Back in the 70s an 80s we used to run the header up a couple of feet so the ear never got yanked so for just a thought

We used to run it like that back home, over here some of these ear are very low so by running auto height it's safer for when you hit a waterfurrow and might slam the header in the ground

@@mississippifarmer4301most guys are running chopping heads with some kind of devastater system too get the stalks as short and flat as possible too save wear and tare on the tires and tracks so they run them lower

crop looks good...seems with all the technology, there could be a way to reduce header loss...maybe a curved header to allow corn to drop into header instead of being forced into header, hitting around, shooting corn out of header onto ground...unless air applicated...sprayer will knock off pods...5 days...I'd forego spraying...imho

I see guys adding kernel savers from May West i don’t know if anyone else makes them or a different type but basically they are a polymer set of strips that run lengthwise on each side of the head in each row so the cobs are cushioned instead of slammed hard onto the steel head and then for any kernels that do pop off they put little brushes on the ears of the gathering chains and they help pull them up into the auger
