When it comes to 1911s it’s either a Colt all others are Non Colt. When I had a chance to get a 1911 in the year 2020 I went with the Colt Traditional in 45 Auto - the round the pistol was designed to shoot.

You are correct the slide and frame are forged, but the small parts are MIM..
@JoeFromTheAfternoon Жыл бұрын
The research I’ve conducted suggest otherwise. Not trying to be argumentative here, but can you provide a source? I’ve read extensively on this particular firearm, and a small parts are not MIM. One article I sourced is here: chuckhawks.com/colt_rail_gun.htm They talk extensively about the lack of MIM and forged quality throughout.
@USMC03OG Жыл бұрын
@@JoeFromTheAfternoon You would be hard pressed to find a 1911 manufacturer that doesn’t use MIM these days with the exception of Dan Wesson and the custom guys like Nighthawk, Wilson combat, Ed Brown Etc. I believe Dan Wesson is the only “production” 1911 that doesn’t use MIM, they used Ed Brown small parts in the past but I believe might be making them in house now. An easy way to tell is if there is a faint line on the back of the hammer that is an indicator that it’s MIM. I don’t believe Colt makes a single current model that doesn’t use MIM parts. That being said there is nothing wrong with MIM, it just comes down to personal preference.
@JoeFromTheAfternoon Жыл бұрын
@@USMC03OGremember this was back in 2010. I do not believe Colt used MIM in that time. I agree nothing wrong with MIM, but I give credit where it is due for firearms that don’t have them. Having said that, I’ll conduct more research and update my description if I find that I wasn’t 100% correct about that. I don’t want to be spreading false info.
@USMC03OG Жыл бұрын
@@JoeFromTheAfternoon From my research Colt has been using variations of MIM since the 1970’s. They are regarded as having very high quality MIM, but if you want a “true” no MIM gun you have to go with the brands mentioned earlier. That being said you have an awesome quality pistol that I’ll probably be personally picking up myself!

I have heard mixed things about colt and such especially their 1911s have heard that its very mixed i thibk it was due to their QC issues they had before Cz bought them out. I hope they are on the right track. Im saving up for the combat unit goverment frame in 9mm. I know im breaking the rules of not having my first 1911 in 45. I adore the 1911 im a new shooter and love 1911s appearance and has what im lookibg for, yes i do know its a really expesive pistol got a beginner and mostly for experinced shooter. I however am familiar with thw 1911 platform due to airsoft the controls and such etc i familiar with. Ik the capactiy is limited but im in a communist state not CA but NY yeah laws here suck. With that said i do want to know how colt 1911s are in this day and age is it a good beginner guide 1911 compared to springfield, kimbers, S&W, Ruger, etc these are the ones i know from the top of my head. Where does colt stand thats all i want to know about it Oh and the reason why my first 1911 is in 9mm and not 45, well 45 is so fucking expensive i do not have the budget to afford 500rds of 45. Also i get two more rounds compared to the 45 and if i get the cain arms baseplate if im in a free state i have a total of 12rds compared to 10 with the extended base plate
