HM Raiding Rogue here. I play all specs and enjoy them all but overall my fav. would be Sub. with combat as a close second. Very good guide here mate. Well planned out, and you def. know your stuff. The only small thing I found off was the explanation of incorporating Rupture into the rotation ONLY if you have a Sub Rogue, Arms War, or Feral Druid for the added bleed damage. If you don't have any of these classes in your group, forget using Rupture. Cheers!

If you check it out closer, 8.00 hit rating only makes your special attacks a 100% guarantee; the 17.00 spell cap for poisons also helps you reach the cap for basic melee strikes, which is most often (with S&D always up) a combat rogues highest dps dealer...

You should use a fast weapon in your off hand (1.40). If you any stage of the legendary daggers go ahead and use that for your off hand w/ DW axe in your MH. The offhand dagger is BIS for all stages, unless you have the Heroic Mode dagger from Hagara, which will beat out Vengeance.

Haste is only bad to stack when you can’t spend what it generates. I would recommend reaching a point where you're comfortable w/ the amount of haste you have and then start aiming for the non-mandatory 17% spell hit cap.

@Djgtk88 If you have at least 500 LW you can emboss 130 agility to your bracers which is greater than the standard 50 agility to bracers enchant

Jevagen is right on this. Openers have not benefit to Combat Rogues besides being able to get a few feet closer to the boss before the pull. If you are going to start a fight in stealth your best bet for dps it to put SS right on your stealth bar and open with that. He is also right on backstab, the energy regeneration for backstabbing a target below 35% is an assassination talent in the fifth teir.

Fear and all of it's stages is the only non slow MH you may use. The daggers are fine, but next stage will be a lot better. I got 17% spell hit cap, then reforged all mastery into haste and a little bit of crit into haste. Use SnD after 2-3 combo points, don't use rupture so you're good on that, go to four combo points then revealing strike, then eviscerate. Blade fury on 2 adds or more.

I simulated Ultraxion 25m... 10k Iterations, world lag set to low, length set to 300 sec, player skill set to elite, etc. BiS H Combat rogue pulled 51.7k dps and BiS H Assassination rogue pulled 47.7k dps. Keep in mind that the spec you choose should depend on the encounter. For the most part combat is the way to go but even subtlety becomes the best spec for a few encounters. A little research and practice goes a long way :)

You just said that it is necesary for a rogue to get a melee hit cap of 8%, but when I'm looking at your statics I see there is a 14.85% of Hit chance at melee. @jaunchop881 I simply followed the priority list... I went for agility until I could no longer gain any more, then I went for the melee hit cap of 8%, then I became Expertise capped (26), afterwards I went for haste wherever I could get it and finally I still had some room left for hit rating which I went for once the stats before were covered. This is why i have so much hit, I was aiming for the 17% Spell Hit Cap even if I can't reach it with my current gear... I hope this helps or makes sense

Combat Rogues do not use stealth yet alone stealth openers period. However when i stealth on my rogue in a raid the point is to be within range to attack the boss once our tank pulls. From stealth i use TotT and then open with a sinister strike straight from stealth.

So, i have a combat rogue (of course lol) and i recently started taking him into reg ds runs. He has decent gear mostly HoT 5 man and lfr gear and the fear/vengance dagger set. but he isnt pulling all that great dps. Could it be that im using daggers or that i dont use rupture at all or what?

The epic gem is called "Glinting Shadow Spinel" and the non epic gem is called "Glinting Demonseye"... These gems should give you agi and hit. Hit rating counts for both melee hit and spell hit.

i saw you using and axe plus rogue legend dagger....dude duel wield the daggers even at combat cause the mh dagger makes up for missing a 1h non dagger by giving sinister and revealing strikes dmg by 45%

i think you're wrong .. assassination is only a three button rotation. mutilate into a slice n dice into mutilate, mutilate .. then envenom. that's a 3 button rotation, my man.
