On the years we have had to combine corn with snow on it, we have to wait until it's only 10 to 15 deg F. Then the snow does not stick to the inside combine, and build up on chaffer. It blows right through.

Yes, as my husband was watching the video, I was hearing lots of comments. He did quit combining after he filled the bins from along the bush and went back at it in better conditions. He hopes to finish today.

For clarification, my son was driving the combine and my husband was commenting on the video as we edited😊

The American farmer has set the high-water mark for their unselfish commitment to feed the world. Against the odds and against the markets. May God bless everyone of these incredible people.

Should of been in the machine shed so that wouldn't happen son...field snow didn't cause that. Overnight snow outside did 💯✌

@@scottyirish3231 Sorry, but he had already combined those 2 bins at the start. Where you saw him starting the combine he had already had it running that morning. The snow was from combining that morning. He should have quit after those 2 loads.🥴 Not sure if that is clear or not?

I guess everyone has to run in the snow once to learn what happens

Yes, there wasn't snow on it when they started and the weather hasn't been cooperating. No real freezing temperatures day or night. Sometimes the options aren't great.

The American farmer is just trying to make a loveing just like everybody else it’s not a romanticized thing just survival and a damned hard job to boot 2:38
@jonpeterson97338 ай бұрын
that's impressive, the sieves open that far, and yet the grain that clean. Gleaners get a lot of hate, but I think people tend to relate more to what they grew up with or around. I have heard that Deutz engines and combine was a bad idea. has this unit been repowered? thanks.
@HollcanaFarm8 ай бұрын
As far as we know the Deutz engines went in the N series. Our engine is an original Allis Chalmers but is a boosted L series motor.
@RJ1999x8 ай бұрын
@@HollcanaFarmShould be either the 649T if it's the small engine or a 670 T if it's the bigger engine 158hp. Sounds like the 670T 426 cu in of mean
@jonpeterson97338 ай бұрын
@@HollcanaFarm I thought the orange stripe meant an Allis engine, where the green indicated Deutz air cooled, either way it's doing a great job in tough conditions.👍
@harryhodges53268 ай бұрын
ive had duetz tractors since the 70s, in my opinion the air cooled duetz is one of the best engines ever built you just got to do air cooled maintanance ie clean the fins on cylinder,
@RJ1999x8 ай бұрын
@@jonpeterson9733 the green stripe conventional and rotary had Allis Chalmers engine until the conventional got dropped(huge mistake by the krauts) and the N changed into the R. But by that time Gleaner has lost its dominance in combines and never got it back

Why didn't you brush the snow off the corn before combining? Seems like an easy fix 😕
@HollcanaFarm8 ай бұрын
Next time we will call you up to do that for us! Good idea!

Combine in the snow will plug your Combine from front to back and what a mess you will run the corn out the back and on the ground

@@HollcanaFarm even if you combine corn with frost on the stalks will do the same thing
@HollcanaFarm7 ай бұрын
@@paulking5783 yes, when he started that day it wasn't snowing and he got the 2 bins you see at the start of the video. They stopped for a bit and when they started later it started lightly snowing. It didn't take much to cause trouble so he had to quit and finish another time. He probably should have quit earlier. When you want to get done and have help for that day it's hard to stop.
