Great review, thanks! There are several expansion concepts underway but I defer to Ross to expand on them as he sees fit. The only one I'll mention is the one I'm designing tentatively titled "Combat! All American" which covers the combat history of the US 82nd Airborne Division in WWII from the invasion of Sicily in 1943 through the Division's occupation of Berlin in 1945. In addition to standard game scenarios, it will have a campaign in which players create the characters of a parachute or glider infantry squad and fight them through the 82nd's campaigns in Sicily, Italy, Normandy, Holland, the Bulge, and the final defeat of Germany. It will introduce US airborne and Italian Army character counters, new weapons/AFVs, terrain, and geomorphic map sections that can be configured into a large variety of new terrain to fight over.

Excellent! Hoping for some East Front and of course Pacific as well. Modern would be another dream, sometime down the line. :)

Combat has been a very tempting purchase. Now w Vol 2 being released it’s not going away. I like your factual unboxing vids. Just subscribed. Good channel content. Big thanks.

Thanks Moe. I have this on the shelf and other games ahead of it, but the price was right, it is not a cheap retail game, so I picked it up 2nd hand. Just wrapped up a number of Tarawa 1943 plays. Look forward to your coverage and I’ll watch what Gimpy did with it.

Yea, it's not inexpensive but there is a lot of content in the game which I think warrants it. Tarawa 1943 eh? I've been seeing lots of people playing it, what have you thought of it? I wasn't sure how interesting the game would be when I saw it on Kickstarter, so I passed on it. Is it worth it?

@@MoesWargames I really really enjoyed Tarawa 1943. It is tough and really conveys the challenge the Marines faced. It is simplistic in tears of components and rules, but I like that about it. It has that good balance between complexity and play.

@@MoesWargames I finally got a USMC victory after about 10 plays. I couldn’t put it down and stop playing. I’ve been watching documentaries on the Gilbert islands and why it was so crucial for the island hoping. The game has excellent cards with historical notes, so compelling. Low table space and about 1 hour playtime once you know the rules etc. I could see some people turned off because they want a deeper simulation. i think it has a great theatre of the mind going on. I can picture wading in because the Higgins boat grounded, pinned down on the shore, pushing forward and hopping for reinforcements. The marines are recuperating and Banzai! Or infiltration, you feel it. Great game all conveyed with simple blocks, fantastic cards, and dice chucking.

Will other nationalities as player options (British, German, etc), be introduced to the game system?

I know there are plans on working on different theaters, unsure if the design team will pursue other nationalities in the future.

This game seems like it’s up my alley, but I just have a hard time with the price. An upcoming second printing can be ordered for $119 plus shipping, but some people ask crazy money for a used copy. But when I look at the contents I’m just trying to figure out how this game costs this much. It seems like it should be about $50 less than it’s actual MSRP. You don’t even get mounted maps so it’s just some counters, rule book, misc player aids and some fold out paper maps. I can’t help but think if this was a GMT or DVG product it would be priced around $70.

There is actually a lot of game in that box, and when you add in Volume 2, you have a system with years of replayability. Not at all a stretch to say that. As for the price, Compass prints in the US, same as MMP does which is why the prices are higher than other publishers who print in China. China printing is always going to be cheaper, US price is not. I'd not give up on it though, since the Compass holiday sale is fast approaching and they mark games down up to 40% off. That's when you can snatch up the greatest deals! Hope that helps!
