A simple templet for those of you that roll BJJ and want to incorporate a strength and conditioning program. I AM NOT an expert at BJJ, however I do have an extensive background in CrossFit/Strength and conditioning.

Oss, brother. Same here - about to actually start a channel specifically for the CrossFit/MMA/BJJ athlete. We don't see enough of this material disseminated. Thanks for the video!

Hey bro, you ever make that channel?

@@chazfernandez4180 been a crazy couple years, brother - but I'll get working on it after my next transfer to SoCal and off probation! (Just separated AD and now Federal LE)

Love this and would live to hear more detailed breakout. Even a program geared to grappling / MMA/ BJJ. I think you would get a lot of interested people

that was awesome and very helpful. I've been doing CF for about 8 years now and have just started BJJ. I definitely feel my prior CF has helped me with BJJ. I do three days each (rotating days). Am I okay to just pick a named WOD (20 min) on my CF days? I haven't been doing the 5x5 strength stuff before hand. I feel the WOD gives me that? I usually pick WOD's that incorporate weighted presses,DL's and Squats.... Thanks for posting this video and your time?

Great Vid. Been doing something similar to this lately since I cant make my regular CrossFit class at night.

I do CrossFit 3x’s a week, jujitsu 2x’s a week. That helps me be consistent with both.
@vibovitold4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I did the reverse - only this week I bumped it up to 3 + 3. That's a tad more taxing, but let's see how it goes in the long run. I don't think I could handle both on the same day though (training properly)

People who criticise CrossFit - well the founder of CrossFit is also one of the biggest pioneers of stand up fighting and ground based fighting. I love the spear method and have used it to tap Bjj Blackbelts and manage distance with elite level strikers. CrossFit is a complete system and not just for fitness

Great video! I've been doing crossfit in the AM M-W, and jiu jitsu M-W, in the evenings. I can't switch that up because I live in another city Th-Sunday. What do you recommend I do for Th-Sunday? I got a gym membership in the city I'm in Th-Sunday and typically do a bro workout focusing on arms/chest/shoulders when I can if I'm motivated enough to go at least 2xs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Great video! I'm going to try this for my jits! Do you recommend before or after BJJ training for the workout?

Leglockaaa it depends on what sport you’re more dedicated to. Whichever one is a supplement to the other perform after.

Jason , can you make another video with more examples for people who train BJJ 4 times a week and also want to do CrossFit ? (3 times a week too ) Thank you !
@dashady1874 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jason! What are your thoughts on Gordon Ryan recently saying that Bjj is an isometric sport when it comes to his training focus? I listen to your podcast and as a Bjj black belt I was pumped to learn you also train. Keep up the hustle.
@genkisudo5999 Жыл бұрын
@ dashady187 Gordon Ryan is nowhere as near as fit or strong as pro CrossFitters - not even close. He hasn’t even ever fought a CrossFitter and I’m not sure he’d be able to match the intensity and power that they bring to the table

@@genkisudo5999 were you legit high when you wrote this comment?
@genkisudo5999 Жыл бұрын
@ JB I certainly was not high. Like all other CrossFitters I don’t use any drugs whatsoever. Although I’m new to BBJ I’ve been doing CrossFit for many years. I have trained at a few gyms already and tapped all the different belts - and this is down to CrossFit. The strength and conditioning is insane. I do think Graham Ryan would benefit from that too as I see he moves slowly to conserve energy. Can you imagine if I pro CrossFitter (which I’m not) started training BJJ ! They would be unstoppable

Do you have a specific program in mind? Squat variations, which presses, various AMRAP ideas? Since you say do a 5x5, are we only doing a single movement each day? I did Crossfit for about 18 months and have been doing BJJ for about 2 years.
@jasonkhalipa36606 жыл бұрын
Charles Ferguson I️ don’t have a specific program in mind right now. Perhaps in the future we can release one, for now try and create workouts that are varied but not random.

both on the same day

I’m keen to try BJJ but don’t want to give up CrossFit. Do you think it’s manageable to do both?
@siwalker10376 жыл бұрын
Kinglear absolutely brother, I do Crossfit 3 times a week and Jiu jitsu 3 times a week. I find balance in reserving one day for Crossfit and another solely for bjj. You'll have two days where you push through Crossfit and BJJ in the same day. And that's where I find my stamina gets tested -Cheers

I’m a blue belt. And training 2-3 times a week and then trying to do crossfit 3 days a week is not practical for me. I would never recover. But awesome video. Stoked you train Jason.

Look at your nutrition bro. Carbs are usually not the best answer for filling your calories. Shockers. Im not saying do KETO diet but I have done keto and my take away was... with keto adaptation... u recover SO MUCH QUICKER... Carbs are what you use for your glucose but generally if u intake Too much carbs, your performance goes down. U have to make your body to learn how to conserve those glucose. Kinda like Targetted Keto diet, but eat high fat and High protein with veg in general and have tons of carbs after your Crossfit or SC and after your BJJ or MMA. U will be Surprised. I was thinking the same until my body got adapted to that type of load of training and S&C with this type of diet approach

Hey brother! Do you think that doing Crossfit 5 days a week and Jiu Jitsu 4 days a week is too demanding for my body. I’ve doing crossfit for about a few years now and just started jiu jitsu a year ago but I can’t find the balance?
