Ivy League grad and tech CTO here. I can assure you that it will be hard for these students to find jobs. Why? Because this is the driest the market has been in about 8 years. At the same time, absolutely none of us on my current team will care in the negative if they were involved in campus protests or not. We simply have measures of their skills and if we see their resume in our system and they have the skills they get a shot. It is simple. Other tech companies also will hire students like these and even moreso.

So your company doesn't do even basic criminal background checks on your hires? That sounds like in general a security risk that shouldn't be there especially in a technical career that may involve handling sensitive information or control said systems. This also doesn't address the workplace culture issues that these students will bring.

I'm a bit afraid that they segregated the ✡️ students out--at least the ones they know about (on-campus groups, for example). No proof of that, but I wouldn't put it past them. This may be the beginning of that sort of action, just like 😷 desensitized the public to 😷 protestors&criminals being tolerated, which of course escalatedinto this.
