'Come to Bed' - Short Horror Film

Hey everyone, here's a little short horror film from me. Come to Bed is a little spooky tale where as always, things go drastically wrong for a lovely innocent couple! I won't spoil the story anymore, go watch it, it'll only take 5 minutes of your time.
I shot this on the Canon R5 camera. In fact, it's the first and only thing I've shot with the camera so far. I decided to shoot in 8K and my intention was to bounce down an 8k file and upload it but that's proving very difficult. Yes, the 8k workflow was a nightmare. In fact, if I was to work in 8k again, I'd bounce out the .crm RAW files as prores and edit those. That codec and file resolution is tough. By the way, I had one CF Express card (1tb) disc and shot internal with no monitor. This horror really was just a vehicle for testing out the camera, especially it's low light capabilities which if I'm honest, aren't the best. A dual ISO system really would have been great.
All edit and fx were done in Davinci Resolve.

Really nice short! What caught my eye was how sharp and crisp the image was even in 1080p's bitrate then I saw it was shot on R5 at 8K. What kind of format and bitrate did you upload the film. Great work!

Passed the hairs on the back of the neck test. Well done, and shot in a fabulous location. 8K will definitely be a hard place to be, the real problem comes at the computing end. I have enough trouble with 4K.

What puzzles me in the most horror I watch is the character’s reaction after hearing a noise... if I l was at home and had heard a single note of noise, experienced an unusual atmosphere, seen strange movements and or whatever it is , I deffo I would have run away.... right off the bat... YES!!! I Watching with my 11yo daughter she hid her head and never looked again..(ohhh but she heard...) I couldn't get her to look again, but when the shot came I straight had her feel my arm. The hairs were standing straight UP!! LOL this is our first night in my apt, a huge empty house where I've been teasing her about an old woman in the bathtub!!! KUDOS! This took the cake... Really great! What lenses did you shoot with? Did you use any additional lighting or just practical lights? Again, great work. This is quite possibly the best thing I've seen from the R5!

Wow, thanks a lot. I did use lighting but as I was on my own, acting in it too, I just went with simple bounced lights mostly. Like bouncing a godox led on a wall or corner. Also used an Arri 650 for the warmer stuff. The footage is quite grainy in parts, you need to keep under 1600. I used just the RF 24-70 and used auto focus for some shots like the zoom on her eye shot.

Great work , so with the multiple camera angles was it just a case of yourself moving into position reframing etc .then take the shot the scene at the bottom of the stairs when she turned the light on was that 2x cameras of 1x with 2 shoots ?

Only use one camera and get the actor to do the same thing, keep continuity. Using 2 cameras can be more work Ironically. Also, you need to light for each camera angle separately. Though it it might look the same in the edit, the lighting can be different from different angles.

It was a really good little film. Enjoyable. The only thing I'd say is there is no point in putting which camera it was shot with and in what resolution as many people don't know what a Canon R5 or maybe even what 8k is - or they don't care.
