Gondwana Singers is an SATB choir for singers aged 14-16, including boys with newly changed or changing voices. Singers has quickly established itself as an exciting addition to the Gondwana National Choral School.
This concert was filmed in January 2010 at Verbrugghen Hall at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney. This concert is the culmination of a two week National Choral School, which includes Gondwana's other choirs and offers an intensive two weeks of rehearsals, performances and workshops with the leading figures in Australian choral music.

These children cannot contain their joy, which is what makes it divine. Cheers to the conductor who does not steal the singers' joy.

Kudos to the director who manages to have a youth choir sing Purcell. Bravo and well done!

This is delightful to listen to! The piano is taking the place of a large array of instruments--a good arrangement and well played.

I love it all :-) I learnt "Come ye sons of Art" at school and have never forgotten it. It is so good to hear it sung by these young voices and they do it great justice. XXXXX

The Schubert version is lovely but I used to sing the Crimond. I used to sing the descant part and I still remember it, a bit imperfectly it's true, but I was singing it 62 years ago so I'm not too ashamed of what I do remember. Sadly, I can't find on You Tube the descant version of Crimond that I used to sing :-)

I am preparing a program for my church's rmusicians, but didn't want to use the secular text. I found a religious text by Thomas Aquinas which fits perfectly into Purcell's music I didn't have to change a word. A miracle: 1) Rise, Royal Zion! Rise and sing. Thy soul's kind shepherd, thy heart's king. Stretch all thy powers; call if you can The harps of heaven to hands of man. This sovereign subject sits above The best ambition of thy love. 2) Lo the Bread of Life, this day's Triumphant Text provokes thy praise. The living and life-giving bread, To the great twelve distributed. When Life, himself, at point to die Of love, was his own Legacy.

Yes, there's nothing wrong with her playing. It's just that I think Purcell's music sounds better on harpsichord, organ or orchestra. It's different with Bach for example, you can play Bach on any instrument and it still sounds great!
