Smaltblau in German it is Sky Blue in English could it be the same color as the Derwent Artist Smalt Blue? Thanks for all that you do!

Hi darling, I'm about to buy new colors but I'm not sure about the brands. In my town its easier to find prismacolor and faber castel, which are actully the most comon colors (of course there are others but are not as good as those), so what would you recomend me? :) I just found your chanel because od a friend, and i loved your work :D regards from Colombia.
