Colt 11.5" Upper Receiver w/ Colt-Branded Troy Rail Adapter System.

In this video we take a look at a Colt 11.5" upper receiver assembly that I have had in my collection. I have not taken a close look at this upper and thought I would record me looking at the details of it. A summary of markings is below.

Your level of detail is precisely what I do every time I look at any Colt rifle. You have a great SBR there. My 2008 Commando upper has a Colt marked barrel, date 10/08 behind the FSB, etc. low rounds, a beauty., no bayonet lug. Great show, keep them coming, thank you.

You remind me of another fine fellow that went by the name of MrColt45ACP. He was a very polite, very knowledgeable guy going in depth about the history and models of, you guessed it, Colt production 1911s. Very soft spoken, very pleasant to listen to, he unfortunately stopped making videos years ago.

This is my favaorite size off rifle. The 11.5" barrel just has that feel to it. Compact yet not overbearing for muzzle blast.

They work well and with a Colt Commando marked receiver even better - Franklin Armory binary trigger will work in a colt lower ! Your good go and maybe a suppressor ! Anyhow fun times ahead !

The quadrail and F marked front sight is the proper setup. The mlok and keymod fad rails don't cut it. Perfect.

I have a Colt 9mm 10.5 upper and the barrel is marked under the gas tube as well. I also have a 6720R Talo with a different Colt branded Troy handguard.

Was there ever a crazy short handled M7 or M9 type bayonet that would fit the 11.5?

I have a cage code charging handle I got from specialized armament in 2019. I recall reading on the SA website that the military used them, but I've never seen one on a military M4 or M4A1. They don't appear to be available anymore. Is there any info on them worth mentioning?

@85November I don't know any significant information on the CAGE code charging handles. I served in the Army for 32 years. I retired in 2020 using the M4A1 Carbine. Never saw a CAGE code charging handle until the last few years. I'm sure they have been out there.

I just found a colt ar15 A3 tactical carbine... heavy barrel 1/9 twist....i has a troy rail also but sadly not colt marked...it is a trade in ..so i traded in my cr6920 as a down payment 500$ left to go

@ryanblackgoat4741 Although the AR15A3 has it's own unique rollmark, I probably would have kept the CR6920. If you traded in a carbine and had to add additional money, it sounds like they are over-charging for a used gun. Hopefully it is in great shape.

@DeltaSierra0605 great question. CAGE is an acronym used in the military logistics community and is Commercial And Government Entity code. It is an alphanumeric code that identifies a company that provides goods or services to the government. Colt's CAGE code is 13629. @@thecoltar15resource with all the parts kits that have been imported into the USA over the years there have been 100 of variants from different manufacturers (countries) and factories. They are stamped with various codes identifying location and serial numbers to matching parts. It’s definitely a VAST rabbit hole of,,,,, different variants, country of origin, factories and calibers. Growing up the AK symbolized “the bad guy” rifle in my eyes and recall very inexpensive. I bought a MAK90 around 1997 for around $180 used and fast forward to today,,,, I’ve collected over 20 different variants from Russia, Bulgaria, China, Romania, Poland and Germany. Like everything else the prices and availability have made it difficult for enthusiasts (collectors),,,,,,,,,,,
