What Ever Happened to the Library Degree Requirement?
The library profession continues to evolve. New skill sets are required for libraries seeking to deepen their support of the research process, and libraries are looking to disruptive information school curricula, expatriate academics, and other ‘outsiders’ to fill the gaps within the dynamically shifting research support landscape. How do communities with varied training and backgrounds co-habit the library of the future to best support the needs of an academic community? How do skills from each group conflict, overlap, and resonate? How are the developing needs of libraries driving nontraditional hiring practices?
