Join me on a tour of my wildlife garden in early summer. The roses are blooming and there are lots of buds promising more flowers to come. And there are fledgling birds, compost, robins and a wasp beetle.

It's lovely to have a wildlife garden, but it's nice to have something in it just for ourselves too. The Gertrude Jekyll rose is beautiful ❤️

Hello Isabel, you should be proud of yourself for what you have achieved in your garden, from the comments you get it seems you are inspiring so many of us. It certainly lifts my spirits when feeling low just watching your videos. What proves you have got it right is seeing how so many birds are calling it home. I cannot believe the difference from when i started watching your journey, looking forward to the next video. Take care and stay safe. Bryan fae Orkney.

It's all looking gorgeous. I agree that it's been a good roses year. We have a climber near the back door. It's the best year ever for it - bright cerise and smells lovely. I don't tend to it much, just clip it right back in the autumn to almost ground level and it seems to do it good.

Your rose sounds lovely. Plants with lovely flowers and scent that don`t need much attention are the best kind. Thanks for watching.

Your garden is looking lovely. The older I get the more I love roses and can't resist adding more to my cottage garden. Rose campion isn't a native but is related to our campions

Beautiful looking natural garden, a pollinators dream. The weather over here in Ireland has been raining on and off for the last five weeks. We haven't had to water the flowerbeds which is great and the rain barrels are full if the weather gets better in July.

Thank you. It`s rained here the last couple of days, but it is warmer. I do love a nice full rain barrel.

Did I tell you, we were over run with Mormon Crickets last month. Lost everything. Started over...3x this season. All part of the life of a gardener! Thank you for all you do and share!

You`re welcome. Mormon Crickets! - yet another thing we don`t have to worry about in the UK. We do have crickets but they are not a problem at all, not swarms that eat everything.

After seeing all your lovely roses I went out and purchased one myself this afternoon. I have 'Kew Gardens' which is good for bee's and which I've already planted in my garden. Many thanks for the tour of your beautiful garden and for inspiring me!

Abundance of joy 🧡 As an aside, this morning I had surgery to remove two screws from my left ankle (broken in 2020) featured in a video at the time. The screws had slipped (happens occasionally). Six-minute surgery, all went well BUT downside is that my foot is bandaged for 10 days which means I am restricted in getting about in the garden 😢 Just as well it is winter and that I have your garden to visit 🧡 Loved the rose named Tottering by Gently 😍

@@lm9753 Thank you. I am in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. Not wishing to jinx myself, not too bad for 73 years 6 mths ( as stated on my hospital wrist band). Just wish someone would buy our property so we could downsize to our 'forever garden'. Happy Gardening 🌻🐞🦔🐝

O sorry to hear that, but glad the surgery went well. Get well for next year, but fingers crossed a buyer comes along. It must be such hard work looking after your garden. It is a lovely rose, with a great name!

The oxeye daisy will self seed everywhere. I put it in my garden over 40 years ago and I’ve never been without it. Valerian in pink, red and white is another.
@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr3 ай бұрын
That`s just what I want with the ox eye daisies. I tried to get them established over the road but they don`t seem to like it there. I would love valerian too. There is some in the verges down the road so I will try and collect some seed later in the year.

Absolutely fantastic! Your garden is amazing! The rose on the arch may be lady of the lake as i have 2 of these , so it looks familiar. I went to david Austin rose Gardens today with my son for our yearly day out haha. As always, it was amazing x

The Gertrude Jekyll rose might be unsuitable for bees etc but the greenfly on it will be a feast for ladybirds, hoverflies , wasps and Bluetits etc

We have been having the same kind of weather! Your roses are really beautiful. Mine are really old and neglected and definitely not looking their best… I am going to try giving them horse manure and see if that helps. You have so many birds… such a beautiful haven for them.
@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr3 ай бұрын
It`s difficult to know what to do for the best. Roses usually respond well to being cut back, but I`m not sure when they get very old. I usually mulch my roses with manure and give them a granular feed each spring, but this year I forgot and they have been the best ever. They are all young - the oldest is 6 years old. I would probably plant more roses to take over.
@ThereisaCastleinmyGarden3 ай бұрын
@@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr yes, I really think some of them are just too old and diseased. Il try to cut them back though, thank you for the tip. Maybe they'll renew while the newer ones get started.

Oh compost bin any day over jewels!😅

@marilynsmith80543 ай бұрын
All those shop bought bins are no good. We had a tumbler. We use sturdy wire and make a large rectangle. We have 2. We let the rain and sun do its work and my garden has had tons of homemade compost over the years. With all the prunings from plants I get all sorts of self seeders in the garden. No weeds are put in though.
@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr3 ай бұрын
I tried a tumbler but couldn`t get the ratios right and it got too wet and heavy to turn. My husband made the compost bins over the road from pallets. But I`m not up to that - the pallets are too heavy. That`s why I thought a plastic one would be ideal - but it wasn`t. I hope the new wooden ones will be better, but I`ll let you know.
@lm97533 ай бұрын
Wait? Do you mean the same robins had 2 sets of eggs/hatchlings in the same year?
@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr3 ай бұрын
Robins can have up to 4 broods a year, I believe. Quite a few of the little birds have several broods. The sparrows are courting again in my garden.
