Thank you for your insights into the scriptures, and for the time you spend giving so many this wonderful gift. I believe in President Nelson's recent admonition to "seek and expect miracles". I took this to heart and not only did we get miracles asked for, but then the Holy Ghost prompted me to ask God to help me see His constant miracles I was not "seeing'. Amazing Grace.

Wow. The condescension of Christ analogy with the giving back life to the Shunammite woman's son! Becoming one with us to understand us, going beneath all things, even all of our sins to give back life, breath to breath, eye to eye, stretching over us...Personally, intimate, our Saviour, Christ Jesus the Atoning One. Love this so much. Thank-you for conveying those images and that understanding.

I have a question? How could Nathan be the right hand man of a king when had leprosy. I thought a person with leprosy had to stay away from people? I have an unrelated question: A long time ago maybe even last year you explained the picture behind you the one with a large dark hand holding a child's hand. Could you please explain it a again? I love your lessons. I am so glad you chose to teach the Gospel. I have learned so much from you. I love the way you get into the heads of the characters and tell us they are thinking. You find types of Christ in the darndest places! For example when Elisha brought the great wonan's child back to life as a type of Christ Didn't make connection before . Another one -- the widow women was distraught about her boys being taken away from her and her little oil filled all those empty vessels she had gathered from her neighbors. Jesus can fill our emptiness. What ever it is. I also liked how you pointed out that Elisha ask the women what she had that he could use then asked her to ask her neighbors to help. We first need to ask ourselves what we have to offer to solution then ask people to help instead of having God do everything. I could go on and one but I am to close by telling that you have influenced my behavior: when asked you audience to think about was to include the prophets in their lives just the great woman made a room for Elisha. I have recently decided to walk. I downloaded an app that can count my steps and because I carry my phone on my walks, I have decided to listen conference talks off my phone while I am walking and when I am pedaling a stationary bike. I get to know the prophets listening to you. I look forward every week to listening to you. I always have a note book and pen handy while listening to you so I can take notes. I am glad you are part of my life.p to Dr by v we

@@elizabethwhipple314 Such a lovely comment to which I agree wholeheartedly. The painting with the dark hand behind him was made by his daughter. The dark hand is actually the galaxy representing Heavenly Father. The painting has a title which escapes me now. Not much help. Sorry

I love how you describe the woman who wants to create a room for the prophet. What you say is so true. We had a family friend who was one of the presidents of the Seventies who would come and visit with us and have dinner. We were always so blessed with the Spirit when he was in our home and that Spirit stayed for weeks afterward.

Brother Halverson, I love the spirit I feel when I listen to your lessons ... the longer the better. Other members of my family are a bit impatient, but when I play the lesson when we travel in the car they become a captive audience, and recently admitted they were hooked and want to hear more. Halleluja! I pray that God blesses you with all the treasures of heaven and earth as you need them, as a result of your faithfulness, and as an example to the rest of us that have gifts of the spirit to share. When you heal us, you heal yourself and your family. Thank you ... Shalom!

I like what you said about the condescension of Christ and him coming into our lives and putting the holy ghost into our hearts to truly lift us up. The converse is true of more powerful satanic influence in which an evil spirit enters the flesh and brings us to hate ourselves and our own bodies as much as Satan hates us; To yearn to destroy ourselves and cut ourselves off from God and all he can offer us; And to compel others to experience it themselves so that all must obey these dark influences. I weep for those afflicted in this manner. And overcoming such an affliction cannot be a small matter.

I really enjoy your lessons. I sometimes try to take notes and have never been very good at note taking or I want to review something you said if I got distracted for a moment. I recently discovered that some of your lessons have transcripts which have been a great boon to my capturing thoughts I wanted to hold onto. I don't know what is involved in creating the transcripts, but I would love to see them on all your lessons. Much easier when I've lost a thought to stop and review the transcript rather than to try and go back in the recording. I am glad to see transcripts on some of the upcoming lessons. But as I mentioned I'd love to see them on all if possible. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into preparing and recording all these lessons. 43:41-47:00 I love how Elisha sacrifices his past life and previous identity to consecrate everything he is or ever will be to the Lord and His work and glory. This is becoming new creatures in Christ; laying aside any other "label" by which we may be known, to be known first and foremost as children of God, disciples of Jesus Christ and His church, covenant makers, keepers, and magnifiers etc. I hope that my life will be able to reflect this, in every measure as I continue enduring to the end.

I had a similar experience with a scholarship. Not nearly as much & different in other ways. I was about ready to give back the $500 that my high school teachers gave me towards becoming a teacher. My freshman year at BYU-H I joined the church & shifted priorities. At BYU-P I switched my major to Spanish Lit just to finish quickly & start raising a family. I hadn’t become a teacher! But then when I couldn’t afford to put 2nd child in preschool they suggested I teach Spanish in trade. It became a 15 yr career, including 7 yrs at a Catholic elementary school. I never had to send the $500 back! 😊

11:28... I have always been a reed that leans into the wind and pushes back. My choices have always taken me outside the box. In seeking the Father's will for my life it has always caused me to walk the path less travelled, the one less popular. And I am ok with that. I am at peace with the outcome because I know the truth about our purpose and existence and the Spirit is my guide.

I think another perspective of Elisha asking for a double portion is that is what the oldest son would inherit, the birthright. He is given a double portion to care for his mother and unmarried sisters. I could see Elisha asking for a double portion to not only care for himself spiritually, but asking for the birthright to care for the people as he becomes the prophet.

Cannot imagine why it was a stumbling block. Benson was so “divisive,” yet proven to be 100% correct. So was HE the divisive one? Why doesn’t his fulfilled predictions cause more self-reflection is a mystery to me. Pride?
@annewandering2 жыл бұрын
@@Icriedtoday Best not to get into a 'discussion' on Elder Benson. If you want to discuss President Benson I have no objection. President Benson was a prophet of God and had that mantle. God would not let a prophet lead us astray. He would shut his mouth or take care of the issue in some other way.

I had a thought about the little Israelite maid of Naaman’s wife (2:18:53). She was taken captive and she was very young, as it says, but Naaman had given her a place and brought her into his own home and was protecting and providing work for her - she may have been orphaned in whatever military action took place (or sold) and Naaman reached out across all kinds of excuses and boundaries to help her survive. Many thanks for all your lessons - they are a highlight of my week.

1:58:19... The void is greater when the loss is greater. And the pain is greater because of it. If she had never known the joy of her son she wouldn't be able to feel sorrow for the loss of him. It just goes to follow.... But Neal Maxwell called the space or void that our sorrows create within us as "holding places or caverns that have been carved out of our souls to be filled with a commensurate joy in a coming day."
@eveelane28062 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your videos. Make no mistake about it. That I absolutely, positively love this style of teaching. What might that be you? It would be that you are putting the words of the doctrine up on the screen, and that you are really sticking closely to the storyline of the written war. I have trouble these days with people teaching the Sandy school lesson and they talk all around it and don’t use the words in the Scriptures very much. Frankly I’m not interested unless you give me the words. The words from the Lord and his apostles and his leadership. You have my attention and you will continue to have my devoted watching if you continue to mostly stick to the doctrine and less other stories and events around it. Have no doubt I truly appreciate your efforts!!!

modern day prophets are pigeon holed for memorable accomplishments and teachings. I think it’s a disservice to put them in strict boxes. Every prophet was an amazing scriptorian, was a champion of temples, made changes to administration of church, received revelation etc. It’s ok to remember certain prophets for certain things as long as we remember they all were servants of Christ and we’re experts at everything having to do with teaching the world about Him.
