Thank you so much Kerri. Yes, that burnt orange glow with the warm sunlight is a neat trick and works with this type of scene. Try adding a drop to a future painting and see how it looks. Hope you have a week full of bright spots and I'll do my best to dish up on this Sunday too 😃😍😎

Hello, Paul! What a delightful mash-up of classics that inspired your lastest! I really enjoyed watching your application of paint to create the falls and the sun peeking out the side of the fir in the distance. A title… 🤔… Golden Hour on the Falls. 🙃🤷🏻♀️💖 Love to all.

Hi Paul! So very beautiful, this collection of three Bob Ross classics! I love the colors so much, I can’t decide which name for it that I thought of that is my favorite.. Amethyst Falls? Enchanted Twilight? It’s so mystical to me. I’m so glad you painted this with your own touch. I’ve always loved your sparkles in your water and little touches that make your paintings pop! I love the sun very much. How it dances behind the pine! Thank you for such a wonderful tutorial that I think I could try- as soon as my new black gesso arrives.. have a great week, art hugs to you! ✨🤗🖌️🎨😃✨

Thank you so much Stephanie. Two great titles as well. My favourite being Amethyst Falls. My other half has a huge collection of gemstones so this is very apt. Give this a try on any size canvas. I think it would work well scaled down just as well. Love the play of sunlight behind the trees. Its one of my favourite touches! A new painting idea is in the pot for later. But first a sketching trip to Petworth. Hope the weather holds off 😃😎

How funny, Paul! Mrs. Angel has been calling me Angel since we met 24 years ago! Now here’s the wonderful part. Because you have brought me much joy, and you have acknowledged her in a few posts, she’s decided to pick up a brush or three to attempt painting side by side with (you guessed it) Paul Ranson as our guide. I’ve sent your channel her way. Let’s see if she decides it’s better than baking chocolate chip cookies for the neighbors! You’ve actually transformed my somewhat difficult life into a very livable place to be. That may seem an overstatement, but to us, it’s the simple truth.
@PaulRansonArt7 ай бұрын
Oh wow another new beginner. Hi to Mrs A and lets see what she can cook up. No better way to paint than with a nice cuppa tea and a cookie. Delighted to hear your world is a little brighter with some art. Its a therapy I've enjoyed for may years. 😃😎
@robinruby31567 ай бұрын
Well, my friend, I gave this mashup painting the old school try. Typically I would have said ‘Oh, [major expletive] I’ve botched it” But that’s just not true. In the vid, you said “If you have a little feature there you want to keep, leave it in.” LOL as it turns out, the “feature” is the entire painting!! Well, one man’s botch is another man’s masterpiece!
@PaulRansonArt7 ай бұрын
🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 Oh thats just too funny Robin. It reminds me of a craft show Terri and I did years ago. We carefully selected and framed our very best work and put it on display. At the last moment I packed a box of 'also ran' paintings - basically stuff that didn't make the cut. Come the day of the show it was like a swarm of bee's around our paintings. Not the stuff we selected but the box of odds and ends. We sold them all and took our favourites home. So one mans botch realy was another mans masterpiece. Well done for starting off your box of future sellers. BTW these first paintings are probably the most important one you'll paint. They are the bench mark by which you'll measure your progress. So when you're have a bit of a day of it with a painting ( yes you'll have one or two ) Go to your box of 'not quite good enoughs' and see where you started. It puts things into perspective - Paul 😃😃😎😎@@robinruby3156

Hi Paul, what a creative idea for such a wonderful painting. Beautiful colors and a pastel touch make this oil painting really beautiful and calming. They give her an indescribable note of peace. The scenery is really lovely and it looks like a charming little place to walk around. If I heard correctly, you asked her what to call her? Why not Paul waterfall or Creative mix? THAT is unfortunately the best name ideas I have. This way of painting introduced me to Buck Pauson's video Pushing for home. Look, if you haven't, the story behind that picture is similar to this one. By the way, thank you for all the wonderful advice and for the wonderful series, I look forward to a new episode every week. As always, enjoy your week, have a nice rest of the day/night and happy painting.😁🖕

Thank you Angel - That was a very interesting video by Buck. I've been looking through my list of 'must do' paintings and a big dramatic sky scene is near the top of my list. Maybe I'll use the green instead of my light grey for the primer! I'm doing a sketching trip this afternoon so hopefully some big sky's will be on show! Have a great week too 😃😎😍

This is so beautiful! Thank you again Paul! I really can’t wait to try this one! I do have a question about sponges. Try as I might I cannot seem to fashion an ordinary sponge out of materials I’ve got on hand. Is it ok to just buy the textured sponges or are you doing something to them I need to know? That said, can you recommend a prefab sponge that I can buy? I’m thinking part of the problem with using the sponge method is my rather heavy handed approach. Plus I seem to pull the sponge rather than simply tap. Could that be the culprit? Cheers!!
@PaulRansonArt7 ай бұрын
Hi Robin I use a cheap synthetic car sponge. So nothing special. I cut it into small cubes and give one face a bit of a texturing. I simply take a pair of pliers and create a few ragged holes. That's it nothing special. Don't spend a load of money on natural sponges. They fall to bits too easily. Just start out with a little gesso to plan the painting first.Hope this helps😅

@PaulRansonArt4 ай бұрын
Hi Tori - its a combination of all three. I likes the colours of one, the subject of the other and the season of the third. Lifes never simple - Try repainting a Bob Ross classic in a different season. Switch a winter scene into a summer one. Its a fun and gets you thinking about how the worls around us changes through the year 😃😎
