I had a record shop(remember them) back in the 80s and 90s, and will never forget the week this single was released! I wasn't a fan at this stage, but was certainly aware of them. I was first struck with the artwork, which was so different from the usual band cover shot. Then i played it and was instantly floored by the repetitive piano and gorgeous guitar bursts, not to mention the tumbling cavalcade of drums! It was about a week before i deigned to play the b.side, and that was it!! One beautiful musical epiphany later, and Talk Talk were my new favourite band. We all know the rest with their glorious final two albums, and Mark's spiritual hymn to silence, and then nothing!! Inside, i knew this was the last we would hear from them, but that still didn't prepare me for Mark's passing. How could it? I'd accepted that there would be no more music, but no more Mr Hollis? Simply unspeakable, yet tragically true! So, i once more give thanks to Messrs Hollis, Harris and Webb for showing me what this thing we call music is truly capable of doing to the human soul!! Peace and Love to every Talk Talk lover out there!! ❤ ✌

My mom died this January.. she was only 57 years old. She was a type 1 diabetic since her childhood, didn't quite follow the strict health guidelines that came along with it and often went to clubs, parties, concerts, festivals, on holidays etc,. Made many many friends along the way. She may have lived longer if she had been more reserved, but that wouldn't have made her happy.. She was the biggest music fan, especially 80s music. We played this at her funeral, since this really is her theme song..

Comment pouvoir oublier… ⛩️🦋🌿🧡💛🧡
I was out of high school in 1983 where people were playing King Crimson, Ozzy / Black Sabbath, etc. Moved to city on my way to university and started to go to 2 bars around with friends: First listening to Eurythmics, The Smiths, Simple Mnds, Talk Talk, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, REM, The Fixx, U2, etc: What a blisst! And imagine listening to "It's My Life" on the radio! I started DJ'ing in these years, music was literally exploding everywhere in various genres, sound, etc. Companies weren't afraid to put money on "one hit wonder" and MTV was a new thing: It was insane! Musically, i miss those times so much. There always will be good music but now it's harder than ever to find it: With all the communication means we have, it should be the opposite. But when there's so much music produced by AI and computers coming out, you end up listening to so many lifeless stuff, flat sound, utterly compressed sound (loudness war), etc. True artists like Mark Hollis are lost / buried under all the dull and lifeless stuff coming out. Back to Hollis and Talk Talk, their 2 staple albums "Talk Talk" and "The Colour Of Spring" are unforgettable and timeless to me. His voice was special and with music, carrying a very strong ambiance and message. I didn't know Mark Hollis passed away 2019: RIP and you made your mark!
