If you do, get "your ears on," as they are really loud, haa. Knew a guy who would put cigarette filters in hi sear, didn't work too well though. I never had any ear protection to my slight hearing damage. Ya Hear? Ha
@shadowwolf95032 жыл бұрын
@@grassroot011 I'm 58. When I started shooting (age 5), no one used hearing or eye protection. I served on a 105 mm howitzer during the 80"s. 2 years as an ammo humper and 4 years pulling the laynard to fire it. I never wore hearing or eye protection. Im not saying it's a bad idea to wear protection, but most of us didn't. I've owned and fired almost every handgun caliber there is over the years. The only caliber that rings my ears is the 357 magnum. I'm sure I have some hearing damage from not using ear plugs. But I can still hear pretty good overall. I did see guys when I was enlisted use cigarette butts for hearing protection.

I just purchased a Cimarron PPP357N in 4.75". Nickel plated. Happens to be the Pietta one with the 4 clicks. Wouldn't go any other way now. As for the 45 and it's recoil, I've had some hand surgeries over the years and a bicep tear. It's going to be .38's and sometimes the 357 when I want to kablewy something. I always wanted a 45 colt, but went with a .357 Mag on this one. The ejection rod comes close to the cylinder wall as opposed to the 45 bore allowance. But, gingerly on the reload, I have better memory motion with it. I have had several Heritages in the small .22 bore sizes. A 7/8 scale of the SAA for post or prewar sizes. But the Colt Frontier Scout is that size and works good in my holster rig. Anyways, love the channel, love the new SAA Pistolero in nickel. Keep up the great work Hickock45!

As always you gentlemen have done a fine job with this video. My own shooting experiences have largely been spent shooting Smith and Wessons, double action Colts , Rugers, Sig Sauers, and a few others. I have denied myself the privilege of spending time with Colt Single actions and the Single action Army in particular. I believe that Colt probably has the best single action revolvers in the last couple hundred years
@Ed-ig7fj2 жыл бұрын
One added advantage to the SAA is that you can load her up with an empty chamber under the hammer, and (uncocked) it is safe to handle out at the farm at 2 a.m. Treat it with respect, obviously, but you probably won't have an accidental discharge, which would be more possible with a double action revolver. Remember, the Devil loads empty guns. --Old Guy

In 2012 my local dealer managed to find me a real Colt SAA that was made in 2007, and somehow had never been sold. The finish wasn't great, but I sent it to Colt for rebluing and I'm pretty sure they sent it to Turnbull for the case coloring. I then sent it out for a trigger job and to have custom "3:10 To Yuma-Hand of God" grips made for it. Yes I've shot it plenty. It is like a work of art though.

Hey hickock45 how about the Indian wars? The army used Colt SAA revolvers at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. There is no better caliber with the “stopping power” the “peacemaker” has. Sometimes I wonder why nobody has come up with a modern semi auto design for this round, it’s a slow bullet compared to the modern cartridges but it hits hard, it’s a true “man stopper”. As a Colt owner I love this videos. A 19th century saying: “God created men, Sam Colt made them equal”. Keep up the good work hickock45!!

@Ed-ig7fj2 жыл бұрын
These are great revolvers. Note how he loads it (see related videos of this online): hammer to 2nd click, load one chamber, skip one, load the next four chambers. Carefully finish cocking the gun and slowly let the hammer down on the (supposedly) empty chamber. Never carry a SSA with the hammer down on a live round. A smack to the hammer, or an accidental tugging on the hammer, can set it off. Educate yourself, and you will have a fine handgun for life. --Old Guy
