Brother Halverson, your students still love you and your uplifting, hugely informative and inspiring lessons. You are not nothing to us - you are one of the wonderful conduits through which the Lord can teach those of us who know we still have so much to learn. I appreciate your lessons so much. I am dreading graduation in early Jacob, when our journey through the four standard works together will be over. Thank you so much for the countless hours you have poured into this endeavour. I am proud to be one of the Unshaken!

It would be nice one day to meet old Paul, he seems to be a pretty exciting guy to hang out with. I could see president Nelson and Paul even Moses hanging out together discussing the future of the Saints of Christ. Walking with the spirit does help fight against the flesh, a lot more than what you think👍

Thank you for making me laugh…. Thank you for making me cry… I see so much of myself in the Galatians… always wanting everything to be perfect, yet knowing only One was perfect. I need to relax a little and put more faith into the Grace of God, lest I stumble and fall, and lay there with no hope because I did not perform this day perfectly. Thank you for helping me see where my foolishness lies.

I am loving these chapters from Paul, and, like Isaiah, I am finally beginning to understand why his writings are so important. That, being said, is there a contrary we need to be careful to prove here? The thought that man is nothing, is not new. We hear it from King Benjamin and also in the Pearl of Great Price when Moses realized "man is nothing" something he'd never thought about before. And yet, "The worth of souls is great in the sight of God." I fear lest we swing the pendulum in a way that makes people feel worthless, because I don't think our Heavenly Father would never say that to us as individuals or as His family going through this mortal experience. Can we please agree that humility is a good thing, but humiliation (something that some would use these scripture references to create these negative feelings in us) is not only not a good thing, but contrary to the plan of God, who after all, loves us so much that He created the Great Plan of Happiness for us and gave us a Savior at great personal cost and suffering? Thank you, Brother Halverson for your weekly lessons. I wish I was a BYU student right now as I would be on the front row every day in your classes.

I'm not perfect. I hope certain people realize how extraordinarily and extremely difficult this journey has been. It's really uncomfortable living under a microscope 24/7. Three are times when I don’t think I can take much more💔

I've been left with thisis question that I was hoping you or somebody could help me with. Before the day of Pentecost, after the crucifixion of Christ, did no one have the Holy Ghost to testify to them?? Were the prophets of old the only ones who heard the voice of God through the Spirit??? An almost incomprehensible lone and dreary world.

YES.AND HERE IS THE EXPLANATION FROM THE LDS LIBRARY: The third member of the Godhead and a personage of Spirit, not possessing a body of flesh and bones (D&C 130:22). The Holy Ghost has been manifest in every dispensation of the gospel since the beginning, being first made known to Adam (1 Ne. 10:17-22; Moses 6:51-68). The Holy Ghost is manifested to men on the earth both as the power of the Holy Ghost and as the gift of the Holy Ghost. The power can come upon one before baptism and is the convincing witness that the gospel is true. By the power of the Holy Ghost a person receives a testimony of Jesus Christ and of His work and the work of His servants upon the earth. The gift can come only after proper and authorized baptism and is conferred by the laying on of hands, as in Acts 8:12-25 and Moro. 2. The gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to have, whenever one is worthy, the companionship of the Holy Ghost. For those who receive this gift, the Holy Ghost acts as a cleansing agent to purify them and sanctify them from all sin. Thus it is often spoken of as “fire” (Matt. 3:11; 2 Ne. 31:17; D&C 19:31). The manifestation on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) was the gift of the Holy Ghost that came upon the Twelve, without which they were not ready for their ministries to the world. For some reason not fully explained in the scriptures, the Holy Ghost did not operate in the fulness among the Jews during the years of Jesus’ mortal sojourn (John 7:39; 16:7). Statements to the effect that the Holy Ghost did not come until after Jesus was resurrected must of necessity refer to that particular dispensation only, for it is abundantly clear that the Holy Ghost was operative in earlier dispensations. Furthermore, it has reference only to the gift of the Holy Ghost not being present, since the power of the Holy Ghost was operative during the ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus; otherwise no one would have received a testimony of the truths that these men taught (Matt. 16:16-17; see also 1 Cor. 12:3). When a person speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost that same power carries a conviction of the truth unto the heart of the hearer (2 Ne. 33:1). The Holy Ghost knows all things (D&C 35:19) and can lead one to know of future events (2 Pet. 1:21). Other names that sometimes refer to the Holy Ghost are Holy Spirit, Spirit of God, Spirit of the Lord, Comforter, and Spirit.

The promptings and witness as testator of truth by the Holy Ghost were manifest and are manifest in all dispensations. The Holy Ghost on the other hand is given after repentance, baptism by way of the "Gift" of the Holy Ghost to be a Comforter and companion to truth to those who remain worthy. An example of witness was the sign at the baptism of Jesus Christ. . There are too numerous examples of the actions of the Holy Ghost throughout all four Standard Works to mention here.

I have a book titled 'Joseph Smith's "New Translation" of the Bible'...it has the Inspired Version and the King James Version side by side. I have had to look it up a few times. I hope this helps.

Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all (King James Version). Galatians 4:12 Brethren, I beseech you to be perfect as I am perfect; for I am persuaded as ye have a knowledge of me, ye have not injured me at all by your sayings (Inspired Version). Joseph Smith made three major changes to Galatians 4.12 as it appeared in the King James Version. (1) He changed “be as I am” to “be perfect as I am perfect,” (2) he swapped “for I am as ye are” with “for I am persuaded as ye have a knowledge of me” and to the final part of the verse “ye have not injured me at all,” and then (3) he added “by your sayings”

We know that the Savior was never weak as sometimes inferred by meek; rather meekness is the wonderful prerequisite to baptism to DO things the Lord’s way based on revealed TRUTH (Jac 4.13)! Meekness is uncompromising conviction to do things after the thoughts & ways of the Lord (Isa 55.8,9) leaving go of the frustrated mortal (Hel 12.1-3) void (dc 3.3) of any justification (Moses 6.60) as to the Spirit’s confirming power (dc 50.29) & might (Hel 10.3-5)! - 7 -

Meekness is one of the most powerful traits of divinity. Meekness is submissiveness to the will of God in all things insomuch that trust from Deity is given to the Meek to carry out His will here upon earth where the arm of flesh becomes subjective to its will

I beg to differ on your opinion of people accepting good actions and not concerning themselves with the motivation. I have experienced restrictions on my service and ministering precisely because of the questioning of my motives.

While it is of a truth that the motivation behind the ministering should exhibit love and compassion it can be carried out in compulsion without regard to such thereby it is in vain.

I don't know how his miracles occurred therefore it is difficult to believe they did happen..but I do believe they did happen but because i don't know how they happened, there will always be a sliver of doubt that they did happen..on another topic, the excruciating suffering Jesus went through at Gethsemane and likewise on the cross at Golgatha, in my mind happened but because i don't know how those two events happened i will always have a sliver of doubt that i can be forgiven and eventually exalted because of those two events...i also find it hard to believe that in mortality i can be perfect even as He is perfect...i have so many questions about what happens after we die...the way i understand it, is that i will have to spend time in spirit prison where confession or acknowledgement for my sins will likely occur followed by instruction on how i could have repented of those sins in mortality but either couldn't because of my lack of self-discipline or because i chose not to because i had a sick desire to hold onto them or rationalized pathetic excuses for not putting forth the effort to overcome them and repent...the difference between me and people who had strong self-discipline who while in mortality would have never rationalized pathetic excuses for not putting forth the effort to overcome them and repent..the difference is quite stark....am i lacking in the gifts of self-discipline and the ability to dismiss rationalizations but they are not...are they lacking in certain gifts that i possess and could be feeling about themselves the same way i am thinking about myself right now..do we all have scorecards with plusses and minuses and who ever has the most plusses is exalted to a higher kingdom or mansion in that kingdom than those with less plusses....i know this kind of thinking might sound kooky or even absurd but they are very real thoughts that have been coming into my mind as i have been reading galatians and listening to brother halverson's phenomenal instruction and commentary...obviously he hasn't expressed anything close to what i have just expressed..am i being deceived by my own thoughts or am i being deceived by the adversary...or has the Holy Ghost whispered to me pure truth and i lack the faith to accept or believe the Holy Ghost...i am not a basket case but i am really confused

We need not beat ourselves with stripes for Jesus has done that for us. Repentance is acknowledging that He indeed died for us and extends us mercy in the form of repentance As for "being perfect" think of it in this manner Matthew 25:15...to every man ACCORDING TO his SEVERAL ABILITY; and straightway took his journey. [16] Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. We each are given an ability and with that ability we can achieve so much within the ability the Lord appropriates us. Beyond that point it is Grace that fills in the difference. This is becoming perfect to the best of our ability in this life with the Grace of God as carrying the required difference we cannot of ourselves, or fulfilling the measure of our stature. The second "perfection" is in the life hereafter where the righteous and the obedient become perfected with God achieving exaltation. All these have been giving to us to achieve according to our own God given ability coupled with grace through obedience.
