Cool carbine, I love old school style builds. I’ve got one that Only gets old school hacks because it’s fun to mess with.

@@johnpawly1849 had the upper since 08 man. Checkout b kings uppers and Karri’s guns for some affordable commando uppers. Karri’s uses colt forging for the upper

Interesting set up you have there. I’m a retired Army Grunt (MOS 11H/11B served from 1983-2009) and I used the pouches you have here. What I wanted to point out is something the Army seemed to have abandoned a while back and that’s noise discipline. The pouch flap closure clips can be opened completely silently if needed but try that with Velcro or snaps, not so silent. When we were issued the LBV in the early 90’s the Velcro and snaps made things a pain when we needed to be very quiet. Most of us cut out the little 1/2” web strips inside the pouch that separated the magazines which allowed us to use the pouch for other things if needed, same for the hand grenade pockets on each side. As you know, we’d often carry a lot more than 210 rounds of 5.56 so using a couple pouches for more mags was needed so removing the grenade pockets allowed the pouches to be placed closer to each other which translated to more space on the pistol belt (albeit not much but every bit helps). Thanks for taking time to make a good video.

@@echohunter4199 thank you for, sir, I think I will modify with Velcro! I was listening to a podcast (something fairly new to me) and the solider reported similar or identical gear modification for noise cancellation. You have tons of experience! Would love any feedback you have!

@@non_tactical_talor8353 thanks for replying sir. We spend quite a bit of time setting up our LBE/LBV so it’s all adjusted to be as comfortable and balanced. Nothing we hate more than to have the suspension harness digging a hole in the back of your neck as you’re doing a fast road March because we failed to balanced the weight. Some of us would use gutted 550 chord to wrap around the ALICE clips to prevent them from working loose, we basically looped the chord in a figure 8 shape then tie a square knot to secure it. I suppose a picture would better explain how this looks. When the M9 came out we thought it was a cool knife but it was heavy and had limited use in the field so we left them in the arms room if possible, and the older M7 bayonet was a lot better. We always dummy chorded our canteen to the pistol belt as well. Most of us carried a multi-tool and the Leatherman Wave was our top pick, we didn’t like the one issued from supply, it was some Gerber tool that was a pain to use. I carried a small compass on my watch wrist band that I could use to get a quick but rough bearing or for emergency use. And for a wristwatch we made sure it wasn’t all digital since it can be seen for long distances if you use the light button to check time.
