I believe the Baxi Platinum/ duo tec boiler was first launched in 2006 Allen.What improvements have Baxi had to make to these boilers over the years to rectify any initial teething problems or parts faults to maintain reliability ?

Minimal changes over the years that i can remember, The thermistor washer was changed, Diverter had a bit of an update, New pump. Not sure what else

Hi Allen is it worth getting the platinum/duo tec or the Main eco compact 30kw. I have 5 bedroom 2 baths. Need good water flow rate ideally for a decent shower and bath. Any advice will be great. Thanks.

Hi I have a Baxi combi boiler got a intermittent fault works OK then after a while it locks out a flashing light and 128 appears have tried resetting .Had to wait a few hours until the room temperature reached 15 degrees then it resets any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Allen, you just saved me from getting the platinum istalled. I think i will wait for the new model now. I had a quote for £2k fully fitted for the 33kw. And £3k quote for the Worcester bosch green star 8000 35kw(looks like a big iphone).

Ive made appointments with two diffrent baxi approved installers from the baxi website in the past but both have failed to turn up. Not even a call from them to say cant make it. Baxi boilers are good but not too sure about the customer service?.swinging more towards the WorcesterB as customers service was excellent.

Baxi Platinum has proven to be a great boiler over the years in my opinion. I like the Viessmann 100 now it's changed to copper pipes.

One more thing Allen you better get a gas safe storage label stating don't use as a storage cupboard... I had a gas inspection last week and I've got to go back a stick a label on the boiler..

Look at an Intergas Rapid. Only _four_ moving parts. Built like tanks. The Baxi is not in the same league. Another superb boiler is the Navien - the largest combi makers in the world. The boiler can even be fitted outside, with a superb DHW flowrate. A small physical size as well. Also can use cheap plastic drain pipe for the flue going some decent lengths as well. Many times an outside fitting of a boiler would have been a fantastic solution, but none were available. Vokera did import an outside fitted boiler only to special order. In Italy they have them on the balconies - called balcony models. Outside but must be protected from the rain. The Navien has the same flue as an Ideal (same company supplies the flue to both) and also the same brass hydroblock as a Baxi, again the same company supplies both. I have no connection with Navien.

The worst boilers _generally_ I have come across are British: Ideal & Baxi. The best are Dutch. That is not saying the Baxi Platinum is not a good boiler.

@@AllenHart999 I am not having a laugh at all. Keep assessing new products on the market and what they offer in function and features. You have moved on as you use copper and plastic pressfit pipe and fittings. So keeping looking, do not stagnate.

Allen Hart from an electrician point of view I much prefer the Nest I just find much better to install, to program and looks better and all the people seen too love it never no come backs after showing the householders how to operate.
