Good wok guys! I have 2 questions. 1. Do you need to have the new seats certified in order to make them legal? 2. Do you need to let dvla know and update the v5c to reflect the correct no of seats in the vehicle?

Great install! This type bed could possibly be an answer for Class B conversion vans like the Promaster when a lot of storage isn’t needed under the bed. Hmmm, giving me thoughts! I just wonder how comfortable this bed is versus the four inch memory foam mattresses. Great video! Stay safe! Waving from the USA!

When cutting the cover away with a knife could you not leave it hanging like a tab.. then do what you did but before you bolt up the brace . Slide the tap that you cut under and drill holes in that. Finally seal up the cuts you made with a knife ?? I have a t5 I'm looking at doing this in mine

I'm doing this job with a RIB 130 slider on a LWB T6 4Motion right now. Great video, and I think I'm happy about the rear attachments - but what about the front? You seem to have fitted them, but don't mention it. Have you done it on a 4Motion, and if so are there any issues? I've heard a rumour about having to drop the rear diff!!! Also, this morning I spoke to one of the companies making furniture, and they say their furniture works best if the RIB is mounted in a forward position, so that you slide the bed back into for the sleeping position. While I can see some advantages (like more boot space), surely this position isn't compatible with securing to the chassis cross member. Have you attached a RIB in this forward position? Any help appreciated - this is something that would be good to get right first time!
@eddysmiley35646 ай бұрын
@cliffordDive - did you ever get an answer to this? I also want to mount the RIB further forward so it's secured in-front of the cross-member rather than aligned with it - not sure if that makes it unsafe!
@CliffordDive6 ай бұрын
@@eddysmiley3564 - it's a while ago now. I did a lot of KZbin research and the consensus seemed to be that the rear fixing was the more critical one - that's where the forces from the belts go. I've located my sliding RIB so that it's slid as far back as it will go when in sleeping mode. This gives maximum space in the boot and put the extra box section reinforcement under the floor in the right place to attach to the chassis. I then chose "sensible" locations for the front fixings, picked for accessibility and lack of interference with critical parts of the van, and after careful measurement drilled down through the RIB frame. Does all of that make sense?

Great video love the seat Was wondering if you know of any other seats the same as this that will fit further up the van like where the sliding door is or a rear row of seats in a kombi would normally be?

Have a look at Rusty Lee Beds, he has a multitude of fitments and is making one for a customer of mine that fits in the middle if a van
@willsgetoff11575 жыл бұрын
Just wondering, having cut out the plastic tub underneath, did you glue the cut piece back, and if not does it affect the rust protection under the van?
@CombeValleyCampers5 жыл бұрын
Hi! The area we cut the plastic is directly above the spare wheel meaning most of it is covered anyway. Also vw are pretty good at undersealing the chassis now

Good morning! Have you guys any advice on whether it's possible to fit a RIB bed to a lowered floor vehicle? I have a van which was previously a mobility vehicle. The floor has been lowered to allow a ramp so I'm not sure how I'd go around fitting this to the underside of the van... Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
@CombeValleyCampers2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It is not something we have dealt with before, however, for the bed to work in its intended purpose (in terms of seatbelt strength etc, I would suggest to reinstate the original floor. Leigh

@@CombeValleyCampers HI yes but did you cut out plywood so runners sit on the metal of the floor or are they sitting 9n the plywood ? Thanks Paul
@paulconaghan94325 жыл бұрын
Hi did you get my comment ? I want to install a seat in my van and was advised to cut through the plywood and put chair base directly onto metal floor . Seems a bit of a pain though, is that how you did it ? Can't see it on the vid . Thanks in advance keep up the good work! 👍
@CombeValleyCampers5 жыл бұрын
Hi@@paulconaghan9432. The sliding element of the seat is on the frame itself, not the floor. However, when we have installed seats with floor rails, we have removed the floor completely, fitted the seat rails, then re-fitted the seat around the rails. hope that helps, Leigh

Would you fit the rock and roll bed before you lay the floor? (lino/contra etc)
@CombeValleyCampers4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes we generally lay the ply floor, then 'dry fit' the bed and interior ro save damaging the new floor covering. Then when we are happy the covering goes down and everything mounts on top of that.
