The Kardashians made it because they were in the Hollywood circuit (connections to the Hilton's etc) think Paris Hilton their family friend was the first reality personality. Obviously not forgetting Robs public exposure in the Oj trial made them a household name. I guess we'll never know about Kim's tape. That seems to be when they really made it.
