I wish I could find a red dot for an astigmatism. I know prism optics work for that but those are larger and not really in red dot size, unless there's something I don't know about...

Have you tried the Holosun dots with the Circle-Dot reticules like the 507C? In my experience with astigmatism, for whatever reason the circle helps "corrects" the reticle so that the dot looks crisper. When it's just a dot, like a Delta Point Pro, the dot looks "smeared", but the circle dot (and I mean the reticles with the 2 MOA dot and 32 MOA Circle, not the "Vulkan" ones) look crisp to me. Same with my father who also has astigmatism.

Dots work on pistols because it’s a collimated image of a LED emitter. Eye relief and position are irrelevant. A prism optic is just a scope that uses a prism to shorten the tube length between lenses. Pistol scopes with fixed extended eye relief are basically a dead development except for hunting guns and handgun silhouette-completely static disciplines where head position, eye position, and gun weight are not real concerns.

1:00 Colt modernizing things??? Wuuuut?? That's weird. I loved watching the press release thing they did in the late 90s (early 2000s?) at Gunsite (?) where the reporter asked if the new 1911 of that year had ambi safeties, and a beveled mag well, etc? and the Colt rep said "No" The reporter lost his shit and screamed "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!" The Colt reps face turned all kinds of red. HILARIOUS. They've always been so out of touch with their customers and the market.

How is there not already red dot mounts for Colt revolvers?? I bought a mount for my S&W back in 2013. I kept my 629 V-Comp with red dot for a few years but with no way to co-witness sights on a revolver and no points of reference at all it takes a LOT of practice to be able to find that dot fast enough to be used for any kind of defense. Very few people are willing to put that much time in. It's far more difficult than with that same red dot mounted on a semi auto pistol. It's great for hunting and target shooting but it's a bad idea for defensive use. Maybe one of the dots with built-in rear sights plus a taller front sight might make it easier, I haven't tried a set up like that but I wanted throw out my experience before people drop $80 on a mount. Your mileage may vary.
