Album : The colour of spring
Piste : 5
Année : 03.1986
Sortie single : 04.1986 (face A)
Better parted
I see people crying
Truth gets harder
There's no sense in lying
Help me find a way from this maze
I can't help myself
When I see tenderness before you left
That even breaking up was never meant
But only angels look before they tread
Better parted
I see people hiding
Speech gets harder
There's no sense in writing
Help me find a way from this maze
I'm living in another world to you
And I can't help myself
Did I see tenderness where you saw hell
Did I see angels in the hand I held
God only knows what kind of tale you'd tell

Walking to the railway station in late 1986 I found a snarled up cassette in the bushes so I took it home and repaired it and this was one of the tracks on it. The tape's long gone but I've got it on several devices so thank you to whoever threw the cassette away all those years ago

I know from experience. I have a few views. 1/2 those dislikes are from serial dislikers. A form of trolling. You get it on IMDB as well. Went up with cells. I wont get into details. Sometimes x country doesnt like x country. So it goes up to 20%. But the avg for a classic is 5%. 300 vs 9000 on 2M views. 3.3%. Its really good....

One of my favorite songs of all time. Best is the Montreux live from 1986. Mindblowing. I only cried once because of a musician's passing and that was Prince. And today. I remember the beautiful summer of 1984. I was 14 when "Such a Shame" was released in Germany. I wanted to get the maxi-version on vinyl which was not available in my German hometown, so I had to travel by train on this very hot summer day to the next larger city in order to get it. Those were the days where one had to put in some effort to get only one song. Mark Hollis belonged to the best songwriters and singers in history. And I will stop getting goose-bumps listening to his songs. He was truly a genius who did not give a fiddlers fok about fame and fortune which makes him so lovable to being with. Rest well, Mark. Enjoy "Living in another world"! Never to be forgotten.

I still recall the first time I ever heard this song, it damn nearly blew me off my chair! I mean it was a pop song, but infused with this soul, this spirit, this core, this depth, this meaning..... like no other pop song I'd ever heard. So intricate, complex, & poignant at the same time. Just astounding. And Christ, that VOICE! Can't put it into words. His voice epitomises ecstasy and agony at the same time, the man is incomparable.

I've grown up being a metalhead since my teens and shy away from from "pop" music, and yet I've always really liked this band and have been listening to them since the '80's.. Something magical and unique about them. Sad to hear about Mark. We have lost alot of the "greats" in recent years! (and somehow, Ozzy still keeps keeping on? certainly unexpected). Peace everyone, and keep the music alive in your heart and soul, forever !

and even greater in the late 80's. Their last two albums are truly timeless and way ahead of their time.
