Combining Collage and Urban Sketching

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
In today's video, I will combine urban sketching and collage.
Last week, I shared the process of making a collage, as a preperation of the page for a drawing. I found a good spot to draw a view in the park.
I'll show you how I tackle this challenge. The composition of the collage will be informing my drawing - some of the shapes will in the end make a lot of sense and represent parts of the view.
Trusting the process is a big part of drawing on top of collage, but above all: being playful and having fun!

-Foldable lightweight Sitting mat
-Ikea backpack
-Hahnemühle Nostalgie Sketchbook, Size A5, prepared with pieces of paper
-Pentel Pocket Brushpen
-Caran d'Ache Neocolor 1 wax crayons, white, light yellow, yellow ochre

Hi Koosje, Your book came while we were essentially closed down because of a snow storm and frigid temperatures. It came 5 days earlier than expected (I'm in Kentucky in the USA). I was so happy. Then I watched your collage episode and while intrigued, I didn't think I would do it. But after watching this episode, I'm eager to try it. I just bought a few Caran D' ache neocolor crayons recently, they're water-soluble like a watercolor pencil. They make the most intense colors with a water brush. I used the collage technique with some rough bamboo Asian Joss paper. it turned out well with brush and ink.

Great drawing. How do you keep your camera so still outside?

I use a flexible arm that holds my camera on one side and that I can clip on the bench where I sit. You can find it on Amazon
