I read online, that after you change the head unit from MIB1 to MIB2, you need to do some coding. Can you tell what needs to be coded? A list or something. Thanks :)

There is no coding that fits all cars. The coding needs to be done according to cars equipment and options.

I can get the specs of my car using the VIN I'm guessing but where can I get a guide on how to do the coding, I'm not sure where to start with this at all

Hi. You seem to have been very helpful to other replies, so wondered if you could help. I have a Skoda Yeti with a 'Bolero' head unit which only has 'Mirrorlink' software. It is an MIB2 Standard PQ Radio plus EU/ROW (what-ever that means). I have had my local Skoda dealer try to install 'Smartlink' on my Bolero, but with no success, as apparently this unit cannot be upgraded to Smartlink. Therefore, I have suggested upgrading to a newer 'Bolero' or 'Columbus' Unit (I missed-out by about 2 weeks, as there was a change over around week 25/2015 to the newer smart link unit. Also, I may not bother connecting sat-nav due to the hassle, but probably add additional Ariel(s) for DAB), but dealer saying that they do not want to get involved in this new/newer head unit as there is no guarantee that they could get it to work properly due to the coding and security matching to the chassis? I understand it may not be an un-plug and plug-in, but if the dealer can't do it, what hope has anyone else? Any suggestions?

You need to get prepared unit for installation in any car and it will function.

@@zero696 What's even more confusing, is that when the Yeti was first supplied new, Skoda included an information brochure of their 'SmartGate' system which could be added (with a charge) at a later date, but 4 years later and this appears also not to be able to be fitted????!!!!

No, no cable adaptation is needed, except removing a piece of plastic on a connector. But the coding is needed.
