i think including mandatory western boxing classes in the curriculum would help tremendously when it comes to applying this style of striking. start with boxing, then add what you can.

I'm glad that Filipino martial arts is not a one sided martial arts but it was so flexible like filipinos themselves. It won't boast against other arts but istead it was the same as them, it has almost have the element of all arts and can corporate with them and compliment.

So it’s basically mixed ?
@striderwalker66223 жыл бұрын
@@lobaton3187 no its still part of fma. Fma is an all around system. Hand to hand, weaponry and grappling.
@lobaton31873 жыл бұрын
@@striderwalker6622 isn't dumog and panantukan different from kali ?
@lobaton31873 жыл бұрын
@@striderwalker6622 what I meant was you basically mixed the different martial arts in fma since there's kali, sikaran, dumog, panantukan, and yaw yan
@striderwalker66223 жыл бұрын
@@lobaton3187 they are all in one branch. Dumog is fma version of wrestling/grappling, panutukan is fma dirty boxing or hand to hand. Kali is the bladed concept. What drills they do in kali is same thing they are doing with empty hands. Weapon is just the extension of the hans. If you notice the drills they do if your familiar with hubad knife drills is same as they do in panutukan.

Holy shit!! Awesome! This guys is crazy)) I'm never seen any similar practics
@justinvillar70084 жыл бұрын
If you see how the practice you've seen did, you've already seen that practice. Because Filipino martial arts almost have the elements of all arts, it's a flexible martial arts, it won't compete with other art but instead it will compliment and corporate them. Wingchun, boxing, muay thai, karate, judo and others, it almost have them in one or even it becomes one of these art if a practitioner of it join the other practiced art.

Imagine the offensive guy has a knife in hand, the one being attacked would have at least 3 fatal slashes in single flow
@quickstep24084 жыл бұрын
you're most likely going to get cut in a knife altercation if you choose to engage. there's no self-defense system against knives in the world that could reassure me of its absolute effectiveness. just hope that you don't receive any fatal injuries and are close to a hospital when the attack occurs.

What styles are these? Some of the moves I have seen in Silat.
@quickstep24084 жыл бұрын
it's filipino martial arts. the philippines and maylasia/indonesia (where silat originated from) are both south east asian countries. because of that, these countries have shared their culture with one another for thousands of years, some of it being their martial arts as well. therefore, their martial arts have shared 'roots' to their styles. so, usually when ppl refer to the south east asian martials (for self defense, not sport like muay thai) they are usually referring to silat or filipino martial arts (arnis, escrima, kali...). good eye though for noticing that.
