For anyone looking to build a combat robot, I've compiled a list of resources that should get you started and help you learn what you need to know. The guide will be continually updated and will point you in the right place for asking questions, finding parts, and designing your very own combat robot.
Here is a link to the Combat Robot Resource Guide: docs.google.co...

I love these big knowledge compilation projects because sometimes the most important question is the question that I haven’t thought to ask yet.

@@andrewbot Right? Every video I get 1-2 downvotes within the first few hours. For almost every video, there's a single downvote in the first hour of uploading. I pissed someone off at some time and they're holding a grudge.

where is a good place to by beetle weight belt pulleys? I have looked around briefly but have not found anything I'm happy with, i need something with less than 1.5 inch outside diameter and a 3/8 shaft. Also it has to be flanged.

this is a great channel, and I have been trying to make an antweight battlebot, it's the body that's difficult for me, and also the drive motors, this is helpful so thank you so much. Someday I will enter in the CIRC bot brawl for antweight battlebots, again thanks, and will I need separate speed controllers for the drive motors? just wondering, thanks.
@RobertCowanDIY
@RobertCowanDIY 5 жыл бұрын
Every motor needs a way to drive it. So, yes, you will need a speed controller for every motor you use.

Its too bad theres not some sort of fun competition that just going through like a racetrack hitting things and blowing shit up, so your robot doesnt get destroyed... I would like to build something for fun but not really to fight against other people... is there any other PVE players out there?

Can a 2 axis gyro module be added to a 2 wheel horizontal spinner Bot to quickly stabilize(auto track) driving in a straight line toward opponent? Would the electronic gyro module help to overcome tracking issues when spinner is operating?

Instead of asking what motor to use, figure out what load you will be driving and how much power it needs and just pick the appropriate motor that will drive the load.

Need some advice. I'm going to flash a Emax Blheli 30A brushless ESC to brushed. I've seen your video where you flashed HK F series with SimonK firmware. However,unlike HK ESC,emax esc uses 3 pin instead of 6. And the one I'm going to flash is silabs processor. There's not much info online on brushless to brushed conversion in these ESC,so I'm gonna have to try to find out if it works. But is there any big flaw which already decides that it won't work.?? @Robert Cowan or anyone.??

While not combat specific, I would recommend adding some content useful for learning CAD as that is definitely one of the fundamentals which is very helpful for building robots. Lars Christensen has an awesome set of Fusion tutorials (he works for Autodesk) and has a massive catalog of tutorials. I'm sure there are equivalents for Solidworks as well. kzbin.info
@RobertCowanDIY
@RobertCowanDIY 5 жыл бұрын
This is good information, but there's no barrier to searching youtube for fusion360 or solidworks tutorials. Having a guide doesn't really offer anything specific for that knowledge. Like I said part-way through, ask aaron is great, but you only realize it's there when someone tells you about it. searching for 'free CAD software' gives you tons of options and then you can of course google how to use it. I'm leaving out a lot of 'general' information. If I put in stuff like that, it might be good to include 3d printer resources, CNC resources, etc. There's a lot of auxiliary knowledge that just goes along with building. But, noted.
