It was a lot harder to break out in the '90s than it is now, and he BLEW up in fame, QUICK. You really needed to be talented back then or people wouldn't notice you or give you work. And he definitely is. In many ways. More so than most people in Hollywood probably. I honestly don't know why he was even forgotten somewhat. It's surprising that he was, in my mind -- at least in mainstream popularity (he was never NOT famous, except when really young).

This reminds me of my own story. I was a junior attorney tasked with taking new recruits out to dinner. I picked an expensive restaurant since we were on the firm's dime. Halfway through the appetizers I noticed two guys way underdressed for such a fancy place. I asked the recruit, is that Dennis Rodman at the bar? The recruit replied I think the other guy is Tom Green? We couldn't for the life of us figure out what those two were doing with each other. It puzzled me for weeks until I found out both of them were on The Apprentice (which was still filming and was a long way from airing). It wasn't until I saw this just now that I realized it actually was a whole plot point in the show.

Aw man, when he mentioned his old internet show... that pause, that face... that is PTSD right there. Not even joking. I love this guy, I respect him, he's an inspiration and a role model. That was some kind of dark time for him. He was just a shell of his former self. He somehow became the butt of the kinds of jokes he used to craft. For some reason he just couldn't roll with it.
