To this day, it frustrates me that Lucretia didn't get ANY consequences for what she did. Say what you will about Magnus, the dude is basically a Teddy Bear. And you could argue his life was made better for it. But Taako, Lup, Barry, and Davenport? They were absolutely screwed over by this decision. Davenport lost his mind, Taako was essentially left without a family, Barry had to have what id essentially his brother-in-law kill him to keep him from forgetting his love, and Lup was trapped in her own creation for nearly a decade, with no one looking for her, save for Lucretia in her first two years. She should've at least had SOME reprimanding the others besides Taako. Dav should've been furious, having her keep him as some brainless servant. Barry should've been heartbroken keeping him away from his family. Lup should've been at least a tad bit frustrated at how Lucretia essentially made her own brother forget her. I still like her, don't get me wrong. She did what she thought was best for the world. Doesn't make it right, but she tried.

This whole last campaign has been very linear, they dont really affect anything and anytime they should be learning anything it's just "you uh just cant remember" or "it's just static", fuckin weak story building and overly controling dm'ing. Then you get to a dump of forced exposition and reigned in action, it's pretty frustrating.

actually its really well written. and the pc's did have a lot of freedom. a good majority of the things they did affected the story later examples being: -magnus giving garfield hair -kravitz's relationship with them -them trusting the red robe - sparing the purple worms -taako and merle saving magnus and so much more. the pc's have changed the story drastically, in fact griffin mentioned i believe in the adventure zone zone that he had to throw out like a whole arc with kravitz because of their actions. it has structure yes, but i think having an open world for this adventure wouldnt have worked, not to mention dnd always has a sort of linear path. if it was open world like something like skyrim it wouldnt work nor have as much lore and flow as this game does. and not to mention once the ending comes along they get to have that 'oh sh*t' moment of connecting all the dots

I mean, Mannequin Magnus wasn't at ALL planned for, Griffin initially wanted Magnus and Kravitz to do a prison break sorta thing. The players DO have agency. But even so, this is also kind of a story more so than a campaign. With so much built up there's only so much they can do without making for terrible radio.

Also keep in mind this is not a normal DND game. It started as half game, half radio drama really, and it gets more and more radio drama as it goes. Normal DND games would not be only an hour to an hour and a half every two weeks, and would not wrap up a story within 100 episodes. As long as the players are aware of that and okay with it (which you can tell they are by how invested they are here at the end), then that's how they play it. Yes this would be extremely railroady by normal DND game standards, but this is not normal DND, and that's okay. There are lots of other podcasts out there where they play normal DND with all the player agency and rules, but this is the game this group wants to play.
