RE:DRIVER 2 - Mods: Texture Replacing

With a new update to one of JellySoaps' tools it is now possible to replace or change textures in game. Here is some done by JellySoap himself, me and NikkiChan92.

Wow I can't believe how smooth and more enjoyable the game now looks like. So much better than on PS2. Even the cops that were bugged on the bridge and inside the tunnel are fixed and now work completely properly

Nice! Unfortunately Driver 2 textures have aged extremely bad, the game needs a whole new pack of them, HUD/fonts as well. Great to see improvements on this!

some things I would like to see in this project: improvement in the drawn distance, reduction of popin in buildings, trees and shadows, several shadows are missing like those of buildings, posts, traffic lights, some trees and other objects. in some cars there are flaws in the texture mapping: the doors and sides are slightly stretched, wrong color tones, small touch up. upscale textures and cutscenes using AI.

The draw distance is already happening in this video, with further improvements to come. Building/post/tree shadows probably not coming. Today he released a texture un/repack tool, so the textures will get fixed.

I would like spawn all cars of city, because the original game only spawn 3 cars in free play of each city :/

@@lisao10 Just drive for a while. They are in groups that overlap so eventually they swap out.

@@C.I... No exactly, I remember when i pick the first car and only the 3 cars appear with police car, bus, but not the van.

@@lisao10 Go to different map areas and play longer. Different car sets will be loaded in. Swap cars frequently so you don't get stuck in the same few subsets.

If I can learn how to open the textures, I would love to make improvements to the cars. Namely, make the doors line up with the windows properly, and make a few "real car" skins like a Dodge Challenger or Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Back on those days PC games were not too much demanding. But PS1 was famous so they decided to release only on ps1.

We don’t have a tool for the game specifically other then ripping the textures from the game which will help to know what the resolution for the textures need to be as well what the texture name needs to be.
